The “Party of the Future” Can’t Figure Out How to Vote

Our self-proclaimed betters are having a little problem at their convention: Their wireless electronic voting system has crashed.

Perhaps this is a metaphor for the Liberals in general: Up the Creek Without a Paddle!
Update: Jeffrey Simpson is convinced Bob Rae will become the permanent leader of the Liberals.   h/t ‘batb     The National Citizens Coalition isn’t so sure this is a good idea for the country.

Update 2: More hilarious tweets from #LPC12:

  1. Simpler and more efficient just to write each name on a piece
of paper and have someone draw one of them from a hat?

  2. For the record, I’m a HUGE believer in wireless mobile technology and even build software for the devices. But the fact that this is happening to the Liberals was just too tempting to resist commenting on! 🙂

  3. I like this one;
    [ amneetbali Wizard
“@CPAC_TV: Votes to be counted by volunteers via holding up handheld devices. #cdnpoli #LPC12” #LAME #CORNYPOLICE ]
Just gotta be a lot of one-liners for that one!

  4. I, m a bit shamefaced. Didn,t even know till I came here yesterday, the Liberals where even having a convention. Not that I care. This seems par for the course for them. Who can forget Liberal high points pf hilarity like the Dion last Minuit plea vid?

  5. Yup….can’t wait to turn the country over to this crew who can’t figure out how to count 500 votes.

  6. For Bob Rae line up on the left.
Against line up on the right.
One line will go be counted. The others will be removed.
“Bob Rae wins by unanimous consent!”

  7. Rank amateurs and wannabes – right to the core.
Chretien’s comment – “Da member of da turd party” is deliciously karmic.

“Unfortunately, the cameras weren’t there a second ago to capture @M_Ignatieff blowing kisses on escalator to some journos.#cdnpoli #lpc12”
    =======================
    BWHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I loved it what that lady said, I am new to the party and was told the liberal party was inclusive, but 700 in this room just voted to ignore their complaints that they can’t read the screen, or see the screen. Message to the disabled is, liberal party not for you. I notice they do not have any signing interpreters for the hearing impaired.
Not ready for prime time, just ready to figure out how to manipulate the vote.

  10. Don’t be too hard on them, they are a little out of practice after having Power Corp appoint their last leaders…

  11. Wally, that is HILARIOUS!!!
Wouldn’t it also be fitting if the Lieberals switched their format over such that if anyone wanted to speak to the delegation that they first had to yell, “Mic Check”!!!

  12. I heard that it was proposed that the office of Elections Canada could come in and ensure the integrity of the count…however, once that was suggested, however, immediate objections against were filed against their use.
Everyone was well aware of their bias and didn’t want to risk the outcome of the convention by having ‘undesirable’ policies make it into their platform.

  13. OMG, this is hilarious.
It could not happen to a more deserving crew.
It reminds of Stephane Dion’s expertise in videos. Those libs are technological gurus! No wonder they have so many national social programs and national strategies – they’re so smart.
They want a national child care plan, a national home care plan, a national whatever the heck they can think of, and yet, they can’t even create a working voting system for their own convention.

  14. If figuring out how to vote is too hard they could alsways go with ‘Cow Pie Bingo’.
That’s where you divide a corral up into squares and put a picture of a leadership candidates face in each square, add one cow, and when the cow drops a cowpie whatever space it lands on is the winner.
Or in this case, the loser.

  15. Now remember folks these people are your intellectual superiors. If you don’t believe me just ask them. Aster all they wents to univercity and is now edjumacated and all.

  16. This latest debacle only reinforces the fact that Liberal stupidity is running a close second to Liberal dishonesty. One has to wonder why the last election was even as close as it was.
Is it possible that the average Liberal voter is just as stupid as the cretins running the party? Even with the MSM running continuous interference and providing cheerleading from the sidelines, one would have to be a semi-complete idiot to vote for a Liberal. Of course a complete idiot votes NDP.

