People have alleged that Rick Perry and others like him are anti-science. That’s horrible. Science is extremely important. It’s given us microwaves, dinosaurs and the “Mr. Wizard Show.” And medicines. Except for the homeopathic ones.
It’s critical that we all accept science’s conclusions. For instance, if we don’t agree on the age of the Earth, how will we know what to do when the Earth tries to buy liquor? And without knowledge of evolution, when a species goes extinct, how do we know who to notify as its next of kin?
But despite the obvious importance of science, one group of people does everything in pure defiance of scientific methods: politicians.

There already is a control group, its called Texas. And the experimental group where all kinds of interference is tried is called California.
Working out as well.
for years Ive been harping on the need for some ‘devil’s advocate’ involvement with any legislation.
on deaf ears of course, because, after all, ahve you EVER heard a politishun admit they made a mistake?
anyway, I just do it myself now, like the time a local ordinace was proposed to stiff landlords with delinquent utility bills. I sarcastically sent an inquiry to city hall wondering if they always solved a problem by creating 10,00 more, and that’s exactly what would happen once deadbeat tenants got wind of the FACT they could get away with the last 3 months bills since that’s how long it would take to get the hydro cut off. I also pointed out in the era of the Privacy Act it was impossible to monitor the balance for said tenants’ utility bills.
and I also pointed out landlords like myself would have to increase rents across the board to cover future inevitable losses, thus making RESPONSIBLE tenants cover for the deadbeat; more ‘punish the victim’. it just never ends does it?
they backed down.
Well, there’s Rick Perry and there’s David Suzuki, take your pick, but remember, you pays your penny you takes your choice, but you gotta live with it too!
I’ll pick Rick Perry. No contest.
Is that the Frank J of IMAO.us? If so, good for him. If he’d been a leftist he’d have been a household name by now. His satirical “In My World” pieces about George Bush and his staff were delightful, hold up today, and could be enjoyed by those on either side, even though Frank is a total conservative. I guess the NY Post in 2011 isn’t quite as impressive as the NYT in 2006, but oh well.
Yup, it’s Frank J of IMAO.
