  1. Meanwhile economic expert Pat Bolland on Sun TV keeps insisting the U.S. economy is stronger than people think. I suspect he has some obozo lust going on.

  2. Duh! Ya mean that government spending and catastrophically low interest rates gives us artificial short term growth!!::??? For Reallz? Tanks Barry!

  3. All I know is if Bush had gone 5 years without passing a Budget the Liberal Socialist State-Run Media would have hanged the sob.

  4. As usual, anything you read in the WSJ is either fluff or insanely optimistic/conservative. In this case I have read recent figures that peg the US productivity gap at anywhere from 0.5% to over 3%. Whatever is factual, it isn’t good for a nation to have a GDP plunge (real tactile wealth creation) made up for by printing reserve-deficient dollars. Quantitative easing is now an on-going project and is the adverse opposite of what the IMF had told the US Fed to do (contract its money supply) in order to avoid debt meltdown.
One need only look at the stock market to see what all this free money has done – the market is gaining investment (at a time industrials are in productivity/ROI slump) buying madly with cheap money and credit – this is the high risk speculators, divers and frauds having a last roll in the monopoly money before things collapse. Savvy investment forecasters have been saying for months to get your retirement and savings money out of the US markets and into tangibles – but that also “is probably nothing”.
As far as the fed is concerned, an old saying becomes starkly relevant – “give a crook a gun and he’ll rob a bank. Give a crook a bank and he’ll rob the world”.

  5. UNEXPECTED SURPRISING DISAPPOINTING PERPLEXING INCONCEIVABLE #todayseconomicvocabularywords (iowahawk)

  6. Printing $Trillions at zero interest rates worked to save Zimbabwe’s economy.
    Didn’t it?
Or am I thinking of Uganda?
    We’re all Africans now.

  7. And the reason? Cuts to defence spending.
Now unless I’ve missed something, the right has been calling to cuts to government spending for a few years now. This is what happens when you reduce governments spending. And if you want to see the economy continue to be less dependent upon government spending, there will be more small hits like this. Hopefully they will be relatively painless, but no matter how you cut it, it’s gonna hurt a bit.
    So, you know, eat it.

  8. The Presidential campaign was ran on a economic recovery that the OMB verified. Now that the dirty deed has been done the truth can resurface without questions? Short memories are counted on which ends up being a safe bet.

  9. 45 billion dollars in defense cuts does not dump GDP by this much. This is Obama doesn’t care and his tax hikes on millionaires and billionaires.

  10. John,
    Federal outlays by quarter:
    1st: 966,188
    2nd: 884,957
    3rd: 809,969
    4th: 907,912
Crappy economy due to failed policy.

  11. So John and L are for big gubermint.Surprise.The only ones government cut backs are going to hurt are the whores, pimps, and sleazes(includes public servants) on the gubermints tit.In other words, the useless who are producing nothing anyways.
    WE NEED more OWS.Faster please.

  12. Cuts in defense spending won’t accomplish very much and might even have a negative effect. Every soldier, airman, sailor or defense worker that is removed from the productive government payroll is transferred to the unproductive government payroll of unemployment insurance, disability or welfare.
Alan Caruba points out that the US middle class taxpayer is now paying more than 50% of his or her wages to taxes. The Canadian taxpayer was paying 42% in 2010 according to the Fraser Institute.
From A to Z, the United States of America will ‘fundamentally transform’ into the United States of Zimbabwe.

  13. Watch as individual States begin to decouple from the Obama train headed for the busted train bridge. Its a long way down. But hey its what Obama wants. He is turning the USA into the Scattered disunited States.
They at least are fighting back
Notice how his cronies, including the MSM indulge in wishful thinking. Calling the coming economic rape by federal printing presses in the Fed, into a recovery.
For their Messiah cannot fail. Perhaps the dissolution of America, is their dream as well. The sad thing is Americans are so boxed in by the Media they don’t even know it.
Just as Canadians did,t see Trudeau destroy Canada for 40 years.
Whats disturbing me is you can see the decline by the lack of real American power that has stabilized most of the Planet.
