It’s not surprising – given his party’s attitude toward finances, why would they quibble about huge audit discrepancies and the abject waste of taxpayers money? One con honours another. They probably compared notes on technique.

  6. The amusing thing is, that two years after Thomas Mulcaire comes to power, all the federal money will have been spent. The laws of economics are – LAWS. They hold for conservative and communist alike. Then all these fine supporters will be like the Ontario teachers: no longer the good buddies but rather the enemies of Those Who Rule.

Bluetech – from the document in your link, I’m curious about the line “that our welfare – ontario works – shall be cut in half!” Am I reading something into this document, or do the people in Attawhatever receive provincial ‘assistance’ (welfare) in addition to the millions of federal dollars?

  13. If this was any other town, business, etc, you could bet on a forensic audit to be underway as I write, but I wouldn’t count on it. It would be interesting to see where the missing money is hidden. Off shore accounts? Maybe a lot of lumpy mattresses.

    Is Chief Spence an owner, or co-owner of any condos in Florida, Arizona, Hawii or any other state in the USA?
    Does chief Spence own or co-own any real estate off the reserve of Attawapiskat?

  17. What surprises me most is that the idle some more movement is not already distancing itself from Spence et al. Unless there is a complicity here that we are unaware of, at least publicly. Could the whole lot of the chiefs be working in concert because they know the Attawapiskat scandal will be only the first domino to fall? As Ezra often hints there is likely much, much more embezzling going on elsewhere so it makes some sense that the chiefs would be orchestrating the idle business in an attempt to obfuscate and distract. A pre-emptive strike as it were, with the aid their media party allies and once again our Prime Minister has seen this coming and is steadily and cunningly turning the tables on the lot of them, just like he did with the three amigos attempted coup? Hmmmmmmm…

The government of which he’s a member (still, apparently, but who knows?) does nothing about Caledonia, despite its sole constitutional responsibility in the matter*, but Mr. Duncan still manages to stick his nose into Attawapiskat as if he actually has some say in that matter. Unbelieveable!

  24. Amazing, how chief Spence is now not talking to the media? This idle no more has been idling for far too long. I cannot believe how much money this First Nations reserve continues to receive from Canadian tax dollars. Unbelivable! In my opinion, Spence is hiding and creating distractions( so called-hunger strike) to take away from the facts that she cannot justify for millions unaccounted for? Nice salary she makes too? I think a serious investigation is in order regarding Spence and her staff. The public should be made fully aware of where this money has gone. I don’t believe that Prime Minister Harper should even have this meeting with Spence at this time, until a further investigation is in process, regarding Spence and staff.

    Yes,of course they do,if they qualify,and if they are native,that qualifies them.
    The Federal money is to run the reserve and provide for necessities like infrastructure,education,health,escalades,etc.
    If a native lives off-reserve,they bring their treaty card to a doctor,dentist,or pharmacist,and the paperwork is filled out and the treatment freely given.The feds are billed for that.
    But the cheques that herald the frenzy commonly known as ‘welfare wednesday’ are provincial. I have long said that children on reserves are traded like commodities. This is partly why. I’ve seen the reserve and the damage done. The backstabbing and treachery by family,friends,and even child services, is horrendous.
    If a noble brave can set himself up with a woman with four or five kids,he is sitting pretty.
    Our natives will only get to an acceptable place in modern life through a long difficult journey. The ‘idle no more/spence’ group do not want to advance. They want to increase the funds available so the rut will have more toys.

    Excellent question (part of the missing receipts perhaps?)
    But such donating from one level of government to a party in another level should be strictly illegal. Amazingly it apparently is not. Let’s hope that if it did occur that it is made public (or did band admin members made donations? If they did that should already be public). And with it being publicized, it would give PMSH the moral authority to ban it/ make it a criminal act.

  32. cal2, I think the CBC would’ve backpeddled 15-20yrs ago, but now days they take their lead from the U.S. MSM. The media doesn’t backpeddle, what they do now is make even more noise. They just step to the side to distract you, start waving their arms and scream even louder. I happened to be able to watch the first 1/2 hour of Evan Solomon’s /Power and Politics today, just to see the spin. Indeed there was spin, now the mantra is that the feds are just as much to blame for the poor book keeping because they give them the money, the gov’t is supposed to checkup on the natives and the CMHC approved the loans for morgates to build the houses, SO SEE,,, IT’S THE FEDERAL CONSERVATIVES FAULT, lol. The media is slime, I just wished someone would’ve twitered soloman and asked him “if he didn’t care about the poor natives living in tents in the middle of winter, while at the same time all this money was unaccounted for”. Doesn’t he care about the expenditures in the 6 and 7 figures that have NO verification, vendor unknown, and item or service unknown.
    The houses Evan,,,think of the houses that could’ve been built.
    Of course soloman didn’t show the items in the report like Ezra did on his show!
