In his most recent column, Charles Krauthammer illustrates in vivid detail how Obama has dramatically increased spending and will continue on that path unabated. Undoubtedly, the “Math is Hard” crowd just yawns.

And yet I remember K saying we should offer a toast to Ben and Tim for saving the economy.
America keeps electing a Republican House to counter Obama but they forget their testicles at home when they go to Washington. Presidents have always compromised to get things through Congress. That is called a safeguard. Obama just bulls his way on through using the friendly media to lambast the Republicans and they cave. Obama’s spending has gone wild by the will of a Congress he doesn’t even control.
It took longer than 8 years. Closer to 80 actually.
Obama believes government is smarter than the people, who are simply one of its “parts.” Because of that he believes government spending is more efficient than private, in spite of overwhelmingly contrary evidence. He also believes he is possibly the best president ever, despite overhwelmingly contrary evidence – he ramps up spending while signing Americans unto an unfunded demographic cost hurricane and now plunges further into a war on carbon, forcing the consumer to fund pitiful, unproductive alternative energy technologies.
And now he doesn’t give a s**t what anybody thinks because he is electorally untethered. he has become an allegory of Friedrich Hayek’s “The Fatal Conceit” thinking that magically a little more can be taken from the few “rich” to give much more to the many “poor.”
Obama’s fatal conceit, now fully uncovered in his inaugural speech, is dynamite for American economic prospects. his two-fold attack on the treasury with massive expenditures on relatively new areas such as public health care and alternative energy could certainly be fatal for the US economy. The next four years will mean driving up the cost of government and its debt, while driving productivity down with entitlements, higher taxation and far more costly energy.
I submit this will require an overbearing approach involving intergenerational conflict and ultimately, further government control, as Hayek explains:
“The argument for liberty is not an argument against organization, which is one of the most powerful tools human reason can employ, but an argument against all exclusive, privileged, monopolistic organization, against the use of coercion to prevent others from doing better.”
And this gem from “The Road to Serfdom:”
“It is true that the virtues which are less esteemed and practiced now–independence, self-reliance, and the willingness to bear risks, the readiness to back one’s own conviction against a majority, and the willingness to voluntary cooperation with one’s neighbors–are essentially those on which the individualist society rests. Collectivism has nothing to put in their place, and in so far as it already has destroyed them it has left a void filled by nothing but the demand for obedience and the compulsion of the individual to what is collectively decided to be good.”
This is PET’s “Just Society” on steroids. I mentioned to a leftist, but somewhat reasonable friend, that the Obama presidency is now at a point where they don’t care what anybody thinks they are going full throttle forward into statism and borrowing and it’s not going to be good. My friend looked me in the eye and said “I think you’re right about that.”
“Obama is no Clinton. He doesn’t abolish entitlements; he preserves the old ones and creates new ones in pursuit of a vision of a more just social order where fighting inequality and leveling social differences are the great task of government.”
I still think Krauthammer is missing the big picture. Obama is not some bleeding heart who is naively trying to bring equality to all.
He is intentionally steering America off the finacial cliff as quickly as possible. Cloward and Piven writ large.
And it will not be done in half measures. He wants to ensure America never recovers its former glory, and that its remains will be lorded over by its new masters.
Those who crave power over people for its own sake do not care what they rule over, only that it is they that must rule.
Has there ever been a progressive that has relinquished the reigns of power, once his state has become a smoking, stagnant cesspool of ruin? That is when the tyrant cements his grip.
Destroying a free state/market is the only way to true unadulterated power, and that is Obamas goal.

Krauthammer quotes Reagan “Government is not the solution to our problems, goverment is the problem.” I don’t think Obama thinks government is the solution or the problem. I think he thinks neither of problems nor solutions, but government to him is its own meaning and purpose.

Yup, three years and no budget. It sure is hard to compromise when you are stuck on “I won!”.
Yes, John that is, not counting massive new obligations such as bailouts, Obamacare and driving the economy into the dumper by taxing carbon. The article doesn’t mention these items or that the previous administrations benefitted from falling, not rising interest rates and could count on the massive productivity growth afforded by the baby boomers.

Frank Q. I prefer the term left-wing fascist. Communist suggests he is a member of the party or at least openly advocates a peoples dictatorship, also the term is too provocative leaving one opens to charges of McCarthyism.
