Call me old fashioned, but I had long thought that the “Male” & “Female” options on the “Sex” question of endless multiple-choice forms kind of nailed down all the possibilities. Apparently thinking in such a “limited” fashion makes me a “sex thug” and thus a close-minded bigot.

I first ran into the concept of ‘gender’ when studying Latin in high school. At that time there were three genders; masculine, feminine and neuter. When did it come to represent what is between one’s legs and how it is used? Is this another aberration invented by the Studies departments at our universities.
When channel surfing this morning, my husband came across Mr. Roger’s Neighbourhood, a program I abhorred until I watched my then-four-year-old watching him. Mr. Rogers is real time, no-hype, as opposed to so many other kids’ programs which are fast forward and hype, hype, hype tout le temps.
I was reminded, in a song he sang today to his “television neighbours” about the body, why I like him so much (may he rest in peace):

Simply put the gay and transgender activists wanna use our educational system to normalize gender identity disorder, it’s akin to teaching those with an eating disorder how to shove a spoon down their throat so they can vomit safely. I do not believe for one single minute children suffer from identity disorders, and if perchance they do it’s between them and their parents and their mental health expert.

Nice try, but no. Public schooling is one of the major pillars of Western Civilization. Universal literacy and numeracy is what separates up from the barbarians.
Ending the Teacher’s union and firing the entire cohort of administrators for Ontario schools, that I can get behind. Cutting the school budget by about two thirds, I could cheer for that as well.
In case any teachers think me harsh, please recall that the current controlling faction of the public school system is threatening to end universal literacy and numeracy, and replace it with self esteem enhancement and sex ed.

Rizwan is right. We didn’t have this nonsense when I was a kid. Nor did we have a Federal Department of Education. We had local schools with local controls, answerable to the taxpayers.
Public schools exist to create compliant citizens and funnel taxes to the teachers’ unions and the Democrats. Education is incidental to the mission.
The way this issue has been handled by activists is heavy handed however I believe an open discussion by all society on the facts of transsexualism is long overdue. It’s time to bring this taboo subject out of the closet. I say that because I’ve struggled with gender issues from the time I was a young child and it’s refreshing to finally see some discussion on the subject. Medical science has recently discovered that transsexualism is simply a birth defect caused by either an insufficient or over abundance of male/female hormones (estrogen, testosterone) during the gestation period. The result is a baby born with a brain not in accordance with the physical body. In my case from my earliest memory I had the feeling I should be a girl and as I grew older that I should be a woman. The feelings never left me but I was able to cope by going a hyper masculine route. I worked hard to become a typical macho male which I’ve learned many older transsexuals did. I married, helped raise a family and on the outside was a normal man except I felt like a woman inside. I lived in denial of who I truly was for over 60 years and then one day my life fell apart. The feelings I had been able to control suddenly became uncontrollable. The anguish and torment this caused me was intolerable so I sought medical help and was dumbfounded when I was told I was one of “those” unspeakable people. You see I was as paranoid and brainwashed as the general public on the condition of transsexualism. I now understand why so many transsexuals have croaked themselves. The condition is not contagious and has very little to do with sexual choice. The treatment is to bring the body into alignement with the brain and it’s claimed to be close to 99% effective. This is done with hormones in some cases and through surgery in other cases. These unfortunate people are certainly not sexual deviants as the general public has come to believe. Time to correct this fallacy.
dastardly, I can understand your relief that transsexualism is now being discussed. To discuss it in school classrooms, however, and expect young children to grasp issues that are beyond their comprehension is irresponsible and borders on abusive.
If parents want their children to know about gender issues, they can take it upon themselves to educate them. However, for the school system to take this role upon itself, especially when not allowing parents to exempt their children from such topics, is tantamount to propagandizing indoctrination.
The schools have been handed over to the sex industry with their Kiddie Po5n NAMBLA followers. This group is an old one. Who until now where rightly held at bay by sane laws to protect children. Now the hounds of child sexual abuse are loosed. Most of these folks doing this are professionals like Judges, Academics, lawyers, with others who have laid low for years. Now they want society to sanction their lust to prey on innocents. Indeed they want pity.
They want to seduce your children without restraint. Already these perverts get low sentences. Now they want free rein to recruit even toddlers into black their dens of lust.

I agree this subject should NOT be discussed with young children in the classroom but it should be part of sex education for teenagers because like it or not transsexualism does exist and it has absolutely nothing to do with the gay life style. As a matter of fact most homosexuals are in the same camp as so called normal society when it comes to transsexualism. They simply don’t understand the condition either. Transsexuals certainly do not lust to prey on innocents. I’ve been told most have a very low sex drive which is my case. As I said it’s a birth defect which is correctable but because it entails altering sex organs it somehow is conceived by society as being perverted. Once the condition is cured through medical intervention these people simply go on to live their lives as normal as possible albeit in a different gender. Just reading some of these comments indicates to me there is a definite need to educate the public about this condition. The question I ask is why should it matter to anyone else what some other poor unfortunate soul must do to his own body to finally find peace of mind.

It’s absolutely of no matter to anyone unless the trans*exual brings the issue up in the classroom or a public forum, which the LGBT lobby seems to want to do. I think you have an issue with them.
Pierre Trudeau said the government should have no place in the bedrooms of the nation. Our problem now, is that LGBT activists, who are very active, want to make the nation one big bedroom, beginning in our children’s classrooms. Nothing’s off the table, so to speak, and their attitude is, “the earlier the better.”
Parents are the first and primary educators of their children, especially when it comes to social values and norms. They entrust their children to the educational system to be taught reading, writing, and arithmetic, not how to have “safer se*” or to pick through the finer details of the LGBT lifestyle at the age of five.
If your concern is only your own health and well-being, dastardly, that is and should be between only you and your doctor. No one here has said otherwise. If, however, you publicize your plight, expect it to be presented to school children, and go ballistic if anyone has problems with the very public nature of your cause, then that is a matter of public concern — and, quite possibly, public censure, especially where legal minors are involved.
