  1. “How did mankind survive for 200,000 years without the UN World Food Programme, food stamps or WIC?”
With a massive infant mortality rate, and an average lifespan of 40 years or less. Mostly we did it by breeding like rabbits and hoping at least a few of our kids would survive long enough to have kids of their own. You know, kinda like how they do it in third-world nations, today.

  2. “Ever try looking for work without a telephone?”
Yeah. Its called “walking”. If you put on a clean shirt and go around with a clipboard knocking on doors, you can get a job painting some lady’s back bedroom in a couple hours.
Of course she’d have to be insane to hire you, probably don’t know which end of the paintbrush to hold. Poverty is the reward we give to the willfully stoopid.

  3. Blanks tells us to give our heads a shake. I’d tell him the same, but I don’t want to be responsible for the consequences.

  4. Blanks – You are wrong, on both programs I mentioned. Each one is completely free to the recipients. What significant HUD programs are loan-based?

  5. “I have never met a man (or woman) who was unable to find some sort of employment if they ‘truly’ wanted to work.”
I guess you haven’t experienced the bitter pill of having lefties decree that because you aren’t a member of some sainted minority, you don’t deserve an opportunity. Welcome to NDP run BC in the ’90s…

  6. It was capitalism that allowed life expectancies to rise. It sure as hell wasn’t the UN or food stamps.
