  1. “GM blamed the lack of sales in January on “exaggerated” media reports and the federal government’s investigation into Volt batteries catching fire,”
Always something to blame …. the fact is … it was a loser … They should take it like a man …. no one wanted to buy this loser.
Ford didn’t blame anyone but themselves for the Edsel.
Car makers used to tougher than they are now … could that be the nanny state syndrome?

  2. Cancelling the “Volt”…I have to say I’m shocked!

  3. They’re actually taking a pause to introduce 2 new models. The Amp and the Ohm. That will help them overcome the current resistance to the idea of electric cars.

  4. What a reVOLTing development. Of course, the direction came from DC (as in Washington, DC) Didn’t the somebody build a car called the AC Cobra? This could lead to an electrifying conclusion!

  5. @mike – good one! Maybe they can launch a new gas powered version in response to the failure. How ’bout the Revolt!?

  6. East Germany’s Erich Honecker had the Trabant, Obama has the Volt.
They’ll go nicely together in a museum, somewhere.

  7. @mike
So are you saying the Ohm will be the new mantra the left will be chanting? With the auto industry in such flux, I don’t think it is possible to solder together the support to switch capacitor to transistor to full hybrid or electric car production, as that hertz shareholders returns and plugs the flow of new capital investment. Remember the old saying, watts good for GM is good for the USA.
    @Aviator
It was actually the AC Ace that became the Shelby Cobra, with it’s shocking performance.

  8. There are enough one liners here for a whole late night show. Good stuff. GM has some good products but the Volt is one that will be used against him in coming election.

  9. Volt production is down only temporarily to realign inventories with demand. It will be down for good after the election, no matter who wins.

If Obama gets back in I would bet the Volt will continue at any cost. This is a p*ssing contest between ideology and common sense and as long as its only taxpayers money , common sense doesn’t stand a chance. His win would confirm in his own mind that he is on the right track. Like McGuinty with his windmills.

  11. The common misconception here is that the left ever intended to buy and drive anything like the Volt. The plan is for US to drive Volts and that other aberration manufactured by Nissan. The Lefties fully intend to keep their Mercedes,Beemers and Lexus. This is how they will satisfy their need to feel better than someone, namely us.Elitism is alive and well within the parties of the Lieberals and Dippers.

  12. So once Obamacare is struck down is there any single “accomplishment” this guy can point to? ANYTHING at all? For real here.

  13. Don’t put the same power management chain of a crap CN locomotive into a poorly built sh!t box.
Irregardless of the fire scandal, the Volt is a short circuit.
