Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick

"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Erect…..the operative word.
Trying to be politically ‘sexy’ at a whole new level…let’s call it a ‘docu-propaganda’ courtesy of the “Velvet Touch” on your wallet.
I gather the ‘whole-body’ massage extends to the taxpayers who fund the CBC.
When is Jack’s Foundation for wayward girls starting up?
Cheers
Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief

Army Group “True North”
My first voting priority remains property rights in terms of gun ownership. My second remains completely defunding the CBC.
I do agree Jack Layton’s legislative record is non-existent, except for temporarily saving Paul Martin’s government from Adscam.
OTOH, Mr Layton did help with the destruction of the LPC and the BQ, again possibly temporarily. For that he deserves some thanks.
I won’t hold my breath waiting for the CBC Harper our hero movie.
Speaking of massages…..
In a long line of people waiting for a bank teller, one guy suddenly started massaging the back of the person in front of him.
Surprised, the man in front turned and snarled, “Just what the hell you are doing?”
“Well,” said the guy, “you see, I’m a chiropractor and I could see that you were tense, so I had to massage your back. Sometimes I just can’t help practicing my art!”
“That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!” the guy replied. “I work for the NDP. Do you see me screwing the guy in front of me?”
I don’t particularly enjoy slagging the deceased nor do I give a sh*t about Layton’s massage parlour indiscretions. But enough with the mindless adoration by the media for a politician who contributed absolutely nothing to Canada. A career politician whose main claim to fame was signing onto a coalition of self-serving, deranged lunatics who would have promptly turned Canada into an economic basket case had they wrestled power from PMSH.
And as for the magnificent feat of taking a 4th place party to 2nd place … anyone with half a brain knows full well that this was due entirely to fickle Quebec voters who will abandon the NDP in droves come next election.
Layton was the consumate phony and a perennial loser. He was always portrayed by the media as the friend of the “working man” when, in reality, he was no more a friend of the “working man” than Reinhard Heydrich was a friend of the Jews.
Let the man rest in peace and dispense with the sickening post-mortem accolades.
@Hans
Why don’t we shorten it to docuganda?
Quick, easy way to describe these sorts of films. I like it.
Dateline: Toronto
Olivia Chow’s mother put out by late garbage pick-up by private garbage collection firm.
Tweeted Olivia before 9 am:
My mother is in an extra bad mood today. The garbage hasn’t been picked up yet – the wonder of privatization.
(At the risk of making you ralph, the local CBC station did a spot on the Caribana parade and showed Olivia in one of those skimpy little outfits. Shudder).
geez , that wouldnt be the immigrant Olivia Chows mum that stays in subsidized housing as well. looks like the whole of Layton family including his spawn are going to live off the public purse.

Even if I’m objective about it, I honestly can’t remember anything of significance that Jack Layton has done for Canada And whether or not you were a fan of Pierre Trudeau, the fact is the phenomenon of “Trudeaumania” is real history. “Laytonmania” is in fact a complete fabrication by the CBC and free political advertising for the NDP on the taxpayer dime. And the people who voted him in as opposition — the Quebec separatists — did so as a protest vote against the BQ. I don’t think there were any Quebecois weeping in the street when Layton died like they wept in WASPish Toronto.
The only thing of “significance” I recall about Jack Layton is I think a number of years ago he managed to keep Bell Canada from raising the cost of calls in public phone booths — I think he managed to keep it at .10 cents instead of a quarter. It was supposed to help the poor. Unfortunately, it often only helped drug dealers and street buyers who used the public phones so they couldn’t be traced. And nowadays you are hard-pressed to find a public phone that actually functions, because addicts and vandals often rob them or smash them. Anyway, Layton’s “poor” all use cell phones nowadays.
But I guess we can thank Jack for one thing for sure: Thanks to Jack, any man can now enter the sensitive domain of a little girl’s bathroom as long as he dresses up like a woman (music to the ears of every sexual predator awaiting parole from Kingston Penitentiary!)
There is more evidence for aliens and little green men landing at “Area 51” in Nevada, than there is for Jack Layton’s contributions to the good of Canada.
“The man was a fake.”
That one little sentence folks, completely sums up Jack Layton.
Not only was he a fake, he was an obvious fake.
Completely
Biased
Communists
Jack Layton’s political view as well as his facial likeness to the Russian communist Vladimir Lenin is truly breathtaking.
And the CBC has been a Boar’s Nest of communistic and leftist papp ever since it was foisted onto the Canadian public taxpayer teat!
The title is in poor taste. The man no longer lives and judgement is left with his maker. Didn’t your parents teach you to have some respect for the dead?
The title is completely apt, Ed. It’s like we’re giving Jack the same level of respect in death as he had for Olivia in life.
Socialist straight man: “Most people, when they lose a loved one, don’t have to mourn them in public. Does it ever feel strange to share his memory with so many people? Do you wish the process was more private?”
Socialist drip-off-the-old-dipshit: “Jack was never a private person. He… was a public figure for as long as I can remember. It would just seem different not to have people around us celebrating his life, because that’s how we always celebrated things, very publicly.”
That’s mini-Jackylayton inviting everybody; Bring Chalk.

