Last Fall a business professor in Bangalore, India published a detailed column that explained why America and Europe are on a permanent decline into oblivion. He cited several reasons why, but Nationalization of the Family and Entitlement Mentality were two prime ones.
Here’s a snippet:
The crisis faced by the West is primarily because it has forgotten a six-letter word called ‘saving’ which, again, is the result of forgetting another six letter word called “family”. The West has nationalised families over the last 60 years. Old age, ill health, single motherhood – everything is the responsibility of the state.
When family is a “burden” and children an “encumbrance,” society goes for a toss. Household savings have been negative in the US for long. The total debt to GDP ratio is as high as 400 percent in many countries, including UK. Not only that, the West is facing a severe demographic crisis. The population of Europe during the First World War was nearly 25 percent and today it is around 11 percent and expected to become 3 percent in another 20 years. Europe will disappear from the world map unless migrants from Africa and Asia take it over.
The demographic crisis impacts the West in other ways. Social security goes for a toss since people are living longer and not many from below contribute to their pensions through taxes. So the nationalisation of families becomes a burden on the state.
The “West” as we know it is doomed because of the declining birth rate as compared with Muslimn and Asian countries. They will immigrate or invade.
Your great grandaughters will curse your generation for the burkahs they have to wear.

Lots of governments have had all manner of schemes to increase the birth rate because The Enemy was going to out breed them, ours included. Happens about every 50 to 75 years, people get all in an uproar about the birth rate and then forget about it.

The professor is absolutely right. The socialist entitlement mentality as well as the moral and the decline of the family unit and work ethic is what has done it. Marx’s plan is working well in the western world.
I may not explain this right, but Western Europe and North America are a single unit as far as “empire” is concerned and we are in decline. No empire of the past has come back after reaching the tipping point.
The professor mentioned the work ethic of the English managers. This is very revealing.
My late father-in-law worked for GM in St. Catharines, Ontario for almost three decades until the late 1970s. He said never buy a car made Monday mornings or Friday afternoons.

Because genuine Christianity is personal and not hereditary or a cultural construct, it concerns Christians that the joy and hope they know could be gone in following generations.
Perhaps the finance professor is correct in his pessimistic view of our society. What has changed from a hundred years ago when the US was about to do exceptionally well and now, when it is losing ground? I believe the changing views on family and saving are symptoms of deeper problems than taxation. However, low taxes and no deficits will certainly reduce the power of governments to meddle and corrupt.
We’ve repeated history but with some details changes. The Roman Empire delved into moral decay and now so have we. The statism of western Europe coupled with the tyranny of eastern Europe is what we are seeing now.
We need to remember what made the West great, both morally, industrially and financially.

There has been a systematic attack on Christian values in our society by a variety of progressives. Christian spirituality is something quite different from the business of the Christian religion. The travesties of the religion business have caused many to turn away from spirituality since they can’t separate the two in their minds. Unfortunately for our western society, money has become it’s ‘god’. Many of the values that made western society great have vanished in today’s self-absorbed techno-world. Without spirituality, a society can easily devolve into a group of selfish individuals only concerned with their own self interest. Historically, such societies have been short lived.
Sure having more take home pay helps when raising a family.
I think though having the state F— O– when it comes to many families and instead start to support well meaning parents that have values they’d like to see passed on this has built families in this country for ages imperfect but for the most part kids grew with a sense of direction, having a heart, strong mind and a strong back.
Now the direction is applied by idiots with a degree and no ability to question what they do, instead of mom and dad with enough frequency that the chickens are coming home to roost faster then I thought they would.

Well, saying there is no proof is not quite accurate. The historian Josephus (no friend of Christianity), writing in the first century AD, refers to Jesus by name. He was in the area and certainly had an opportunity to talk to first-hand witnesses.
Moreover, you will forgive me, but even without that, your claim is illogical.
Leaving aside divinity for a moment, the only people who could possibly have ‘invented’ Jesus out of thin air were the Apostles. There are pretty reliable records on the deaths of some of them, men who chose to be tortured to death rather than recant. I’ve yet to hear of any con-man willing to die a lingering death rather than admit to the con. Just doesn’t happen, sorry.
Whether or not the ‘Son of God’ actually descended from heaven is one thing. What is clear however is that there was indeed a man called Jesus (or another name that Time has slurred into Jesus). Further, the people who were in the time and place to know him personally believed so sincerely in his divinity that they allowed themselves to die horrible deaths rather than deny that.
The absence of proof is not the proof of absence. Divine or not, logic would strongly suggest that there was very, very impressive man named Jesus in Palestine at the time.
Frankly I would rather be in a declining North America or Europe any day over a “growing” India. That professor should spend more time examining India’s problems than surmising what may or may not be our future. We could decline for another 300 years and still be better off than your average Indian.

I certainly agree with your general idea here, however I would like to point out that parents today have every opportunity they have ever had to raise children correctly.
While the “state” has what seems like too much influence in today’s world on our kids, it really is a pittance of influence compared to what two devoted and caring parents are able to have.
Thus, I have little concern on how my young kids will turn out, as we are willing and capable to spend the time required to raise them.

Although about 3% (granted, much too high a percentage) of clergy are sexual abusers (most, in the Catholic Church, same-sex abusers, abusers of little boys), 97% are not and live sacrificial lives, mentoring, teaching, coaching, helping young people and their families.
I know a lot of priests. They’re some of the finest, most self-sacrificing, people I know. Abuse exists in all professions — though, I agree, that abuse by priests is especially reprehensible as they hold positions of trust — and if the media were fair (ha!) we’d know about all of the abuse in the educational system. There is far more sexual abuse in schools than in the Church. But, who would know? The CBC’s still talking about Mount Cashel in Newfoundland, a scandal from the ’80s.
Thanks to decades of liberal & “progressive” immigration policies the demographic invasion of Canada is virtually a fait accompli. By some estimates Caucasians will be the minority by 2030. Sharia law will eventually replace our constitution. Soon thereafter our grandchildren can expect to see public hangings and beheadings as half-time entertainment during soccer and hockey (assuming the game survives.)

At timeso f crisis we do not run away we stand and fight and face adversity even demographic, and govornment . It is in these times that we grown adults must make the big huge asacrifises and have more andm ore children but teach them the right way and raise them the right way ultimatley that is what the key to changing the odds is …by running and not doing anything(not having kids or protesting higher taxes) we can assure ourselves and our children and if any at all there childrens children .
If my kids cost me $1 000 000 each, I’d still of had them, and it’s not because I’m rich, because I’m not.

The point is that the abuse in schools, orphanages, churches, etc. by professed Christians has made a lot of people turn away from the religion business in disgust. Unfortunately too many people have been unable to find their inner spirituality without the structure of organized religion businesses.

I would add that people turning away from some organized churches is due to two other issues. One being the anti-religious people feel strong enough through decades of attacks to constantly more openly attack religious people. Second, many main stream churches have become nothing but leftist social clubs and this has turned true believers away to go to other churches or become non church goers.
