  1. “That said, Pierre Trudeau sr. would not have been asking them what they wanted because:
    a) he wouldn’t have given it to them
    b) he knew that it would have encouraged more of the same”
Oh, I don’t know about that, Oz.
I seem to recall Trudeau the Elder mouthing the same Rousseauean, ‘root causes’ bullshit as The Tit is now spouting, excusing the actions of rioting Quebecers and the criminals in the FLQ.
As far as our late, great genius PM was concerned, all the radicalism occurring in Quebec in the 60s and 70s was nothing but social unease caused by unfair legislation.
Here’s a quote from The Great Man during the October crisis:
“The government has pledged that it will introduce legislation which deals not only with the symptoms but with the social causes which often underlie or serve as an excuse for crime and disorder.”
And I also recall that he chartered an aircraft to fly the FLQ garbage to Cuba – instead of calling in snipers to put bullets through their ^%$*#*g heads.

  2. So the Dauphin is worried about people feeling excluded. What did his father do? He sent in the Army. I am reminded that Edward I, a bloody tough monarch, fathered Edward II, who wasn’t.

  3. On the contrary, I think it’s a good idea to look a root causes. What we’re dealing with is a group of people infected with a 7th century meme created by a psychotic epileptic pedofile who think that it’s their right to turn their women into second class human bomb carrier production machines. That, and breeding like rabbits is their long term strategy to dominate all of the non-believers in their psychotic meme.
So, now that we’ve found the root causes, there are various solutions which involve various yield nuclear bombs, large scale deportations, strategic conventional bombing campaigns, surgical military strikes and a propaganda war that would involve giving every muslim woman a .357 magnum revolver. The latter program would likely provide enough wives for the huge excess of young horny males from China’s one child policy.
So, the big question is whether the shiny pony would agree with my assessment of the root causes of the problem and the solution. Somehow I suspect that he’s totally incapable of seeing outside of his reality tunnel which is full of prancing unicorns and adoring Canadians telling him how wonderful he is.

  4. “…What did his father do? He sent in the Army…”
Another universally-accepted myth that Liberals have spread to shore up the non-existent bravery quotient in their God’s resume. Like all of the other Trudeau myths, it falls apart on the briefest of scrutinies.
When the FLQ were blowing up mere civillians, Trudeau did nohing – it was just a job for the police. He only ‘sent in the army’ when people in his ivory tower set started to get kidnapped and murdered and he tripled his security detail. In other words, his sphincter started puckering when things started hitting close to home.
So his ‘toughness’ and ‘bravery’ were anything but.

“Amongst the ‘root causes’ cited by Osama Bin Laden
for his jihad against the West were the defeat and
expulsion of the (Muslim) Moors by Spain in 1492.”

  6. I’m loving this, Justin is the perfect leader for the Liberals.
The PC’s went from ruling Canada to a pair of chairs, deservedly so.
The death of the Liberals has been so much more painful, again deservedly so.
Loki’s got it right, we need to deport the Koranists, supply every woman in their society with a handgun and offer amnesty to any of these women who escape.
The Libtards are going down, any traditional liberals left will soon wash their hands of Justin and as for his true supporters the media party and academia, I am not so sure most Canadians give a damn what they say.
The Christmas gift of Chief Moose Stew was too rich for many CBC viewers.
Chief Spence was not the only delusional dirtbag on full national exposure. Every reporter and talking head who praised the “Heroic Hunger Strike” was front and centre too.

  7. “The government has pledged that it will introduce legislation which deals not only with the symptoms but with the social causes which often underlie or serve as an excuse for crime and disorder.”
Well, Jamie MacMaster, Pierre knew when he said that that the FLQ were socialists. He and they were cut from the same pure laine.
Lil’ Prince Drama Teacher has no idea who is behind the bombing.
You think that Pierre pandered to the seperatistes? Maybe so, but Pierre at least knew who they were before pandering to them.

  8. You know the answer to that one — Justin Trudeau is their high-risk gambit to leap-frog over everybody else so that they can get back into office so that they can get their hands back into the till. So transparently obvious even I can figure that one out.
When you’re down and out and you need a fix (in this case, rent-paying patronage), you’ll do just about anything, I guess. And from their perspective, why not? The easy way had a lot of people fooled and worked for them for a long time — from the time of Macdonald’s National Policy right through price and wage controls, world oil prices, free trade, the GST, tax reform and efforts to reduce the deficit they themselves created under Mr. Trudeau, Sr.: oppose everything the Tories offer up, sneak back into office, after extensive and costly delays do exactly what the Tories wanted to do, and then, tah dah — a whole lot of money missing!
Mr. Trudeau, Jr. is a very direct message to the other left-wing parties: forget about co-operation if the LPC isn’t in charge. And the Liberals supposed hatred of Stephen Harper has nothing to do with anything Stephen Harper is doing or thinks, but has everything to do with the fact that he’s standing in the way of their return to kleptocratic splendour.
My own retrospective view is that the Liberal Party of Canada was pretty much out of gas in the 1960s, and that Mr. Trudeau, Sr. was the same sort of stunt that Mr. Trudeau, Jr. is today (or maybe it’s the other way around, or something). As Bob Plamandon recently noted, outside of Quebec and excluding the period of Conservative disunity from 1993 to 2004, the Liberals have not been able to best the Conservatives on any consistent basis for nearly sixty years.

  9. “…Trudeau, Jr. is a very direct message to the other left-wing parties…Mr. Trudeau, Sr. was the same sort of stunt that Mr. Trudeau, Jr. is today..”
    Amen, and amen.
And, a message to all of us.
Trudeau the elder was catapulted into power by mass ovine response to adulations that were generated by an irresponsible and biased media.
