Wildrose Country

It’s your Alberta election seat projection thread! The first commentor to predict the eventual Alberta election outcome tomorrow will win a free free book from my extensive library of free books.
There are 87 seats up for grabs, contested by 5 parties – PC, Liberal, NDP, Wildrose and Alberta Party.
Thread will close on Monday with the polls.

  1. Hmmmm.  What to do, what to do…
Wildrose Alliance – 55 (Smith acquires her seat)
Progressive Conservatives – 29 (Redford retains her seat)
New Democrats – 3 (Mason retains his seat)
Liberals – 0 (Sherman loses his seat)
    Alberta Party – 0
All my prognostications, including the bonus party leader crystal-ball-gazing, are worth precisely what you lot paid for ’em.   😉

  2. Wildrose 56
    Progressives 23
    NDP 5
    Liberals 2
Alberta Party 1 (why does AB need *four* left-wing parties??)

  3. If our dreams come true and we have a new WRA Premier tomorrow, how will the PCs handle official opposition. Will they accept it or deny it like the liberals have done at the federal level. And if the ndp do not get balance of power, how will they react. Should be interesting times for us here in AB. Who will go down to defeat, my bet is many cabinet ministers will fall. And how many pc mlas have paid back their money. And what if the haven’t, and get elected, where will they sit as redali has said they wont be welcome in her caucus. Perhaps their names should be made public so people wont vote for them as they will just have to sit as independents, unable to do anything for their ridings.

Im thinking a majority by the skin of their teeth!

  5. 62 Wild Rose
    Troika: Dips 4, Liberanos 2, Progressives 25.
My Best Wishes to Wild Rose. Alberta will blossom with a good solid win for some good, solid, stalwart Conservatives who have a Ron Paul ‘Liberty’ bent.
Like you, Mike in Calgary, I like my liberty and I want the people who care about my Liberty driving the state boat. I am hoping that some common sense in Alberta will make Liberty popular and spread like a prairie wild fire.

  6. Robert in Calgary at 3:05; the G&M is throwing up a large WR win Banner to scare left voters into support the PC’s. The MSM has an agenda.
I predict a WR minority with Libranos and New Dippers holding the balance. Sorry!
In recent BC elections the fractional parties virtually disappeared, the votes going to TweedleDummer.

  7. Regards Mary T’s comment:
The more interesting question in the event of a Wildrose minority or even majority is how many PC’s would walk across the floor to join Wildrose.
Wonder how many PC members are having buyers remorse over Redford? The next PC convention will be interesting to see if they reaffirm Redford’s leadership or vote her out (even if she somehow manages to squeak out a minority / majority).

  8. Wildrose = 52
    Pc’s = 26
    Libs = 5
    Ndp = 4
vot splitting will allow 9 also-rans

  9. I’ve gotten the sense that in Calgary there are some wrong headed and uninformed voters… I say:
    WR 50
    Progcon 25
    Dipper 8
    Others 6

  10. Hedging my bets: A lot better than Hudak, not quite as good as the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China.

    Too right.
PS: All fondness for Ontario Conservatives, of course. Even that one family living 100 miles North of Montreal I heard about once. They should qualify for refugee status.
I’ve been watching for NDP signs in my neighborhood, zip, zero nada. I know there must be a few, but the bloody sneaky little buggers never reveal themselves to the rest of us.

  12. Wildrose Party: (Winners): 81
    Think Progress (Progressive Conservatives): 3
    Fiberals (Liberals): 2

Hope I’m wrong and it’s a WRA majority, but the “intolerance” accusation has really hurt us on the doorsteps here in Edmonton. It’s sad that that kind of desperate and sleazy political ploy works to some extent.

  14. (I phoned Wildrose and tried to donate from out of province: not allowed. Could I do it minus a tax receipt? Still not allowed.
Well, my good thoughts and prayers are allowed and were accepted.
    GO, Wildrose!!)

  15. oh what the heck – might as well be pessimistic:
    Wild Rose 37
    Progressive Conservative 37
    New Democraps 9
    Liberals 4

  16. Tempering my wishes with my estimate of the AB electorate:
    Liberals 2

    WR 49

  17. AP 0
    Dips 1
    Libs 2
    P-Cons 19
    WR 65
Without the Big City Transplants from the rest of Canada (BC Dippers, Ontario Libranos and Quebec-east Socialists) there would be a clean sweep of the Progs and WR would be the next Natural Party of Alberta for the next 50 years.
    (Sigh)
But Alberta can’t shut its doors to the freaks from the big eastern city progs (read Allison Redfraud) who want equality for all, as opposed to the responsibility and equality for all which Alberta is so famous for…bunch of Red Necks!!!! ;^D
