2013 Bloggies (Bumped)

Don’t vote for SDA because I ask you to – vote for SDA to piss off the Star Phoenix.

SDA is nominated in the Best Canadian category (for the first time).
The voting period closes Sunday, March 17th. One person, one vote, so this reminder is for those who missed it the first time round.
Anthony Watts has done a good job with the instructions, so just click here and do as he tells you.
Watts Up With That is nominated in two categories, and that’s where my support went. James Delingpole vs American Thinker was a tough choice. I love Delingpole, so he got my vote. But your mileage may vary.
From the Rules:

This is a one person, one vote process that involves a confirmation email E-mail addresses are required to vote. You must use your own address and confirm the verification e-mail.
If you verify a second ballot, your first one will be replaced.

Watts advises that if you don’t get the confirmation email within a half hour, that you check your spam filter. My verification email came within 15 minutes or so. Voting ends March 17th, with winners announced March 24th.
The real value of these awards is in raising the profile of blogs you may never have heard of. Take some time to click around, who knows what gems may be waiting!

  1. You and Anthony got my vote. American Thinker is better than Mr.Delingpole,so I guess my mileage varies…heh.
So when do they have a worlds best?

  2. I voted, but I won’t say how I voted in Best Canadian Blog as some might say I am currying favour. Well, I will admit that I voted for WUWT in both categories. You are right, it was a tough choice between American Thinker and Delingpole. I chose American Thinker.

  3. This year this blog is not getting my vote for several reasons the major of them – it’s been outsourced to a bunch of closet collectivists in wolf clothes who don’t even bother checking snopes before posting 5 year old hoaxes as news. Ashes to ashes.
Let’s see how long this comment survives.

  4. Done!
And I’ll cast vots later on today from separate ‘puters on behalf of Phil, NDPiste, Iberia, and all the other little lefties who, deep in their little make-believe socialist hearts, know that SDAers have an inside track on The Truth! 😉

  5. Done. Voted for Huffington Post,as usual. 😉
Couldn’t finds Kinsella’s blog on the list, must have been an oversight.

  6. Voted SDA after reading procedures again instead of just skimming it the first time and thinking cut off was Feb 17. Bad dog. Hope you win Kate. Great site.

  7. I attempt to limit the number of blogs which I read, but I always pay attention to SDA. So, that’s where my vote went.

  8. I just replaced your non-vote and it felt good.
Your comment has just drifted into the dust bins of irrelevant history.

  9. My email took me here..
    Your ballot has been verified.
Check back on Sunday, March 24 to see the winners!

Too bad Little Green Footballs didn’t come to the top.
    Shite is supposed to float.

  10. Ummm…unlike your other sites,it will stay up.And if you hate SDA so bad,why do you keep showing up,454? Oh wait.Huffie would ban you!

  11. Ok Kate, once again we are off into the pits of hellacious waiting. I am still holding on to my 10 blackhole emails, ;- )
    ,

  12. This is HUGE karma … and really funny for me anyway.
So I vote for SDA and WUWT (the antitheses of Suzuki) and then I scroll down to the submit section to put in my email and write in the two-word CAPTCHA code. You cannot make this stuff up…here is the CAPCHA code: ichcock fruitfly
Just struck me as funny … ichcock fruitfly. ☺
Good luck Kate … and Anthony. And to all who strive to combat world insanity.
To a saner world with no shiny ponies and no giant fans.
From the Big Island (soon to be home in the GWN)

  13. I don’t know what the heck happened but my comment went through without a captcha. Hmmm?
Anyhow, I already voted earlier so unlike the US poll worker I will have to sit on my hands.
Hope Kate, WUWT and either Delingpole or American Thinker win their categories.

  14. As soon as I find a web browser that will let me enter the captcha text to vote I’ll do so. I spend way too much time on SDA, but then it’s my primary news source. WUWT is another one of my favorites but it can be very dangerous and so I just drop by there weekly or so.
Am a bit disappointed that Steve McIntyre’s blog hasn’t made it to the finalist stage. climateaudit is one of my all time favorites as I’ve learned more statistics from reading climateaudit than in all the stats classes I took at university. Maybe a bit too technical for most people.
Glad to see that JoNova is in the running still, but will go with Delingpole’s blog as he’s one of the few mainstream climate realists around. Anyone who writes a book about watermelon’s gets my vote.
Most of the other blogs I spend time on are likely so technical that very few people read them. Curiously, haven’t found a single good medical blog. Seems that most doctors who think the way I do are probably too busy to spend much time blogging or there’s just an aversion to physicians blogging under their own names. Doesn’t seem to stop the physician statists and watermelons though.
Now time to see if I can find a browser that works or might just have to load a fresh version of Mozilla on one of my spare laptops.

  15. Happy to throw in some votes for the Bloggess too. Hopefully my reattempt when the email didn’t come in won’t monkey up my vote, I see they say to just send them a message if you don’t get it in a day.

  16. @marc in calgary, I’m pretty surprised by that. One of the editors Les Macpherson is a cool enough guy. Blew a nice hole in my moderate respect for the Phoenix… if they aren’t doing some frying themselves then they’ve allowed a lot of whingers to fry eggs on their faces.
Well, it’s part of the fun I suppose. My mistake for having anything but extremely provisional respect for an msm bunch.

  17. Wow!! A prize of $20.13…’merican money!! That’ll get a beer or two!
Great to see the real scientist in the ‘science’ category.
    WTG Kate!

  18. Is it just me or did the web site about web site awards really suck? My computer is working just fine this morning (sometimes it doesn’t cooperate), but when I went to that site it was slow to stopped when I clicked on various links.

  19. Um, is there a “supporter” category that allows you to claim me as signed up, even if I haven’t, like, really? If there is, I’m pretty sure you’re going to get 165,000 votes. In Canada. On our streets.
All of which is quite superfluous, since it’s “Done” and I have my email.
Quite apart from which, you seriously deserve to win: nobody has done more than you to change the course of history, except for, maybe, you know, Winston. Plus, you had a winning dog on Animal Planet, which has had the added value of keeping the rabble around my household in check for about 21-28 days now.
    All the best.

  20. Hmmm…8 hours and still no confirmation email. Guess I’ll “send them a message.”

  21. “The editorials that appear in this space represent the opinion of The StarPhoenix. They are unsigned because they do not necessarily represent the personal views of the writers. The positions taken in the editorials are arrived at through discussion among the members of the newspaper’s editorial board, which operates independently from the news departments of the paper.”
And Soviet style group think has always worked so well!!

  22. Thanks for the reminder again, Kate. Forgot the polling was still going on.
Why don’t you keep a reminder up from now until Sunday?

  23. I have voted……but I really wonder with the world so screwed up economically there was no aware for economics. Lots of other bullshit stuff but not economics!!!!

  24. My confirmation email took a few hours to arrive, but the validation was dead easy.
    Good luck Kate.

  25. When I voted on Feb 26th my confirmation email arrived almost immediately.
Just on the off chance that anyone isn’t clear about it, the email is not a confirmation that you voted, you actually vote through that email by clicking on a link in it. If you don’t get the email and click the link you haven’t voted, so keep trying.

  26. You got my vote way back when WUWT sent out the info, you would have got my vote either way!!

  27. Confirmation email was instantaneous for me also, but that captcha sucks! Hard to read- never have that trouble on SDA.
And piss off the star Phoenix? ….Ok, but more like a gd Ostrich!
