Justin Trudeau agreed to an interview with Global TV’s Jas Johal yesterday, which you can watch here.
Here is the reaction of well known B.C. political pundit, Alex G. Tsakumis, republished with permission:
If this is the idiotic, rhetorical ineffectiveness that the Liberal Party of Canada and their team of fools, think is going to get an unaccomplished, airhead across the goal line before Stephen Harper, then I misjudged the Grits integrity — they have none. It’s grotesquely offensive to me as a Canadian that the Liberal Party of Canada has clearly learned nothing from the progressively more punishing rebuke they earned, thrice, at the polls. Win, by all means. But the offering of Justin Trudeau as anything even approaching a legitimate, credible candidate, is so utterly and completely insulting to the intelligence of the Canadian public. Being in public life shouldn’t be on-the-job training. His interview with Jas Johal tonight, only confirms that Trudeau has not only inherited his mother’s looks, but her brains, too. Very disappointing, and a contemptible disregard for real issues. Just fluff. And beyond belief that anyone in the media could possibly take him in any way seriously. Beyond belief.

While I agree with the view that Justin Trudeau is a nice kid who is learning on the job – and that Canada can’t afford that – I worry about the meme that goes “Sigh. He got his mother’s brains.” His father was an economic nincompoop too.
Second point: if the Conservatives work themselves into a lather about “the second coming of Trudeau,” they’re playing right into the hands of the Liberals, who _want_ this to be their narrative. In my opinion, the line should be, “Yeah, his name is Trudeau – so what? All show and no substance.” (Or, as an early catchphrase had it, “He’s cute, but can he type?”
The Legacy Media doesn’t report to Canadians what Conservatives think about their competition. The mass of Canadians will never know.
I don’t think Canadians will again be swept up in Trudeau-mania or any other personality cult focused on a homegrown politician.
That’s a good thing.
Mesdames et Monsieurs, I present to you the twenty third Prime Minister of Canada.
Usually, a healthy Liberal Party could serve the purpose of keeping Harper’s people honest, but under the circumstances a look over the border will provide more than enough contrast.
If the lieberals want to commit suicide, it’s fine by me. Listening to that interview was excruciatingly painful and the word “moron” kept popping into my mind. I can’t quite figure out how PMSH has “divided” Canadians to get a majority government. Maybe it’s the same type of logic that allows people to say, with a straight face, that unprecedented global warming has caused record cold.
In comparison to the shiny pony, his mother is starting to look like a genius.
Mary, not on my watch. I like making certain types regret their hubris, hell hath no fury like an angry web creature.
dwright
Is he in your hip pocket or what?
Perhaps you will be presenting him on a canape’ or, as is the traditional Liberal way, in a brown paper bag under the table like the $400 million the LPC stole from Canadian taxpayers under Chretien and have yet to pay back?
More precisely, the twenty-turd Premier Ministre du Canada. Name-brand alone will not sell this product, but Junior’s attempt at speech is self-defeating. This one’s magic would best be manifested muted, as the Elf-on-the-shelf, whose mystique captivates children for a season…
Altogether to kind. His mother wasn’t that good looking.
I fully support Justin Trudeau’s leadership bid. May he be victorious.
Couldn’t have put it better myself.
Minuteman: His [Justin’s] mother wasn’t that good looking.
So true. And how anyone can think that the Shiny Pony’s handsome, cute, whatever, is beyond me. All I see when I look at him is a pampered “pretty” boy with the less-than-manly voice whose only claim to fame is the Trudeau name — whoopie! — and his million$ in the bank, neither of which qualify him for the leadership of Block Parents let alone of a national political party.
The Liberals will say PM Harper has divided Canadians because he got his majority without Quebec.
Trudeau made a statement about supporting Quebec should they decide to separate did he not? He and they better look in the mirror before attempting to talk about dividing the country.
be very afraid. he may be just like oblama. nothing to give but a viralent MSM propaganda blitz.
Mr. Harper stands head and shoulders above the whole crop on his left. The raging bearded clam and serial nimcompoop MulledHair. The Shining Pony and the Grotesque Manatee Chairman Ma Green of the Green Commies. But they have the control of the totally coddled MSM in Canada and all of the MSM owe allegiance to no one in Canada especially the people of Canada or the facts. All of the msm in Canada recieves varying degrees of tax dollars via various scams. And they all love the Manatee, The Bearded Clam and the Shiny Pony. Why do you think the Chief of the small Hamlet under Saint Theresa Spendit’s jurisdiction is so well rec’d and promoted in the media. Our media is the key.
