  1. That actually sounds like a weekend away from the shitshow that is the CBC / CTV in Canada… and you won’t have to “get checked” at the local downtown clinic monday morning either.
http://conservativecruises.com/ … has some quality time available with Mark Steyn, Olie North !, Fred Thompson, others…
Why does John Miller, “expert witness”… have a problem with private individuals spending private time and private money to exchange ideas with like minded people?
You’d think an “expert witness” would catch onto what those people were selling / or what those attending would be attracted to.

  2. Do I know john miller,or is he just another leftist that thinks that Hitler,Stalin,Mao and Polpot were good guys. After all, think of the good they did to combat global warming and institute gun control.Jeez, these guys were ahead of their time. They didnt just talk about stopping CO2 emmissions, they DID something about it. Hero’s of the left.

  3. “Makes you wonder when was the last time a group of ideological warriors went north to train in the backwoods and plot to storm Parliament, blow up the CBC, seize the airwaves and spread terror across the land. Oh yeah, the Toronto 18 did that. Didn’t police arrest the lot of them and call them the gravest threat to our democracy?
I think a weekend with Ezra and friends could be something just like that.”
Okay,so another left-winger doesn’t like the Conservatives, conservatives,or SUN-TV. Is it possible for any of them to tell us coherently why they disagree with any of the above, without resorting to “end of the world” rhetoric?
Ezra and the Toronto 18? Give me a break! And I’ll read your next column after you grow up,John.

  4. “John G. Miller aka “The Journalism Doctor” is above having comments on his “ultra-intelligent” blog posts. There’s no greater fun than Mark Steyn poking him like a piňata!

Just hit his contact button and send him a message. He promises to get right back to you.

  5. …. The only thing that sets them apart from the Muslim extremists is that Sun Media will be charging you admission.”
If this guy once had a grip on reality, he’s clearly now lost it.

  6. Qualifier, I went to Ryerson and while there hung out with some journalism students… they always told me that when doing newspaper assignments the Toronto Sun was forbidden to be used as a source. So I wasn’t surprised to see in his bio…
“•I taught journalism for 23 years at Ryerson University ”

  7. The “Journalism Doctor” actually did a study of how the media covered the Toronto 18 terrorists… here’s his conclusion:
“a significant portion of the published commentary raised unreasonable public alarm, cast suspicion on the followers of a major religion and impugned the religion itself, failed to subject the allegations of our government and security officials to rigorous scrutiny, and predicted guilt before the suspects were able to exercise their democratic rights to a fair trial.” http://storage.ubertor.com/cl7021/content/document/47.pdf
Now in the blog post above, he actually argues that Ezra & Sun News are worse than the Toronto 18 terrorists… Raising unreasonable public alarm about Conservatives is, of course, just fine in Ryerson’s Journalism Department.

  8. “The only thing that sets them apart from the Muslim extremists is that Sun Media will be charging you admission.” – John Miller
But they won’t hack off your head if you disagree, they won’t stone your wife to death for flashing ankle and you don’t have stick your ass in someone’s face five times a day to prove you believe in magic.

  9. He went to journalism Med School.
“Wow, that sounds like a cattle call for any white, barrel sucking immigrant hater who’s too stupid to find out the regular room rate at the Muskoka Marriott is only $199.”
I think the good doctor might still be a little bitter about the Mark Steyn thing, don’t you?

  10. John Miller is, as he always was, an irrelevant piece of used chewing gum. The fear in these “one world view only” people as the Sun shines on the crap they have spewed for years in their once comfy left-only media universe is quite palpable. As Mark Steyn pointed out, Miller is as much a real journalist as he is a real Phd. Next topic, pa-leeze.

  11. The John Millers of the world are on the offensive because they realize their monopoly of the storyline and all its requisite perqs is in grave jeopardy. It’s a beautiful thing.

  12. Ah yes, John Miller! Mark Steyn’s punching bag. Or why it is a really really bad idea to challenge Mark’s facts.

  13. EyesWideShut, I don’t think he has a PhD, either real or fake. His resume lists a BA from UWO in 1965, but that’s it.

  14. It’s good to finally put a face to the intellectually stunted Steyn-throw-away. One would think that hatred, intolerance and bigotry masquerading as sarcasm is not much of a J-school trick for such a preening poseur. Is this what the entitled professoriate considers quality these days? I guess that when your worldview boils down to the advocacy for state-sanctioned looters and thugs we shouldn’t expect much from their “intellectual” cheerleaders.

