Winter is Alive & Well in America’s Emerald City

Only the most ardent global warming fanatics in America’s Pacific Northwest city of Seattle are still adamant that the world is warming up. The city was pounded with a massive snowstorm that is still wreaking havoc, even as the snow melts. To add insult to injury, the Los Angeles Times decided to refer to Seattle residents as “wimps”. One could say that that’s “the pot calling the kettle black” but in 2012 that might be deemed racist!
Here’s a photo of a car on the side of road, not too far from Microsoft’s Redmond campus:

  1. Philanthropist, the article you referred to started out well but then totally went off the rails. Ms. Oreskes appears to make her living based on man-made Climate Change existing. If it doesn’t then her career comes to a halt. Thus for her, it MUST continue. Sad.

  2. I’m sorry but even as a joke, confusing weather with climate just makes us all look dumb.

  3. Where the hell does someone from Los Angeles get away with having an opinion, any opinion, about anyplace which gets snow once in a while?

  4. The world is gradually warming, and has been since the end of the last ice age 18,000 years ago. Some years it warms more some years it warms less. It’s not caused by human activity.
What’s described here is weather, a seasonal phenomenon that occurs every winter.
Don’t make the mistake of confusing climate and weather.
…and for those who haven’t been paying attention, neither weather or climate is caused by human activity.

  5. A city largely dependent on Boeing can hardly be expected to be much of a centre for CAGW fervor. Unions and Democrats, that’s another issue.
Western Washington and BC all got to enjoy the white stuff.

  6. Good for them. I hope Bellingham got it good too. After all, the City of Bellingham is on the list of those entities boycotting oil from Alberta. Because of, well, global warming….

  7. What a Activist Whore. She makes a comparison between Civil Law (the Tobacco Scam) & AGW Science… that is if it’s 51% (more than likely) the Science is settled and the whores like her can sue!
Science is not a 51% or 91% proposition. You have 100% or you have nothing!
The US Ninth Circuit has to be eliminated, and she and her trash will be on the run!

  8. Seems that the only person with any common sense in the YouTube video was the guy on cross country skis. When places like Seattle and Vancouver, where the population has almost no experience driving in snow, get a large dump of snow, the best policy is to either walk/ski/snowshoe but don’t attempt to drive unless your vehicle is a battered Hummer.
Around 1995 I remember a huge blizzard that hit Vancouver which shut down the city and most of the Fraser Valley. I put on my cross country skis and had a great time skiing on downtown streets to Stanley park which has excellent cross country ski trails, albeit every 20 years or so.
As far as the LA Times article, it’s clear that the author is a member of the CAGW church and no evidence will pursuade her that thermaggedon doesn’t exist. It might be worth writing a letter to the editor to suggest that the article would be more appropriate in the religion section of the paper.

“…and for those who haven’t been paying attention, neither weather or climate is caused by human activity.”
Precisely. Belief in “climate mitigation” is literally a foolish belief we can control weather or climate. Foolish arragance.
Ironically, the Goricals citing of Kilimagero is a very localised exception…from deforestation.
The only examples of anthropogenic climate change are the “urban heat islands” which have been statisticaly exploited to prove 20th Century warming.
It is possible that the Nazi plan of daming of Bering Strait or Gibraltar could affect things…..
It was speculated at one point, the Suez would change circulation but it didn’t happen.

  10. Heh. Brown snow. Just one more reason I’m glad I moved to Florida.
Of course, those of you up North are probably glad I moved here as well…

  11. quite the opposite , global warming caused humans. with an iceage earth we wouldnt have made it out of Africa.

  12. You ignorant denier. Don’t you know that heavy snowfall is EVIDENCE of global warming? You can’t have snow someplace without it being WARMER somewhere else.

  13. And they still don’t get why 4×4 and good winter tires are still big sellers.
There was definetly some sort of genetic mutation that has occured in recent history. These people simply could not have evolved via natural selection.

  14. For those that keep wagging their fingers, chanting “weather is not climate”, yeah, we know that. We’ve known it for years. We are simply mocking the AGW alarmists, who typically seize upon every extreme weather event to peddle their hooey.
Some folks here need to send their sarcasm detectors back to the shop.

  15. To bad Gore isn’t cruising on the SS SDA.
We could leave him on the ice shelf and as we sail away yell from the deck where to stick his thermometer.
I wonder how the whole save-planet-earth cruising gang are getting to Argentina to catch the ship…a non-farting burro?

Mike, just like my Canajun friends feel free to opine about anything whatever that happens here in the US.