Justin — “I will continue to say what I think and think what I say”.
I think he needs a teleprompter. Go Justin Go.
LOL.
I like that point about a strong liberal party keeping the conservatives honest.
Unfortunately, given the turdies and Turdo’s that currently infest the liberal party – that would be like having drunks in charge of the liquor store!
This is the Jean-Poutine Legacy, you liberal dick heads! Enjoy it.
Oz writes: “I don’t think Canadians will again be swept up in Trudeau-mania or any other personality cult focused on a homegrown politician.”
I wish I could be equally confident. Too many of my otherwise intelligent and articulate friends are sporting “Justin” buttons and pushing his cause. As they were/are with Obama, they have become impervious to fact and rational discourse. The fact that most of them teach in schools and universities is even more disheartening.
Roseberry, I agree. Clint Eastwood’s “empty chair” skit aptly describes Justin Trudeau, but the Bieber crowd will look to Trudeau as the second coming.
One thing the Tories have to counter the man is their glorious machine. The campaign attack machine that destroyed Dion and Ignatieff. They are out grossing their competition by millions.
With all do respect Peter O’Keefe, “Keeping Harpers people honest”: How many money scandals have the Harper conservatives had so far? In comparison to the thieving liberals, with their 35 years of monthly Adscams, HRDC’s Gun Control, Alphonso Cashbaglianos Jailing Farmers, Crooked Wheat Boards etc/on and on, these 7 years of no thefts have left Canadas Don King media types out of a job. But when your main job was running cover for the Treasury robbing Liberal Party of Canada when not falsifying news and starting fights, That is a good thing for Canada. Thank the informed voters of Canada to finally rid us of the yoke of what the Americans are getting now, by electing Steven Harper we have an adult with a class 1 license driving the bus through the mountains of world affairs and finances, not a drug addled teenager like Justin at the wheel like media types like.
This is also the same core party that put MILF Clark in power in BC, and look how thats turning out, as well as Iggt and Dionsky.
After Dionsky, they realized that charisma was important, but didn’t see it in Iggy. Now they will double down on Turdeau.
What a foppish zero this guy is. Vapid, which makes him a perfect Liberal.
And yeah, the left hates Harper, because he is Harper. The media keeps trying and trying to invent and fabricate hatred toward him, but continually fail. They criticize him for wwwhat he does well, bad form on their part, but stick with it.
The left hates Harper because he is not left. That is the fact, that is how the left operates. We may say, and have, that Layton may be a nice guy, plaayed a good guitar, and was affable when the lights went down. From a lefty? All you would hear is hatred about PMSH.
“…the offering of Justin Trudeau as anything even approaching a legitimate, credible candidate, is so utterly and completely insulting to the intelligence of the Canadian public…”
Are you kidding? Trudeau embodies the Canadian public: silly, effete, vacuous and narcissistic.
“…only confirms that Trudeau has not only inherited his mother’s looks, but her brains, too…”
Implying that the old man had brains. Another Liberal myth that can’t be substantiated. He lacked the intellectual rigour to complete his studies at Harvard; his grasp of economics was infantile; he alienated his friends and consorted with communist dictattors; and, he married Margaret. Sure, Trudeau was just &*^%$#g brilliant.
See, now if I said that, people would be saying how catty it was. I’m a victim of sexism, I tells ya.
Be careful. See what has happened here. A ton of uninformed voters put their cult leader into office and the country will be much the worse for it. Same can happen to you.
The quote is provocative indeed, but once again I am offended by the unwarranted and unnecessary slur of Margaret. The expression “inheriting his mother’s brains” is by now a silly cliche. Largely the woman is being judged on the basis of youthful behaviour — something most of us would not be comfortable with should anyone judge us in the same way. Moreover, I do not find Justin particularly stupid, though he is not yet ready for prime time in my view. Criticism of the Liberal party in this instance is totally warranted. The business of anointing someone because of their name does show a lack of seriousness.
Hey, at least he’s not humping the Rolling Stones.
That we know of.
I rather liked Justin as Young MacIntosh in Disney’s Brave. (google image to jog your memory)
where can I find the write-up in its totality? Broken link?
Anyone?
I think Justin is the perfect choice for Liberal leader. Vacuous, vapid and vain. As a matter of fact I have signed up as a Liberal supporter and plan on voting for the divine doyen.
He’s here in Prince George today. Be still, my beating heart!!!
He will win the leadership because the media loves him, just like they love Obama in the US.
