I love Dr. Day he has made it very clear that Doctors and patients are just fodder for the state to feed on.
If the subject weren’t so outrageous, the cartoon would be amusing. Canadians are proud of a medical care system that intentionally lets patients die on waiting lists, rather than caring for them, in order to keep costs down and preserve the lie of equal—in our case, equally poor—treatment for all. This is known as a “moral imperative”. Oh, and what’s down is up.

This morning marks the day when I escape Canada’s “Health care delivery monopoly and global funding preservation system”. I am 5 months into a 14 month wait for an appointment with a Dr to then sit 24 months on a surgery wait list…..In the public system.
But…. This AM I’m off to Dr Day’s Cambie Center to meet with a surgeon.

We do not have equal access system. We have merely replaced the ability or desire to pay as the primary consideration for health care with a system that allows people better access on the basis of who they know. My only hope is that the leftist don’t figure out that food is just as important as medicine.
That clip was close ‘shaggy dog story’. It made the point in the first couple of minutes … the other five plus minutes droned on an on which I didn’t bother to listen to.

The medical KGB is why I don’t go to the doctor, even though I likely should. That, and all the doctors are government employees. Sooner die than put myself in a government workers hands.
WCB is another KGB outfit. Big business likes it because it helps keep smaller business from competing. Less competition means lower wages and higher consumer prices…
The dialogue of the politician was overly cynical and obviously contrived sarcasm. The cartoon would have more credibility if honest opinions/facts from both sides of the “debate” (that shall never be allowed) were expressed.
Limits of universality (existence and extent of public funding of insurance) should be a separate debate from the CHCA tenet of “public administration” (public versus private delivery of services).
The only fact one needs to know about universality is that it’s a pyramid scheme destined to fail like all other socialist schemes.

I’ve admired Dr.Day since he appeared on a BCTV News series back in the ’90’s and clearly stated that patients were dying on the wait lists due to operating theater rationing. Day was the first to publicly challenge the status quo.
At the time he was a chief surgeon at VGH,but left soon after that series to start his own clinic. I’ve often wondered if he was “invited” to leave VGH.
So long as doctors are paid by the government, they work for the government, not the patient.
Even Dr. Day will do what WorkSafe BC tells him to do, not necessarily what’s best for the patient. If he doesn’t he won’t get paid.

These foreign trained doctors are not just effectively barred from the system, they are subject to surveilance…..to ensure they do not even advise informally let alone practice medicine…

I just couldn’t watch the whole video,the subject makes me so eff’in mad that we are at this point.I would gladly pay for some customer service for maintaining my HEALTH but since I’m a good little Canadian and not an professional athlete I should just wait and then accept the crappy service. WTF I’ll just go have another beer.

In Jan 2011 Brian did my rotator cuff surgery at Cambie. I suffered through the Alberta system from Feb of 2009 until Sept 2010 while the system tried to schedule me for the surgery. My Sports Doc who did his best to schedule the procedure had both surgeons he recommended refuse to schedule me as “I was too old” and “I am too busy for somebody of this age”. I asked for copies of the comments in the file, but of course I had no way of getting the hard copy. My reply was that I would go to Phoenix or Cambie and get it done. Doc’s reply was ” go to Cambie they are just as good and less expensive”.
I met Dr Day and we had a good discussion re the problems and misallocations of resources in of our health system. He is fighting the good fight and deserves everbody’s support.
After a year of Physio the shoulder is now at 95%…am waiting for the Blue Jays to summon me to spring training as I still think I can pitch at 68 years old.

Typical mini-tyrant behavior. It’s what this system creates.
What we can do? Get Wild Rose elected. Not much may change, or can be changed very quickly, but the mini-tyrants will be less confident about deciding the lives of others.

Yes there are problems that need fix’n but its not a wait till you die system. Both uncles just had a triple bypass, my mum had cancer surgery. I just went through 1 year of pysio had the top specialist in the field helping me,all cost us nothing.
I work part time just make rent couldn’t afford Private anything.
If we were in the US we would be bankrupt or dead.
The drugs I take cost 6$ for 50 in the US the same bottle goes for 123$ Government buys the drugs in bulk and if a company tries to screw them they make it themselves. This keeps prices down not up. Everyone is getting old so the system is falling apart, that would be the same for private or public.

“Too old” is the mantra/litmus test for whether or not you get the treatment you need — or whether or not you’re admitted to hospital. I had to pull out all the stops — and was treated to verbal abuse by the attending nurse who didn’t like my assertiveness — to get my 83-year-old mother admitted when it was clear she was fading fast.
No one seemed to give a **it and if it hadn’t been for my insistence that she be admitted and stabilized, I figure I’d be motherless and richer by now.

What do I do? If something is important enough, property rights for example, I organize responses: tractors on Hwy 401; barricading Conservation Authority Offices; protests on Parliament Hill; etc…that’s what I do.

Last time I checked you drive a car went to school and have a military and police force protecting you,is your water safe.What makes you so special.? I’m not a socialist by any means Id love to go back to the gold standard.What you are implying is anarchy no go government at all.Even capitalism wouldn’t survive in such a system.If it came down to it I would rather defund your roads then health care. We as a society are aging and need help. Do you want to live in a society that lets its people die on the streets when they can clearly help them. You can pay tolls everywhere you go, why should the poor pay for the rich are you special too?