  17. I thought I could watch a bit of the convention on CPAC. They changed their channel. It used to be on ch.93,but they’re showing something called ” March of the Dinosaurs”. Hmmm.

  18. Soccermom;
Andrew Coyne does not need to be drafted to the Liberal Party. He declared himself at the last Federal Election. He’s a die hard Liberal and he has a brain. Certainly a rare find. But he is far more helpful to the Liberal’s as a so called “neutral” talking head on the CBC and now at the National Post. No bias there.

  19. and now,on the official Convention titter feed, the BIG big news is?? Justin shaved his moustache off.

  20. ‘titter’ maybe that’s right. Sheila mentioned something about breastfeeding her daughter 25 years ago in her closing speech.

  21. What does voting matter? Their last 2 omnipotencies, Ignatieff and Rae weren’t elected. Mind you they probably want to vote on something important like the lunch menu.

  22. Best line of commentary re the convention, and the old guard (Copps) trying to pretend they are the ‘new guard’..”Copps,who ran for MP back when Madonna WAS a virgin”
From twitter I learned that poor Andrew Coyne had his coat stolen while there…hmm, old habits die hard in that Lib camp!

  23. What wallyj said. “Hands up and wiggle those fingers for Bob.”
    That is funny.
Hands down and wiggle those fingers for Sheila.

  24. The other comment I liked was “prez Samuel Lavoie says Libs will be less private club, more a movement.” Same old Libs. They have heard “movements” are popular today so they have to incorporate that into their platform. They don’t seem to realize most “movements” today are AstroTurf. You cannot create a movement. Real movements happen on their own.

  25. Okay, call me a prophet — or don’t!
I’ve been saying for years that Bob Rae was lurking stage left to usurp the LPC centre stage from Michael Ignatieff. Rae’s takeover had to be surreptitious because, after all, the two of them were U. of T. alumni and good friends, but the takeover was going to happen, nonetheless.
‘Looks like I was right …
    Good luck with that, Librano$.

  26. More hilarity from a Lib delegate from PEI (on Paul Wells twitter feed): “the keys to 24 Sussex are found in the dirt of rural Canada!”..ya just can’t make this stuff up.
Scott Reid tweets re the Copps ‘sex-life’ comment:”for the love of Christ!”..then followed with tweet after the voting glitch: ‘Maybe it heard about Copps sex-scrum and disabled itself!’

  27. Kady tweeted, ” It’s like a luggage carousel at the end of the universe, only with no luggage or carousel”
I think she was talking about the 3 hour vote delay, but maube she was talking about the whole thing. Good line anyways.
They are about to vote,ch.123 in Calgary.

  28. Faint praise from John Ivison, a usual Liberal fan (just what the LPC needs!):
“It’s not clear to me how morphing into an Occupy-style loose association is going to help make Liberal problems go away. But one supposes the Grits have to do something and this is, undeniably, something.”
    I guess.

  29. I ever I thought of supporting the LPC their performance at this convention would very very quickly set my mind in the Right direction. Run Canada these folks couldn’t run a one man race to the outhouse.

  30. Bob Rae is renewal?
Isn’t that a bit like using the other side of used toilet paper? That kind of renewal?

  31. Anyone that pays the least bit of attention to Hedy Fry needs their head examined.
She is pathetic, but in that regard, representative of her riding.

  32. Jeffrey Simpson is touting Bob Rae as the new Lib leader.
Jeffey Simpson continues to be misguided as ever.
Once gain I will bring Barbara Amiel into the murky Liberal picture.
Barbara Joan Estelle Amiel, Baroness Black of Crossharbour (born December 4, 1940) is a British-Canadian journalist, writer, and socialite. She is also the wife of former media baron and convicted felon Conrad Black.
Bob Rae was the ND Premier of Ontario and Barbara Amile was a regular OP-Ed contibutor in the Toronto SUN, at which time in a piece, she labeled Bob Rae a “krypto-communist.”
Whether “Krypto-communist”, “silk-stocking socialist, New Democrat OR LIBERAL……
BOB RAE tilts only to the left…. now …..and forever!
