Why the heck is a capital ‘S’ Socialist in charge of the IMF anyway? Who thought that was a good idea?
Does this position rotate through countries? I nominate Jack Layton for Canada’s turn! What could possibly go wrong?
I’m glad, and a little surprised, that the New York authorities are considering taking the word of a maid over his. My guess is that the evidence has been piling up. If he’s guilty they’ll be a string of these incidents – dozens of women. There always is.
One day he pushes global currency, the other….
In France he’d be facing charges for room service.
I nominate Jack Layton for Canada’s turn!
Was it the “rutting chimpanzee.” part that got you?
What happened to the whole “hypocrisy is the only real crime in world” concept so popular on the left?
Here’s a guy who’s the Prince of Hypocrisy. He’s a socialist who lives like an aristocrat: $3000 hotel rooms, the right to bump anyone off a flight so he can have a seat for free, and even modern droit de seigneur, the right to rape any woman who comes within reach.
I wish I were a sophisticated European so I could understand why all this is just fine.
He must have misinterpreted Gore’s and Clinton’s well known and penalty free exploits as a free-for-all, anything-goes Platinum Class American Hotel Sexual Adventure Package.
Actually I agree with Black Mamba, previous victims will now feel confident about coming forward. I’m also betting that feminists will be too busy with their Sl*t Walks to condemn a VIP socialist. BTW, wasn’t it the 60’s left that coined the phrase “A woman’s place is underneath”?
Gee, I thought you were talking about Janet Napolitano!
In 1964 radical Stokely Carmichael aka Kwame Ture of the SNCC – Student Nonviolent Coordination Movement – said: “The only position for women in SNCC is prone.”
Not “Movement”, “Committee”.
CNN was treating it with kid gloves too. Just mentioned an ‘alleged assault’. Pretty much to be expected.
Her mommy lost the meal ticket,so let’s find another. And just how does the little slut know what a rutting chimp is?? And what is a French writer?? So many questions,so little answer from the entitled Euro-trash.
Greg:
We can’t send Jack – we already sent them David Miller.
Interesting how the Liberation editor is quoted in the Guardian piece, sniffing how gauche and declasse it all is, this spectre of police arresting a top-level politician on a matter of morals.
Sexual assault is a crime, not a “matter of morals”, you ridiculous French numbskull.
At least Layton paid* for his sexual perversions.
*cash
These are our Protected Betters?
Like Aristocrates of old , they have to be seen with halo’s.
When in truth most ae worse than avrge because they have NO constraint, figuring there better than the rest of humanity just by existing.

Brian Gardiner, re David Miller, you beat me to it!
Tom Paine: “He’s a socialist who lives like an aristocrat …”
Or, as David Mamet puts it, he’s talking left and living right … “a condition common among American liberals[/socialists], particularly the wealthy among them, who can, for instance, want to impose diversity requirements on private companies while living in monochromatic neighborhoods, or vote against school vouchers while sending their kids to prep school, or shelter their income while advocating higher tax rates…”

Dominique Strauss-Kahn
Reuters has a post stating that Strauss-Kahn wasn’t even there at the time of the ‘alleged assault’; that he was actually having dinner with his daughter before taking the flight.
You can google with the key words.
Others are bringing in a dual-edged conspiracy tactic, claiming that, first, it’s a plot to keep Sarkozy in power and second, prevent Strauss-Kahn from becoming president..as the first Jewish president.
However, although my comments are as ignorant and speculative as anyone else’s, I must question why the ‘lunch with the daughter’ wasn’t immediately brought up as the concrete alibi to counter the maid’s accusations. Ah well.
Entitled to his entitlements.
Are we going to hear from the oh-so-sophisticated Euro MSM and politicos that it wasn’t really rape-rape?
I suppose jack layton couldnt have done the perp walk outside that massage parlour. not “neked” with a tissue
ET at 4:14 PM, and of course the lunch was at daughter’s apartment, so there are no witnesses.
Justthinkin – you may well know a lot I don’t, but if you don’t I think that’s terribly unfair. He would have been in his fifties when she was in her early twenties. Is the chambermaid a slut too?
“Why the heck is a capital ‘S’ Socialist in charge of the IMF anyway? Who thought that was a good idea?”
They tried a neoconservative (Paul Wolfowitz) before him, but he ended up getting thrown out for handing out large salary increases to his close female ‘associates’.
Ironic though – having a socialist run an organization that promotes Reagonomics. Some kind of cosmic justice in there – just can’t place it.
I say let France have him back, but only if they send Roman Polanski over to hand-deliver the bail money.
Freg @ 1.11pm: Socialist leadership is anything but socialist.
Some wag in the comments on the second article opined that “raping the poor is practically part of his job description”.
I suppose that living high on the hog while raping the poor is the other part.
But this seems to be par for the course at the UN, NGOs etc.
Louise – one report refers to ‘lunch with his daughter at a restaurant’.
Doesn’t make sense. All Strauss-Kahn needed to do if this alibi is valid was to point out that, at the time the hotel maid made the accusation, he wasn’t there; that he had checked out before her entrance to the suite, and was at a particular (named) restaurant with his daughter. This would have thrown the proof requirement back to the hotel maid. That’s what’s puzzling.
If the lawyers are saying that this is his story, then, why hasn’t it been put forth, now, with the date stamps from the hotel check-out, the date-stamps from the restaurant, from the cabs etc? End of story. But…
@ET:
This is obviously part of a vast right-wing conspiracy to tarnish DSK’s good name and preclude a Socialist victory in next year’s election.
All they had to do was wait until he was out of the suite lunching with his daughter… then bring in a body double to sexually assault the chambermaid… then alter all the surveillance recordings between the hotel and the restaurant… then intimidate/threaten/bribe the limo drivers, hotel and restaurant staff and patrons… then get the police lab technicians to fake the DNA evidence. Piece of cake really. I’m sure the truth will come out soon enough.
But seriously… he’s not been found guilty yet. As much as I would have snickered had he instead taken a swan dive off the penthouse balcony, the guy does deserve due process. The NYPD’s evidence must be bulletproof to throw the IMF chief in Rikers Island without bail. What a circus.. I can’t wait for the trial.