And the voters in Canada will likely seem him the same way the voters in the US see Obama.
Sad to see how low western civilization has sunk.
Mike, if you’re referring to the one from Tsakumis, that is it in totality. He posted it on his Facebook page and he gave me permission to republish it here.
In what ways are “Harper’s people” dishonest? These casual libels are infuriating.
I have been following JT’s sound bites because, frankly, he interests me and I’m trying to cut through the media hype and his play-to-emotions partisan theatrics, to see if there is any substance to this young politico who could be a major influence in Canadian politics and public policy.
Try as I might I just can’t divine what he stands for (we all know what he stands against, which is anything brand named “Conservative” – ideologically, party, government or leaders) but he seems absolutely nebulous in offering any alternative vision or ideology which resonates with more seasoned voters such as myself. Personally, I feel if he got off the anti-gun, green dictator, UN collectivist police state agenda, and was interested in truly serving the Canadian public (regardless of their political opinion/position) I may even vote for him. Primarily because I really think that if he promises to leave my individual rights, my duck gun, my business/property and personal choices alone he will – he seems to have a modicum of integrity (of course this can vanish in a heartbeat in the inherent despotism of Liberal agenda-driven politics).
So, as it stands now I’m willing to listen to JT – I’m looking to see how he will use political power. Will he use it like so many self serving demagogue leftists do, to silence and oppress their ideological opponents and dissenters and destroy national economies and social cohesion enforcing divisive utopian agendas or is he something different? – will he actually use power to make Canada better (More prosperous, more cohesive) for ALL of us no matter where our politics stand.
I’m Listening JT, say something of substance, I’m waiting.
I agree with Dirtman, just look in the White House to see what a lust crazed MSM can do.
Ninety percent of Global’s programming is incredibly fluffy – for proof, just watch their morning ‘news’ program. So an hour wasted with Justin would fit right in with video bites praising Obama, cooking vignettes, and oddly dressed people professing to be ‘entertainers’.
And, may I add, shaken, happy and glorious.
:-))))
As they used to say here in Ontario, before things went seriously off the rails, “40 more years of Tory rule!”
I have always loathed ALL things Trudeau, BUT …
America has just re-elected for a second term (by a decent margin) an airhead socialist preener who spent 4 years PROVING his incompetence, yet here he sits back in the White House.
It’s the HEIGHT of flag-waving “we’re NOT them” Canadianism to assume we won’t do the same thing with Justin.
As Captain Capitalism has pointed out numerous times, far, FAR too many women vote for cute, hunky ‘beta/sensitive’ males who look like they’d be a good, non-threatening ‘sensitive new age’ date instead of tough minded pragmatic LEADERS.
I’m still recovering my emotional balance after the Obamunist’s re-election, and will NEVER AGAIN believe that people “would NEVER vote for” a guy with NO demonstrated achievements RUNNING ANYTHING ANYWHERE!
We’re not THAT ‘different’ from Americans, and they (hugely influenced by THEIR “media party”) have now elected such an unaccomplished Marxist twerp TWICE in a span of 4+ years.
Bet against Trudeau at your peril – I loathe him, but after Obama’s two victories I now fear the collective insanity of ALL voters.
What Davers6 just said. I was sure, sure, SURE, that the America who elected Ronald Reagan twice and George W Bush twice would NEVER see fit to return Obama to the White House. I am no longer so naive; the America I once knew & admired is gone, replaced by something else, something more akin to just another socialist pit rather than the shining city on the hill.
And we think it can’t happen here? That the pretty boy can’t ride his personal popularity into political power despite all common sense saying otherwise? I fear we are not so different from Americans. Harper would emasculate Trudeau in a genuine debate; but the media will wholeheartedly line up on Trudeau’s side and the weak-kneed and weak-willed among us will happily vote Trudeau into power just because he’s not Harper.
I dread that day will come and I simply don’t know what to do about it, or if anything even CAN be done about it.
“We’re not THAT ‘different’ from Americans, and they (hugely influenced by THEIR “media party”) have now elected such an unaccomplished Marxist twerp TWICE in a span of 4+ years.”
Am I the only one who actually stayed up late watching the vote totals?
Romney was ahead all day and the SHAZAM! the lead suddenley changed lated at night and by suddenly I mean in one minute.
The November election was stolen.
Obama had 7-8 million less popular votes, lost 23 electoral votes, and even though 8 million Americans are out of work voter participation was virtually the same as the 2008 election. How does that add up to an Obama win last November?
