With no other pressing matters on his plate, U.S. President Barack Obama pardoned a 72 year old jewel thief yesterday.At the time of this writing, there was no comment from Svend Robinson.
Correction: As tirador pointed out, Svend Robinson was indeed born in Minnesota. My apologies! This fact rather wrecks my joke. Perhaps the title should have been: “Is Svend Next in Line for King Obama to Pardon?”

I wonder, because of this crime, if he is even able to enter the States. All I can say, in his case justice has NOT have been served.

Yep, nothing like getting a Thanksgiving pardon decades after you already served your hard time and paid your debt to society. Obama’s pardon is sorta like cutting off the turkey’s head first, then saying to the decapitated turkey: “I pardon thee”.
Svend can count his lucky stars that he lives in Canada, because he not only got off the hook for serving time but our wimpy justice system makes the rest of us law-abiding citizens look like chickens running around with their heads cut off.

He is busy buying electoral support from his fellow travelers and mindless progressives while making sure no actions to prevent fiscal disaster are undertaken by any of the three branches of the federal government.
The Republicans are mostly too stupid, naive or complicit to just go home and, rather than relying on a hostile media, speak directly to their constituents exposing the engineered game (virtual media blackout of the numerous corrective bills passed in the House never to be brought to the floor in the Senate). Recent poling blames the Republicans more than Democrats for the failure of the “super committee”. Why did Boehner push for it while Bachmann and a few others knew it was a f…… disaster waiting for them. Obama was prepared to veto any recommendation that didn’t decrease the deficit primarily through tax increases. Republicans stupid enough to get sucked into any bipartisan actions with this Senate and Administration will end up looking like cattle being led to slaughter.

No pardon needed for Svend. He stole and was caught on video surveillance, and if he were just a regular joe he’d have been convicted & jailed, but he is a gay liberal activist. So he holds a tearful news conference, blames his crime on mental trauma from a biking accident he had SEVEN YEARS previously, and a liberal judge notes his record of noble & tireless gay activism and lets him go with a wrist slap.
One law for Svend, another law for all the rest of us.

If that’s the case, your joke’s not ruined. Svend must have become a Canadian citizen at some point, in order to be able to run for a seat in the HOC.
Where the heck is he now? You never hear from or of him, which IMO, is a wonderful thing. What an utter disgrace the guy is. And, he got off easy. If I’d stolen a ring as valuable as the one he did (to bestow upon his ss “fiance”), I’d be in jail, no doubt about it.

Well,here in the Okanagan, walnuts grow very well,to a large size.
Strangely, much of B.C.’s fruit population thrives not in the sunny climes of the Okanagan,but in the West End of Vancouver.
I know this because years ago I worked on Svend Robinson’s leaking condo in that area,even said “hello” to Svend on occasion.
Never suspected he was a jewel thief.

I do not recall if Svend was convicted. If he was, it is a charge for which there are sentences that can exceed 2 years. Thus, we could strip him of his citizenship and send him packing. Now, to lure Libby Davies into a trap where she commits a crime with Sid Ryan as her partner…..
