That move would represent an after tax salary increase of around 8% for those employees moved to a non-income tax state like Texas.
I see some things have changed as far as commenting is concerned, so this is a test comment.
Chevron moving jobs to Texas, something about a ship sinking?
Wait – an oil company is still operating in California? Surely that is a violation of their fiduciary responsibilities to their investors.
Wait isn’t California where the tar pits are /sarc off
My cousin is involved in the move and she’s looking forward to it. She will realise significant savings in housing costs, tax and pay. WIn-Win for the Texas move.
It won’t stop at Texas if the communists keep pushing Federal taxes, plenty of companies are offshoring, or as in the case of Halliburton dividing their Headquarters between the US & Dubai.
Halliburton’s corporate profile reads:
“To strengthen our presence in the Eastern Hemisphere, Halliburton established a second headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The oil and gas business is moving its focus from the increasingly difficult reserves of the Western Hemisphere to the bounty of the Eastern Hemisphere.”
“Increasingly difficult reserves” – in no small part due to increasing regulations and taxation.
Service companies like Halliburton, Schlumberger etcetera love the hard to get to, high technological wells, that is where the BIG money comes from in the way of “service” to the oil companies.
The problem here is that Californians take their crappy politics with them. They’re like locusts. Unable to appreciate what makes a greener pasture, well, greener. Soon enough they’ll push the politics of their new home ever leftward, until it resembles the wasteland they left behind. Same with New England yankees who move to the South.
Oboy, more California liberals moving to Texas.
Joy.
At least they will be infesting Houston and not the rest of the state. I lost nothing in Houston.
So you take some of your business out of the state that has the highest taxe rates, and most restrictions agianst businesses in the world, and some nuts wonder why? Ignorance can be changed, stupid is forever.
As most people in southern California would tell you,….working for a living is so yesterday and all industry is evil. There is a certain pride in having enough regulations and high enough taxes to maintain that pristine lifestyle on borrowed money and insure that jobs in a socialist society are not required to live the good life . That’s why they always vote Democrat. After all , their anointed great leader has never worked a day in his life and just look what he achieved.
Here in Arizona where I am wintering, I have now met 2 different people from California whom have moved their small business here in the last month. They are both conservative and have no love for Jughead or California politics. If I have met 2 think how many more are on the move out of California.
