If you ever needed evidence that not all Republicans are fiscally conservative, look no further than Maryland Congressman Roscoe Bartlett who has lent his support to the “Stache Act” which would give men a tax deduction of up to $250 a year for facial hair grooming.

Google is your friend.
“Hold up. Before we criticize anyone for anything, can we take a step back to point out what the ‘Stache Act is — an elaborate joke about Washington advocacy?”

My Italian Auntie would say that only giving men the Stache Act deduction is sexist.
Hey, the ladies tell me my mustache acts as a contraceptive. Would that mean I could double dip?
You laugh, but I carry a substantial expense that I should be compensated for, lest my ungroomed face offend (more).
Oh, me of little face.
I should move to the US, that’s a tax deduction I could really use!!
Oz, you Auntie story reminds me of Eddie Murphy’s Aunt Bunny!
Robert, I’m not sure what your point is because the congressman has, in fact, not lent support to the measure. I don’t think Bartlett comes out of this looking too bad so far. Am I misreading this?
I think you have labelled this person unfairly. From the second and third paragraphs of the article:
“But Bartlett’s office said he never supported the measure. Staffers said Wednesday that they only forwarded a copy of the proposal to the House Ways & Means Committee, without the congressman’s knowledge, after receiving a media inquiry about it. That led the institute to believe Bartlett, who has long had a mustache, supported the measure.
“For the record: Roscoe is pro-stache, but he does not believe Americans should pay for people’s personal grooming decisions,” Bartlett’s chief of staff, Deborah Burrell, said in a statement.”
Probably ought to check the date set for the Million Mustache March.
Have I been fooled or not? I’ve done more reading on this, after what I’ve done already, and the Stache Act appears to be real. If someone can provide a definitive link that it is a hoax, I’d much appreciate it!
The blame for many of the fiscal problems we face today goes on the heads of CINO fools.
In the US …. Republicans who have no more sense than the worst of the leftarded Dems.
In Canada CPC and provincial pols who are blatant frauds in maters of conservative principle.
Hey , no fair. What about the women and their staches. Think I’m kidding? I have a aunt in Ohio and the only difference between her and a elephant is about 500 lbs. and a black dress. You should see the soup strainer on that woman. As oz pointed out……sexist.
Peterj.. You beat me to the punch.. I used to work with a coven of rad-feminist and the stashes on that bunch would make Sam Elliot look like a 12 year old..
The group had a minimum weight standard apparently for membership in the gaggle.
No tax cut can be all bad.
How about a Grizzly Adams fur face? I could probably write off a hole crap load of taxes.
btw, went to school with a nice Italian girl who could qualify for a stach eduction and also compete on Iron Chef where the secret ingredient is pasta.
and i really need a tax deduction for my poor old sheddin’ pussy, we aren’t talking facial grooming here but it is grooming nonetheless.
not all Republicans are fiscally conservative
This statement implies that there are more than 10 fiscally conservative Republicans in the USG. There aren’t. Republicans and Democrats are pretty much interchangeable.
Bartlett’s proposal is just plain frivolous and silly. If he was serious he would have followed the example of Britain and Russia who both introduced a “sumptuary” tax in the 1500’s and 1700’s respectively on men with beards.