The difference between Canada and the U.S. is that our elections are harder to game, thats a big difference.
The mechanics are not the same.
The Americans didn’t finish counting the vote until more than 10 days after the election.
10 days? Yet Romney conceded the same night.WTF!
Those people who think the media leads Canadian voters around by the nose must have been too young to have voted during the Charlottetown Accord refferendum.
batb, don’t forget that Trudeau’s main claim to fame is that HE BEAT UP AN INDIAN, just like the Liberal governments have done for so many decades!
I had hoped the LPC would elect a qualified candidate,as I’d much rather have the Liberals in Opposition than the New Communist Party of Canada, under Mulcair.
The Liberals DO have a capitalist base,ie Desmarais and Bombardier,Aspers, etc., but the NDP are pure communist all the way.
I love this Country, and don’t want to turn it into Greece 2. With the inauguration rhetoric yesterday from the Southern Messiah regarding Climate Change and the U.S. leading the way,Canada is in a tough situation.
Harper’s trade meetings in Asia are now more important than ever. I think Harper was fully aware that Obama would go this route when he won a second term,we are damned fortunate to have him in the PM’s office!
But WHAT A CHOICE Canadians have for PM,IF they don’t approve of Stephen Harper, a Commie or a bi-polar nonentity.
Yes Davers6 , I.M. and Oz.
This fetal drug baby, ultimate frisbee coach and substitute drama teacher that couldn’t even pretend one tear, try as he might, at his own fathers funeral, could very well be the next Prime Minister.
Conservatives needed the Liberal party admitting to stealing 100’s of millions of dollars to win it.
“He’s hot” seems to be about as far as the electorate needs to go to pull the switch for any Liberal minded flake.
Never thought that Quebec piece was important. That part of Canada is totally irrelevent in BC and we’re just hoping that eventually they’re going to throw a tantrum and go away. Quebec had a choice of voting for PMSH, but instead they chose to vote for the NDP. Incidentally, it’s scary that the current TOTUS has less business experience than the barmaid who was elected for the NDP in Quebec and whose election was widely seen as an odd political joke.
Given the widespread incompetence of voters, I suggest that we do away with elections entirely and randomly select people to fill elected offices. The only organization this would require is a group of people who were dedicated to the concept that the selection of politicians be as random as possible. The political class would hate this and we’d finally see a vast improvement in the caliber of politicians who wouldn’t want to be there and would likely bring a lot more real world experience to the position.
Don’t count him out! The majority of 300 million Yanks south of us voted for a similar candidate. No substance and all style!
People will vote with starry eyes.
If they could find him a treaty card, he would be a shoe in as a minority. Mamabama got elected on white guilt; that could work for Trudeau.:)
I love this country too, dmorris. Love it to death – just like the others that frequent this site. All too often I tune into some BS mainstream news outlet and I think WRONG WRONG WRONG! Am I the only one who sees the crazy? Now I know I’m not alone.
I’ve been saying for some time now that the best gift any right thinking Canadian can give his country is to contribute to the pretty boy’s campaign. The more time the Libs spend on this moron the better off the country will be in the end.
The media is going to pimp hard for whomever wins the Liberal leadership. They will have 2 1/2 years to do so.That is ample time to turn a Garneau,Findlay,or even a Cauchon into an idol that will save Canada from the evil Harper.
The best bet for Canada is JT as the Liberal leader. He will be the easiest to expose as ‘not a leader’.
Unfortunately the election debates will include Lizzie May this time around, the BQ may also be included to further dilute the mix.It is not a sure second majority with Justin, but he is our best chance for one.
Oz
I watched the counting as well, until late (yeah, I’m a masochist, but an optimistic one!)
That vote jump happened when Kalifornication votes starting to come in, that’s when it was all over. And no surprise, it had 55 college votes, making the whole sham academic. The election was lost in Ohio and Florida, along with a few smaller states.
And yeah, the US is fecked with the empty suit in the WH. What a despicable inaugural address, petty, mean-spirited, and vindictive. Nothing elegant or presidential about it.
And yeah, it could happen here. Look at the youth crowd, The girls and students are agog at his curly hair. And that’s all that counts, not experience, not policy, not smarts, just FEELINGS.
“Hey, at least he’s not humping the Rolling Stones.”
Actually, he would almost assuredly be the humpee.
you go girl!
“…I really think that if he promises to leave my individual rights, my duck gun, my business/property and personal choices alone he will…”
You got to stop smoking that stuff, Occam old buddy. The Pope will turn Protestant first.
