One very critical word has been omitted from the headline: “Unelected”.
An apparatchik appointing apparatchiks. The downhill slide continues.
And if Obama loses in a squeaker to the GOP, will he accept defeat, will it be like the circus of Gore’s loss or will there be a sudden “emergency” that the country has never seen before?
There’s a commie’s wet dream right there – no division of press and state.
Democracy in Europe is in rapid decline. And Canada has its Naomo Kline.
“He ponders the pros and cons…. He has calm blood.”
That sounds vaugely familiar…hmmmmm…
I saw a wall street trader in a clip not long ago. He said the up coming crash is something he dreams about. He said that is when big money can be made.
But the most stunning thing he said was “Goldman Sachs runs the world”.
I believe him.
Economist as PM. Che Guevera was the worst finance minister in the history of mankind. When Castro asked if anyone was an economist, Guevera thought he said communist.
Hunour me, I’m confused: what is it that is wrong with this new guy?
He’s an economist, just like our PM. Good. He’s not a detached billionaire sex pervert like his predecessor Berlusconi. Good. He is tasked with making tough austerity measures happen, even if it’s unpopular in the short term. Good.
Seriously, what am I missing here?
Humour me, I’m confused: what is it that is wrong with this new guy?
I don’t see much criticism. I’m sure he will do well.
Actually, what seems to have been missed is that the “media takeover” I was suggesting was imagined to be by the magazine, the Economist.

OK…I don’t feel too bad for not getting that one. Especially on a Monday. 🙂
Frankly a bunch of “non-politician’s” would be nice; although liars, cheats and thieves encompass every sector of society.
Hope he proves to be a good choice, and hopefully the citizens will be able to pull up their boot straps.
Looking for MR. Fix it all. To think one man can make any difference in a culture of grab & take, is folly trebled.
The whole system needs reconstruction if not a moral shift in the Nation. Trying to find a savior in one dude,, is almost psychotic.
This Monti was head of the EU competition bureau when it went after Microsoft over precious little, and prevented a merger between General Electric and Honeywell (aren’t they both American companies?). In other words, a non-productive statist bureaucrat. Armies of whom are the main reason for the world’s economic difficulties.
Following the example that General Musharraf governed Pakistan better than any of the “democratically” elected leaders, it doesn’t necessarily mean Italy is headed into the toilet. However, it doesn’t mean that pre-empting democracy is a good thing either.
Well, people were very impressed with a leader who drained the Pontine Marshes and made the trains run on time … for a while.
Europe in a nutshell..

Some years ago a small rural town in Spain twinned with a similar town in Greece.
The Mayor of the Greek town visited the Spanish town.
When he saw the palatial mansion belonging to the Spanish mayor he wondered how he could afford such a house.
The Spaniard said; “You see that bridge over there? The EU gave us a grant to build a two-lane bridge, but by
building a single lane bridge with traffic lights at either end this house could be built”.
The following year the Spaniard visited the Greek town.
He was simply amazed at the Greek Mayor’s house, gold taps, marble floors, it was marvellous.
When he asked how this could be afforded the Greek said;
“You see that bridge over there?” The Spaniard replied; “No…..”
