Melissa H-P thinks kids belong to the community, because, in her ‘community’, you can look long and hard to find out who the parents are, of their kids. Hard for kids to be raised by parents when you can’t find them.
Yes well of course children are the ‘property of the state’ didn’t you know that?
Hells bells, China will tell you what to do with your ‘communal property’ if you have more than one child; I believe it is called ‘forced abortion’. Dennis Miller, with no happiness in his voice, recently spoke about the Left’s ascendancy in recent years. He predicts that in America, the Far Left will control the presidency for the next 10 election cycles. I think he’s wrong on that count but it’ll probably take one or two more election cycles + a non-wishy-washy Republican candidate for this Leftist Collective nonsense to be discarded … for hopefully at least 20 years.
In fairness, Melissa H-P is probably too dumb to realize she’s a loathsome totalitarian.
The fact that Melissa Harris-Perry (the fact that she has a hyphenated last name tells you something about how she was raised) is able to even make a living says a lot about how far the American society has fallen.
Melissa H-P conveniently chooses to ignore the fact that at one point, she was one of those “things”
So let’s follow her logic…
Children belong to the collective, not their parents.
The entitlements that the collective have granted themselves are unsustainable without a certain level of birth rate.
Therefore, it’s in the collective’s best interest to have more babies born.
Extending this further, this means that there should be no abortion, in fact, women should be forced to breed and have children, whether they want them or not. After all, it’s for the good of the collective.
*ugh*, I just gave myself a chill.
Of course, in their mind, it’s a woman’s right to choose to have a baby, even though it destroys the sustainability of the collective if they don’t. Obviously no economics majors in that group.

By saying that children belong to the collective, two key mantras of the Left are affirmed:
1. Nobody is responsible for anything – ie. parents can’t be blamed for their lack of parenting.
2. The collective (aka gov’t) needs more money to do better parenting. There never will be enough money, so the demand for more & more taxes will always be there.
Precisely the sort of reference she wouldn’t get (I’m guessing). And yet she’d consider herself very highly educated. This is a problem.
Good thing for her she’s pretty.

The commies have been going after the kids for decades via the education system. My daughter who turns 21 this year has plenty of stories. Her story is that there was a lot of teachers pushing back from the edicts of the education ministries (where all the nonsense comes from). For example the mandatory viewing of the Gore movie (Inconvenient BS) was done in the background while other real assignments were being done in a study period instead of a front and center presentation. The fact they had to show it at all pisses me off as they would not allow a dissenting presentation.