  15. There was a recent article in the North Florida regional newspaper essentially asking to trade Canada’s Prime Minister with The U.S.A. President long enough to slow down the Socialism in America.
An offshoot from our several Amersican friends as we spend our Snow Bird time in Florida’s “Redneck Riviera”. (This phrase is not the putdown it is intended to be by the smearedia but enjoyed by all the Snowbirds from the midwest and Southern Ontario and worn with pride). Please remember the real origin of the term is the red handkerchiefs worn by the “Over the Mountain Rebels” when they drove back the British regulars during the Revolutionary War, contributing to British low morale and assisting in the the defeat of Cornwallis’ Army.
Any ways the offshoot is the many requests for information on what T.V. channels from Canada they can use and what newspapers.
    My response, naturally is Sun News and the National Post. Feedback includes the columns from Conrad Black; et al and “Geez! I did not know anything about the AGW opposition until I watched Sun News”. Cheers;

  16. When I read his ravings about the Freedom Weekend, all I can think of is: A pathetic little man, in a pathetic little universe, that is populated by pathetic little people. An absolute embarrassment that he is in Canada.

  17. I think he just committed the journalistic equivalent of suicide without help.
    What a jackass.
Says one thing though. Sun news is causing the leftists to have mental break downs.
They have no cure for reality.

  18. John Miller, I know you’re reading. In the spirit of human compassion I beg you, for your own good – don’t diss Oriana Fallaci ever again.

  19. (Although I guess if he did it on his blog, there’s an even chance noone would ever find out.)

  20. “barrel sucking immigrant hater”
I like Adler, the immigrant – Miller is apparently the immigrant hater

  21. On his blog, he has a heading “What I do” and among those endeavours, he lists “Yesterday’s news”. Sort of sums it up, doesn’t it? I find it increasingly curious that after having it their own way for decades, the Left, now under scrutiny on several fronts, are lashing out wherever they can and looking increasingly ridiculous. Prime example, this one.

  22. Kate, I’m not sure I’m going to forgive you for sending me to John Miller’s twilight zone of the mindless. And by the way, just ask the good folks in Port Hope what they think of him after his terms as a city councilor there.

  23. If SNN and its fans are the equivalent of Islamists then shouldn’t leftists be desperately trying to understand how Canadian society has failed them and extend unconditional friendship, tolerance and acceptance.
The day Dr.Miller has the cojones to describe Muslim terrorists and their sympathizers in similar terms to his description of SNN fans -“..white, barrel sucking immigrant hater who’s too stupid to..”- is the day I’ll him seriously. As it is, he is just a typical culturally-castrated progressive whose impotent rage is directed at conservative alpha males.

  24. I hope Sun is informed that whom ever that is is comparing them to Islamic Radicals, if that isn’t actionable I don’t know what is. Yea bombing CBC sure ahem. Ashhole.

  25. Blackie@4:29:
Didn’t take long—3:02-4:23—for that milk of human kindness to wear off. RMP—that is harsh! ;~)

  26. Well now, since John Miller The LIBERAL Journalism Doctor is so death on this event, I may have to look into getting tickets.
“You can always tell a good idea by the enemies it makes.” Dilbert.

  27. Its not government money….some how other ones do it on taxpayer dollars…just different words…///

  28. Miller’s not kidding about being a witness for hire, and he isn’t too particular about what he claims on the witness stand, either.
In the 1980s I was involved in a union grievance during which he told a lot of lies on behalf of the employer, a major newspaper. We reporters won anyway.

  29. When I went to the site all I got was a blank page. One would think that a “journalism doctor” would know how to create a web site that was viewable in Firefox. After reading the comments above from people who probably used web browsers that the site could handle, I have no further interest in reading any moonbat rantings.
I do like to verify things but I won’t bother looking into the html and javascript of this site as I’ll let the moonbat try to figure out where he went wrong himself.

  30. God, I love Miller. Of all the wonders that I’ve been exposed to, Steyn’s smackdown has been my absolute favourite. And, as Miller himself stated, it’ll be available for his grandkids to see in the future.

  31. John Miller, Rye High’s clown prince?
Didn’t he go five seconds with Mark “Knockout” Steyn a couple of times for charity?
Rumour has it Mark carried him for four of those seconds so the crowd could see the
punch and keep him from saying the loud start bell sound made him faint.

  32. Aw, c’mon you guys who never post under your real names. Get a sense of humour, will ya? Exaggeration is one of the elements used in satire. Don’t take yourselves so seriously. You’ll have more fun.

  33. I think satire is supposed to be amusing, Dr. Miller (may I call you Dr. Miller?).
“Wow, that sounds like a cattle call for any white, barrel sucking immigrant hater who’s too stupid to find out the regular room rate at the Muskoka Marriott is only $199.”
Yes, the lightheartedness is what shines through.
BTW, re. the anonymous coward thing: If you were still teaching, and you found out that one of your students was a regular commenter at SDA, do you think that information might affect his grades? Feel free not to answer.
