  2. In the 1000 channel universe the cbc becomes increasingly irrelevant. They have pockets of influence in Canada but for the most part few news watchers turn to the cbc.
    Those who want to watch or listen to the cbc should be the ones that support it. It should be a subscription service just like a newspaper or magazine.
    A modern first world country like Canada has no need for a state owned broadcaster. There are plenty of news outlets.

  3. CBC is and has been since its taxpayer forced inception many decades ago, a Canadian left oriented idea and gatekeeping spout.
    Always was, always will be, hopefully the current government forces the CBC to compete in the open MSM market place.
    Also the taxpayer funded tax sucking National Film Board is another communist infested rabbit hole which should be deep sixed.

There is no need for hospitals and schools, roads and other essentials going without funding while we pour money int this PIG of an organization of misfits and malcontent closet commies. CBC adds nothing to the fabric of Canada, Canada is great because of 96% of us detest the CBC and their social engineering attempts. The normal Canadian family is what holds Canada together, that statement is like garlic to a vampire within the CBC walls.

    ‘vote subsidys for losers’
    Not to pick nits, but Harper wants to eliminate vote subsidy for all, not merely the losers. As the biggest winner the CPC will lose the most subsidies. Harper is being fair. Unlike the red gentlemen who make one set of rules for themselves and another for the proletariat.

    All things being equal….although the CPC gets the most because they hold the most seats….the subsidy is a minor contributor to their coffers due to their grass-roots supporters.
    Ending the subsidy in effect will defund the BLOC, and the Greens….and cripple the NDP.
    Part of this is that the supporters of the Bloc and Greens are either indigent or just plain nigggardly. They are takers not givers.

  10. Why doesn’t the government list a number of spending options, the CBC being one of them, and then have a poll to see which one has public favor. The money going into the CBC could build a couple of regional hospitals a year.

  13. I have not watched CBC for many years, as I found it injurious to my health. Got to watch the blood pressure when you get a little older. Going for walks more often and watching less CBC is a winner.

  15. Well, I made my monthly call to Telus TV last week asking when Sun News is going to join their lineup (as the guy that signed me up said was imminent several months ago). The first responder claimed to not know what they were. The second one tried to pull a “not the values of enough of our viewers” and I blew a gasket. The reason I had called that day was that they were proudly announcing on their website that Al Gazeera news network was available. Since this was the chink in the wall that let Fox News Network into Canada, I was hoping that it would mean Sun becomes available to Telus (and other Bell services). Alas, not yet. A short diatribe about anti-semitism and the silencing of political opponents NOT being Canadian values followed and, after some on-phone grovelling from the former erstwhile elitist, my name was renewed on the list of those who want the channel offered. Any other Telus TV subscribers make the call yet this month?

  16. It isn’t on the website but CBC TV had the story of the kidnapping of a young woman in BC and named the suspect and had a picture of him.
    They mumbled something about his already being wanted by the RCMP….
    Regarding the suspected war criminals, if the CBC refuses to show pictures of them or name their names, how about police artist sketches?
    Or stick man drawings?
    Can they give us any info on them?
    Gender?
    Species?
    Plant, animal, or mineral?
    We wouldn’t want to offend anyone.

  19. I am actually really upset that the cbc will play an hour long documentary on nazim kadri the toronot maple leaf’s great muslim hope of getting them to a cup (if he doesn’t behead someone first)
    This was on 16:9 on the cbc , or the passionate eye it went to great detail to show islam and muslims in canada as peaceful law abiding citizens , i was so mad that they made his faith the focus how he was some kind of inspiration to all muslim kids , so on and so forth ….witch madem e think..
    How many show’s have been done on the many many many wonderful contributions made by the christian players in the nhl , and how many show’s have delved deep into there faith as a motivation for there success both on and off the ice , there are so many charities and funds set up in the name of good god fearing christian nhl hockey players but will the CBC recognize any of these guy’s and focus one hour of t.v. time to there faith? NOPE!!! IT WILL focus on how graham james raped the sh!t out of theo fluery and a few others though.

    Robyn regher, his brother ritchie both born again christians , jerome iginla , roberto luongo, shane doan , cory sarich , alex tanguay , these are god fearing christian men who have made big statment’s in the game based on there gift’s given to them by god , it’s not liek these guy’s are nobodies they are very good at what they do , both on and off the ice they give time and money to help those in need , do they get any recomndation or comendation for there good work’s ?

    I would not totally disagree with that. However, in the last 10 years, the CBC has cost me $300.00 plus change, while my cost of keeping freeloading, rural conservative welfare bum farmers in the style to which they feel entitled to in that time frame is in excess of $5000.00. Guess which one has priority for me? So, let those who want to support freeloaders dig deep. Otherwise, take your teabaggin’ hypocrisy and shove it, baby, shove it.

  23. Out here in Left Overshoe Saskatchewan, our pitiful cable company offers CBC Newworld and CTV News Channel. I hate to tell you this, but I prefer CBC over that useless CTV for news. I agree with Colin – clean up aisle seven.

I once thought that we should get rid of CBC TV but keep the CBC Radio part for those with poor reception etc., (I’m a Luddite) Today I listened to one of the CBC FM stations and all they talked about was how gay oldsters will be made to live in care homes set up for heterosexuals, and how it struck fear into their hearts. Next there was a program about how natives do up their hair and about their rapid growth in Manitoba and the rest of Canada and why they make up such a large percentage of the prison population. I guess if you are a gay Indian, then the CBC’s for you!

    I have long maintained that this is the route to take to remove the CBC pig from the trough. Take the one billion plus dollar subsidy and devote every penny saved to health care. No one in his/her right mind would take issue with that approach. Even the tiny minority that considers the CBC somewhat useful wouldn’t dare to speak out against more funding for health care.
    Oh … and please try to just ignore phil. He has issues that he will have to work out on his own.

  29. The CBC is making the same mistake that CNN made back in ~2001.. They wanted to be the political correct International Broadcaster… The problem is that a PC international POV suppresses the TRUTH as know & expected by the average Citizen (American)
    The CBC coverage does not represent the truth that Canadian Culture expects. They may sound fair to a small minority, but to the majority they are untruthful.. If you want to be a Mushroom, keep in the dark & fed BS, get your opinion from the CBC.. The Coverage of US issues is in some cases (IMO) the result of simple ignorance. I.E. to table a bill in the Senate does not mean it was voted down… the 30 hr delay is normal procedure
    The foreign News sources (CBC News Bureau) don’t like/can’t deal with the whole truth…
