  1. Today (March 13), Global National played a short clip from next Sunday’s March 17 show The West Block: http://www.globalnews.ca/programs/thewestblock/
Clark was interviewing Jean Chrétien. I swear Chrétien said something along the lines of “Ontario and Quebec are the most important in Canada.” Clark questioned this and Chrétien replied (something like) , “Yes, the rest of the world only knows Canada as Ontario and Quebec.” Maybe I misheard the comments and hope I did. It airs this Sunday March 17 on Global. Maybe someone will catch it and prove me wrong…I hope I am wrong.
I never liked Chrétien, he was never my PM. But if what I heard was half accurate … well. Bah.

  2. *Tolerance (the last virtue of a decadent society) * Jiggs McDonald, NHL Hall of Fame broad caster speaking in Orillia, Ontario, says, “I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another mosque being built in Toronto. I think it should be the goal of every Canadian to be tolerant regardless of their religious beliefs. Thus the mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance. That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque, thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque. We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, “The Turban Cowboy “, and the other a topless bar called “You Mecca Me Hot.” Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and adjacent to that an open-pit barbecue pork restaurant, called “Iraq o’ Ribs.” Across the street there could be a lingerie store called “Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret “, with sexy mannequins in the window modeling the goods. Next door to the lingerie shop there would be room for an adult sex toy shop, “Koranal Knowledge “, its name in flashing neon lights, and on the other side a liquor store called “Morehammered.” All of this would encourage Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they demand of us, so their mosque issue would not be a problem for others.” Yes we should promote tolerance, and you can do your part by passing this on.

  3. The Long PC Battle in Anthropology.
Like so many other things, it’s become a political battleground more than a science.
    Excerpt:

What (anthropologist Napolean Chagnon) found among the Yanomamo was that men who killed other men in battle fathered far more children than their less aggressive tribesmen. And he figured that, in the long term, such reproductive success had something to do with the exceptionally belligerent character of the Yanomamo as a whole.
His conclusions were more than irksome to the anthropological establishment, which took on principle that biological explanations of human behavior are illegitimate….

  4. Re: Daughter`s wedding speech.
And two years later, all hell broke loose. She met a young engineer, she started coming home late into the night. He hired a private eye, the unthinkable was revealed. The rest is modern history
    The end.

  5. If you get nothing in the captcha box try typing a mix of numbers and letters (6 total). Worked for me.

  6. Well, the Captcha may be messed up, but at least the filter still works. (This is my way of whining for someone to please release the comment I just made.)

  7. Well…I get no ‘captcha’ image, and I’m able to submit. 🙂

  8. ” Jeremy Bird, the national field director for U.S. President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, will not only address the crowd, but is also offering an “exclusive training session,” according to the NDP.”
The NDP is turning to the USA for “exclusive” political advise ???
I know that if the Conservatives did this there would be howls from the left, but when they do it,it must be different ,somehow.
” The convention will take place April 12-14 at the Palais de Congres. It wraps up the same day the Liberal Party of Canada announces the winner of its leadership race in Ottawa.”
Good timing, that should guarantee almost no coverage. The media will be drawn to the shiny pony rather than the shiny turd.

  9. Oh Man, and my daughter had her first date last weekend, they never saw each other they just texted all afternoon on the Iphones. Times have changed.

  10. Heh. Wonderful speech….suddenly got a little dusty in here or maybe it was allergies.
Funny, when my daughter was 13 or 14, I used to joke with my later-to-be son-in-law who was mooning after my daughter at the time that I carried a gun for a living, knew very well how to use it, was very protective of my daughter and invited him to help me clean my weapons.
Fast forward 15 years….he’s now my son in law, the father to my grandchild, now HE carries a gun for a living, and he was finally able to invite ME to help him clean his gun. Heh…what goes around comes around…

  11. We have an Argentinian pope, I see. Now that Captcha is back online I’ve finally said my piece about him in the appropriate thread.
I’ll let the Queen’s subjects on the Falkland Islands give the last word on Argentina and Pope Francis.
Pope Francis’s views on the Falkland Islands remain unclear, but he once told a congregation of Argentine veterans that those who died there during the 1982 war with Britain were “reclaiming what is theirs”.
During a Mass on April 2 last year to mark the 30th anniversary of the start of the war, the then Cardinal Bergoglio called for the vindication of “all” of those who fought against the British over the Falklands Islands.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/falklandislands/9930327/Argentinas-Cristina-Kirchner-suggests-Pope-Francis-could-mediate-over-Falklands.html
The people of the Falkland Islands have voted overwhelmingly in favour of remaining a UK overseas territory.
Of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum – on a turnout of more than 90% – 1,513 were in favour, while just three votes were against.

  12. Bruce, I just watched the clip and also experienced and allergy attack.
    All the best.
Thanks EBD, that was great, and I passed it on to my children.

  15. Here’s Joe Biden trying to infiltrate the normal people crowd to push his gun controls. His radio fireside chat ( #1 )will gather the millions that don’t have TV. Or he’s got nothing better to do. Or Obama is afraid to let him loose, knowing that no one will hear him on radio.

  16. Last night I was able to post twice without even entering a Captcha code. The box showed the famous “red x”.

  17. Jiggs did NOT say this. This language periodically makes the rounds of the internet in postings and emails attributed to him, but these are not his words. You can also find it posted in many places attributed to “a letter to the editor in the UK Daily Mail” or attributed to no one at all. Not sure who said it originally or why they are not getting/taking credit for it. But Jiggs did not author this, nor has he quoted it anywhere.
