  1. Yup, our big rotty cross, who had first stage cancer, was put down from this. Came on in no time at all. Be aware people, this is very painful to our best friends!

  4. I tried to rescue our neighbor’s Akita with a .303 at 3:00 AM but missed. Thank goodness another neighbor got him. I paid more to have a dog unplugged than for repairing a couple cases of Akita handiwork. Everybody has an opinion on bloat but as the article says no-one knows what causes it.

    NOWSHERA: A mosque cleric was shot dead by militants in Nowshera District, after resisting their attempts to preach terrorism in his mosque Police said.
    Obaidullah Ustad, imam of the Shaidu village mosque in Nowshera had earlier stopped militants from preaching “terrorist values” at the mosque. “It was because of this resistance that the militants returned later in the evening and shot him inside the mosque” District Police Officer (DPO)Muhammad Hussein said while speaking to The Express Tribune.
    Obaidullah was severely injured and rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries hospital authorities said. Sources said that the militants wanted to have access to the mosque and use it as a base to find new recruits. The militants reportedly belonged to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
    Nowshera and its surrounding area have been the hub of militant activities in the recent past. On October 28, a suicide bomber claimed the life of two police officers as he attempted to target Ajmir Shah, the SHO who had started a massive operation against militants in the area.

    It would probably be more appropriate for them to sue their own parents for not helping them maintain their first language and culture during the 85+% of the year that day students spend with their own family. But then, isn’t the federal government just a big cash cow for the entitled?

    No one in Canada has prohibited Native Canadians from teaching their children their culture in their own communities and homes — and BTW, over 80% of the chiefs, at the time the residential schools were established, asked the government to educate their children, so they could participate in the broader life of North America.
    The height of irony is that it’s articulate Native Canadians who are now lawyers and other participants in the chattering classes — many of whom were educated in residential schools — who are kicking up such a stink. Was there nothing good about the schools?
    There’s plenty of money to be made by crying “foul.” But, it’s a fool’s game. Where does it end? Why don’t Native Canadians now sue the British and French governments for allowing exploration of the New World?
    I suspect that if Native Canadians (who hadn’t discovered the wheel) had had the technology to sail the ocean waves, they’d have made conquests of other countries — and I’m wondering if they would have been as generous to the inhabitants of those countries as the French and English were to them. Would they have left these inhabitants alive or wiped them out, as they often did in conflicts with rival tribes? I’m pretty clear they wouldn’t be paying “sorry” money to any groups whose land they took.

  20. Another name for residential school is “boarding school”, which is the way the elites in most societies choose to educate their children. I am sure that there was no more abuse of students at the residential schools than there was at any boarding school in Canada. I am sure there was some, but we do not have thousands of adults from any other segment of society claiming to be survivors the the bosrding schools they went to. The ones who choose to live in remote places in their stone age culture claim that they have no jobs. Isn’t just surviving a stone age hunter gatherer existance job enough? Those that didn’t choose the stoneage life style complain that they were damaged by residential schools. I suspect that those who went to those schools got the opportunity for a substantially better education than you avergae public school kid.

  24. yes, thanks for posting this. It is somewhat different than expected. I thought one night my German Shepherd was bloating. Emergency trip later, she was okay, spent the night at the vet’s, and the best $180 ever spent there–passed 5 litres of diarrhea NOT at home. All clean and sweet when picked up.