Jack Lenin.
Yes indeed, Joe.
I started watching the video until Ezra Levant’s face appeared so I had to close my browser as fast as possible.
Sorry but just the sight of this guy give me nausea.
I hardly think one has to revise history just because the deceased fulfilled their last biological function (something a dog can do BTW). Dying and ceasing to exist is an unavoidable fact ( unless of course you are Joan Rivers or Micheal Jackson)

I don’t know about Kate, but I was taught to respect the dead, IF they earned that respect in life.Massage Boy did not,and does not.
But then I guess in your world,Stalin,Che,Castro,Mao,etc. deserve accolades.
Something else about Jack, in reference to the Metropolitan Community Church he attended led by a homosexual pastor. In its early days, the MCC appears to have had connections with the San Francisco Gay community and possible fellowship with Jim Jones’ “People’s Temple” — the Marxist-Christian congregation that died in a mass suicide pact in Jonestown Guyana after murdering a U.S. Congressman who was investigating financial irregularities, sex slavery, and involuntary membership among other things, in 1978. (The San Francisco Gay community has always been quite pro-Castro/Marxist; see http://faustasblog.com/2012/05/gay-cuban-americans-protest-raul-castros-daughters-visit/).
Anyway, I recently watched an old documentary on the “People’s Temple” and the Jonestown massacre and one of its members had the surname “Layton”. Probably just coincidence, but I don’t think it’s a very common surname and have often wondered if there was a familial connection to Jack…
Maybe somebody from SDA or BCF could dig deeper.
Not Dead Enough
Has indelible chalk been invented yet?
Bravo Ezra!!
“De mortuis nil nisi bonum.” Apparently the common interpretation, “say nothing but good of the dead”,
is at odds with the legal meaning, which is that nothing harmful can be said of the dead, because,
well, because they are beyond all good or harm. In other words, the dead can’t be defamed; or, at any rate, is not actionable.
Why don’t we erect a plaque at 787 Dundas W? Isn’t the building still in private hands?
Someone might be quite happy to display it for a few dollars. I am prepared to put one or two hundred to the good cause.
Edward at August 9, 2012 3:43 PM,
“Jack was friendly and would have a beer with somebody” is a characteristic that about 20 million adult Canadians also have on any given Saturday night. It’s like saying “Jack brushed his teeth and he also wiped his arse after taking a crap”. So what?
But for most of us the beer and friendship thing was limited to Saturday nights because we had to work for a living — Jack could do it 7 days a week because it was on the taxpayer dime.
I can rub my belly and tap my head at the same time — so give me a State funeral too!
Damn! I missed the Trudeau movie, never even heard of the Mulroney opera, never saw more than the previews of the Tommy Douglas “doc”-umentary,and probably won’t watch this flic about Jack Layton as I’ve already seen Sook-yin Whatever nude in “Shortbus” ( none too impressive, btw).
My question: will I still go to Heaven when I die, being so culturally deprived?
Does it come with a happy ending?
Posted by: Edward at August 9, 2012 3:43 PM
You do not have respect for the dead who did not live a repectfull life.
Let’s review knowing he would be dead in awhile Jake calls an election and if PM Harper would not have won a majority we would have had a coilliton and then Jake dies. Leaving Canada in a pile of crap. That is how much the layton ndp respected Canada.
Well…. at least he was a Canadian, unlike his replacement.
Still a commie is a commie no matter how you slice it.
I’m agree wholeheartedly with Ford. LOL “Friendly”? We’re talking about a man that shoved a fellow hockey-bar patron out of the way so that he wouldn’t miss the contrived opportunity to get his smug, smirking face on television with the rest of the salt-of-the-earth types during election season. This is the same guy who neglected to inform the electorate how ill he really was, knowing that had he won the PM’s chair as the head of a coalition government, that he could very well die in office and thus plunge our country into the midst of a succession crisis with the separatists potentially holding the balance of power at such a critical economic juncture in our nation’s history………….just to secure his legacy of being able to have the history books say “Prime Minister Jack Layton”. That isn’t the sign of someone that is “friendly”; that is the sign of a deeply selfish, vain, and conceited person. Not dead enough indeed.
It may be more usefull if a memorial Bench was also erected such that those NDP’ers “in line” had a place to prepare themselves both coming & going
I met Jack Layton at a community meeting in Jane-Finch when I lived there and he was on Toronto counsul. He was floating the idea of ‘community gun storage’ for hunters and shooters. The shooting community was well represented. After his “I’ll stay and answer questions” comment, you could see on his face that he or his handlers had badly misjudged the crowd. He ended up weaseling out the back, before the meeting was over.
Sorry but just the sight of this guy give me nausea.

