Sorry Loki. You LIE. Coke and fruitfly guy both say so!! In fact,Coke proudly has both pengies AND poleys drinking their battery acid in the same spot.

Justthinkin, I guess I’ve been boycotting Coke too long to have noticed that. Anyway, Coke is not in the battery acid category but it can replace stomach acid and is recommended to be used when certain drugs that require a low gastric pH to be absorbed are administered to people without stomach acid (anyone on a proton pump inhibitor).
I’ve been looking for an alternative to Coke for this medical application.

Maybe they did once long long ago but between the polar bears and the orcas it wasn’t safe on the land or in the water so they migrated south to a safer neighbourhood during one of the ice ages.

ES – yes, it is in the area of compass unreliability but the compass, although swinging through up to 40 degrees each way, still averages ‘North’. Approaching close to the pole itself, the ‘dip angle’ renders most compasses inoperable. Been there, seen it and watched the swing as we crossed it. Actual navigation is done by gyros, generally using True North (ie, towards the geographic pole) as a reference although we used to use a system called ‘equatorial grid’ where we aligned a false equator with the track and fooled the navigation system into believing we were in the tropics. Still relied on the gyros though…
