  1. The Liberal Progressives have been trying to brainwash our children for a few generations now.
    What’s with the surprise here?

  2. What???? Nothing about how the Chi-com version of communism is superior to the defeated Russian version? Or are they just smart enough to realize that eventually, unless the west smartens up,they will rule the world?(although I would like to be a cockroach on the wall to observe the Commie/Islamofacist conflict).
Hong Kong. Hummmmmmm….must be where a lot of the Brits best and smartest went last century.

  3. This is what Marxists do and it matters not whether they are of the Communist or Fascist variety. Lately, we have seen the left’s efforts to destroy Chich-Fil-A in the US because of the CEO’s support of traditional marriage.
There is a constant effort by the left in many areas of life in the western world to rebuild it in a fashion of their ideology.

  4. Much more vitriol is directed BY the Left than is directed AT it. But the impression left by the MSM is quite the opposite. They (the Progressives/Socialists) have a distinct advantage in controlling what gets through to the printed page and the airwaves.

  5. Sounds like the Toronto School Board with its “Co-parenting” progressive teachers.
Telling children not to listen to their Parents while forcing the LGBT agenda down 7 years olds throats. At least these parents know whats going on. Not in McGinty land though.where education has less to do with learning & more to do with propaganda for leftist causes. No matter how vile.

  6. I had a discussion with a fellow who claimed that China had much changed since Mao.
    Oh really….
Granted schools here are doing much the same, it is still sickening.
Stop trading with China. Cut them off. Nuclearise Japan and South Korea. Make India our new BFF.

“Stop trading with China. Cut them off.”
Great as that sounds, that horse left the barn years ago. They own the USA by the debt they hold alone and by extension own us as the USA is our largest trading partner, not to mention they (USA) own almost everything of value in this country. The vast number of containers arriving daily from China are filled with goods that were made in N America and outsourced but still owned by American interests. The entire stock market would crash beyond recovery.
If we stopped trading with China almost everything you can buy in Hardware stores and even grocery stores would disappear immediately with the exception of fresh meat, vegetables and fruit. Basically, if you can buy it at Walmart it probably comes from China. What does not could probably fit into your average 7-11.

Interesting. I was truly hoping that Kim junior would take a different path than the old man, but it looks like that is not to be. The nuts don’t fall far from the tree.

“besides Canadian Tire would go out of business.”
Can’t think of any hardware/automotive/appliance/electronic or general store that would still have their doors open after 30 days of sanctions with China.

Yup. But there is one difference: the Hong Kong parents are protesting.
Trawna parents piss, whine and moan, but they don’t have the guts to stage protests or pull their kids out of schools.

  11. ” His comments contrast with those of Jiang Yudui, of the pro-Beijing China Civic Education Promotion Association in Hong Kong, who fuelled critics’ suspicions when he said brainwashing was justified.
“A brain needs washing if there is a problem, just as clothes need washing if they’re dirty, and a kidney needs washing if it’s sick,” he said ahead of Sunday’s demonstration, according to local media.
That quote sounds eerily like the pronouncements of the left here, as they seek to ” re-educate ” the ignorant masses . What’s the difference between that chicom’s statement, and The university leftists who speak of the ” false consciousness ” of western, capitalist, free societies.

Blackberries are mass-assembled in Hungary and Mexico. Not sure how much Chinese content is in them.

  13. @ Rizwan
Problem is that 95% of the rare earth material in most of the modern electronics come from chinas inner Mongolia. They control the market and have been reducing supply to drive up the price.

  14. Yeah my very US brand name weed whacker was “assembled in Mexico”…
A few years back, while hauling auto-parts, I discovered that all the rad caps are made in India…….ALL.

The consensus is that Kim Jong Un is emulating his Grandfather Kin Il Sung rather than his late father… in making the “party” more powerful than the military……
That may sound like an improvement but remember his grand-daddy started a shooting war (the Korean War) but his father was more of a posing buffoon….

  16. @peterj
That’s only because they’ve severely undercut the market. There’s no shortage of rare earths, heck we’ve got plenty in Canada, plenty in the US too. All it would take would be China throwing a hissy fit for the mines to reopen and become profitable again.

  17. @ Eli
True but there are not many players in the western word due to the startup costs and the treehugger problem as mining is no longer considered good for Gaia. The most recent to come on line is “Mountain pass Mine” in Cal.which is expected to go into full production later this year. China is still manipulating prices and as in all things Chinese, other countries are finding it difficult to compete.

The millions spent and the hurdles the EPA injects to get a mine operational is the real gamble as China could flood the market and deflate the price until other competitors go out of business. The Chinese are ruthless and anything but stupid. They know they are holding the winning hand, not to mention trillions of dollars in US debt. That can buy a lot of EPA and tree huggers.

Agree but can’t see that happening. China likes the buffer zone and wont help. To south Korea, millions of refugees streaming into their country would overload their systems and water down their own standard of living. The n Koreans have been brainwashed since they were old enough to toddle and would remain in the “great leader” mode for years. Fat kim Un would not give up his God-like status and the military would not give up their power. The sixty year old status quo will remain until there is a war, probably initiated by the north when and if the US pulls out for good. That’s how I see it.