Scared, eh?
This plaque needs but one word to describe ‘Handsome Jack’.
“WANKER”
Kinda says it all. . . .
Useless and harmful institutions to be removed
1) Canadian Wheat Board. Done
2) Communist Broadcast Corp, pending
3) Dairy Marketing Board, Pork Marketing Board, Canadian Egg Marketing Agency, etc…..
A giant Phallus lying on a bed with a towel near it. with the inscription: In memorial of Jack Layton care of his ever loving tax bacon, from Towelie & friends.
Jack was a politician in Toronto for many years, besides riding around on a bicycle whining about the politicians who got things done in front of news cameras, his own enduring legacy is
I’m no lefty, but I agree with Edward. Lot’s of prominent right wingers knew the man way better than anyone here does and they considered him to be decent and sincere in his wishes for a better Canada. It’s deplorable that he hired a prostitute but humans fail at times and he ought to be judged on the sum of himself. Olivia was made aware after his interaction with the police. I trust that she wouldn’t have put up with his philandering had it continued. I also surmise that she would be looking out for it much more after the incident. It is because of this, that I believe he took heed of the incident and lead a fair life from there on. True statesmen are cognicent that in a democratic society people can often be decent human beings even if they have opposing political values.
This includes Stephen Harper and Mayor Ford, both of which expressed significant sorrow at his loss. I gather they knew him better than anyone here.
I’m confused as to why Kate uses this headline when she herself declared his death as a “sad day”.
You may disagree with his politics, which I do myself..whole heartedly, but I don’t think he was the devil, merely misguided with personal failings at times.
The headline is indeed in poor taste and ought not to be used anymore. I’m a bit older (67), but I do seem to remember a time when we were much more civil. Kate herself, is not nearly as harsh when I’ve heard her on the radio. Why use the internet as a license for such things?
727 Dundas St W was, from all the related news reports I saw on TV during the final days of the last election, never shown, no reporters ever dispatched there, including those from the state broadcaster, whose headquarters is so close that a reporter and camera operator in tow could’ve walked there.
How can you cover a story without going to the location where the event took place? It would be like reporting on a homicide without actually going to the scene of the crime.
One has to wonder how the story would’ve changed had PMSH, not Layton, been the one placed at the scene in his earlier days in the late 70s, before moving to Alberta, with all the circumstances exactly the same. How many reporters would’ve been standing outside the parlour, pointing out for Canadians exactly where his dirty deeds took place, so as to not confuse us into thinking that it could be a reputable physical therapy centre… you know, the way they did in their attempts to cover for Layton, which was precisely their aim and, more importantly, what these reporters telegraphed for us by never bothering to cover the story from the very location from which it had taken place.
I’ll file that under the category “Movies I’ll Never Watch”. Also in that list is “An Inconvenient Truth”
‘…they considered him to be decent and sincere in his wishes for a better Canada.’
Better than what, exactly?
Paul at 8:17 PM
you’v lived 67 years and you are still “this” stupid
people like you are the reason we have the fools governing us that we have, jackass was in it for himself, and only for himself
“‘…they considered him to be decent and sincere in his wishes for a better Canada.’ There’s the recipe for a pretty deadly TV movie (no pun intended).
What Jamie, marco, and Joe said.
Al-in-Ottawa, good list.
787 dundas would be an excellent location for a commemorative plaque.
We will not be watching that communist propaganda show, and did not watch the movie about Trudeau.
We had enough of honouring communist leaders in the old country.
NME666:
I think you are being unreasonable and I think you owe Paul an apology. There is nothing in Paul’s post that is untoward, offensive or in anyway disrespectful. Paul is expressing his opinion in what I consider as a balanced and respectful manner.
Remember that “thing” about free speech that most of us endorse. Well it also applies to speech with which someone may not agree. That’s why it is called free speech.
Let us not descend to the gutter that we see the leftists occupy, where everything anyone says with which they don’t agree is immediately greeted with vitriol and personal attacks.
Nuff said.
A despicable little Commie whose intention in the last election was to destroy Canada by getting elected Prime Minister and then having the Separatists take control after his death which he knew was imminent. The only movie fit to represent this commies life is a porn flic starring Asian hookers.
Hard to say if Jack Layton was just in it for himself or not but who cares? He was a man who took advantage of vulnerable women and should have gone to jail for it. That’s why we need to erect a plaque at the Velvet Touch “community clinic”.
Good clip on Jack Layton! They did a move about Tommy Douglas in Saskatchewan. The NDP soon lost their popularity.
I worked on the movie set, I had to hire a lawyer to get paid.
The movie got sued for defamation of former PM Jimmy Gardiner. I beleive it was taken off the air.
In the end, if it helped get rid of the NDP–twas worth every penny!
‘We will not be watching that communist propaganda show, and did not watch the movie about Trudeau.
We had enough of honouring communist leaders in the old country.’

Well said Ken (kulak) – listen and learn – getting all ‘that’s O.K.’ gush! with your enemies does not make them into friends’ – paraphrased from Kate, here at SDA.
