    She sat and watched the personal live streaming video during the killing of Sodom bin Lying,

    The left and many on the right are feigning outrage, but really, our side has not yet beheaded anyone, nor stoned any women to death for flashing too much ankle. I don’t think we have hung any gays yet either and I don’t believe we send our children into shopping malls to blow up.
    Apparently, all our side did was piss on some dead mortal enemies. Hardly a big freaking deal as I sees it.

  22. I believe it is about respect even for your enemies. Allied soldiers had great respect for the Luftwaffe and the German army under generals like Rommel as they were warriors. They had none for true psychopaths like the SS or the Gestapo and shot them.
    These taliban are not warriors worthy of respect for the despicable things they do and have done to their own people, butchering women and children especially if they dare to attend school or UN workers bringing sight to the blind.
    Once the allies all leave they will quickly turn Afghanistan back into the hellhole of 11 years ago where women in burquas are shot in former soccer stadiums.
    The comments on the Globe article are little different from comments written on anything the US is involved in. Hateful, venomous, belittling yet cowards as they sit safely here protected by the US and Canadian military.
    Always am incredulous when these posters go on about how the US caused the death of millions of Iraqis. The US didn’t kill these people, their fellow muslims did and are still doing it.

  26. I can’t imagine myself pissing on anyone, even the despicable, cowardly Taliban thugs. However, I have never been in combat either where someone is trying to kill me. Therefore I am in no position to pass judgment on these marines. To those that display faux outrage, if you have never been in a life and death combat situation, then please stfu. If and when you ever experience what these soldiers are enduring in a foreign hell-hole, then feel free to offer your opinion.

  27. They call this an “atrocity” and “brutality.”
    Enemy propaganda has no sense of proportion.
    At worst these guys deserve nonjudicial punishment. A court martial will be a federal conviction that will dog them the rest if their lives.
    The only reason the Navy is prosecuting this is because it made the Corps look bad. They don’t really care about the incident. If the video hadn’t gone public, there wouldn’t have been a court martial.

  33. Maybe it was a long firefight and they had to go real bad. All kidding aside, they should have known better and should be hauled up for stupidity.
    In a way it reminds me of the Somalia “kill smelly nig-nogs” video. Mistreatement of prisoners ultimately brought down the airborne, though there’s a difference between pissing on the enemy and torturing prisoners to death; however, feigned outrage knows no bounds.
    The Marines will probably step on them hard, given the exposure and stain on the corps name. People are naive though; what do they think goes on? I saw an RCR on leave from Afghan and his t-shirt had “Taliban Hunting Club” on it.

    War should always be the last option only if everything else fails, but then it should be the final one. However once committed to war then do it fully and with deadly intention. Nuke the cities and eliminate the bulk of the population as quickly as possible before sending in any troops. Burn the fields, kill the livestock and poison the water. Bomb schools and hospitals, kill women and children first – to eliminate the possibility of the war extending beyond one generation. Kill them fast, efficiently and then it’s upon them to surrender prior to becoming exterminated as a people. Kill everyone and break everything until they surrender unconditionally. After one war, nobody should ever want to allow that possibility again.
    If you want nice politically correct competition, go to the Olympics.

    Why are western soldiers there and what are they saving the Iraqis and Afghanis from if they’re not behaving better than the home grown oppressors?
    On a related note, there was a time in the Navy when anyone bringing a camera into the main cave when the ship was at a foreign port had the camera confiscated and returned later in little pieces.

  41. Why didn’t the US just bomb the crap out of Afghanistan and let the Taliban know that whenever they wanted peace, all they had to do was agree to US terms.
    The BS of deciding who are good Afghanis and who are bad Afghanis is stupid. They are all bad and all guilty for 9-11 and should all pay the price until they impress us that they are suitably cowered. It’s simply amazing how firebombing and nuclear bombing civilized the Germans and Japanese.

  42. The US could have easily ended the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, etc. within months. They didn’t because it was never about winning quickly. It was always about prolonging the conflict for profiteering by the MIC oligarchy that’s actually been running the country since WW2.

    Ending a war with a nuclear strike is not something most folks think is a good idea. That is what happened in 1945. As for the rest of your examples-
    Korea: China intervened, strategic nuclear bombing runs were discussed and dismissed as the fall out on UN and American troops may have been deadly to them. Cooler heads prevailed.
    Vietnam: A lengthy and difficult conflict. The Americans got involved quite late. The Vietcon had been fighting a war since the mid 1950’s. Eventually it was lack of political will to fight a war that forced the Americans to pull out in 1974. The Chinese played a role here too.
    Iraq: In the first Iraq War the Americans won quickly. They did also in the second but did not win the peace. I suspect that we will witness a nasty civil war in Iraq.
    Afghanistan: Same as above. The strategic objectives were achieved very quickly but politics turned the aftermath into an exercise of democracy building. My guess is the same as above.
    Somalia was not a war but an intervention that collapsed because of political will. It still festers.
    You did not mention Serbia, Libya, Grenada or Panama. The pattern I see is that the Americans do not win wars is because of what is going on back home. It is certainly not because mysterious MIC chaps are trying to feather their beds. If they truly ruled the U.S., it would be a dark place.
    The truth is that America fights wars with a conscience. As such they do not always win them in the manner that you aspire them to. This is precisely why they dominate the world. Sensible people trust them. The same can be said for the Royal Navy in the Nineteenth Century (see Albert Hermann book).
    Lastly, Dear North 60 winning wars quickly is not always the best option for humanity. If America used its abilities, most of south east Asia, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. would be a parking lot. Is that what you want? I don’t. I grew up with a bomb shelter in my back garden.
    Winning wars quickly requires killing lots of people fast and in nasty ways. Is that something you are prepared to do?
