If you believe that decriminalizing wheat is a bad thing, but that decriminalizing drugs is a good thing – you might be a liberal.*

Nice. Thanks, Kate. Love the tag line too.
I am still not used to having a newscast tell real stories, about real issues, with no left wing bias.
This keeps going we might see some positive change before I get to the end of my “bucket list”.
Got to hurry though. I’m a pretty old geezer!
If you are pro choice in ‘pregnancy options’, but not pro choice in wheat, you might be a lieberal
I’m with Melwilde, it boggles me to see the Canadian Wheat Board being discussed -unfavorably- on TV. Especially without the usual “panel” of three Liberals vs. one farmer.
Do it MORE!!!
I’ve been saying for years on blogs, that if ALL farmers in Canada [particularly Ontario and Quebec] were forced under the CWB, it would be dismantled in a week. It is about time there appears to be progress on this issue.
Note: I feel All farmers that were charged [and imprisoned, I think] because of selling their wheat should have an aquital of charges in the past.

NEXT; Human Rights Commission should be disbanded and appologies made by all the staff for some of the most rediculus decisions they have made – and forced upon innocent Canadians. Fire them all. I hope they would find it very hard for them to get a job for what they have done to destroy our justace system with their rullings. I think every member of the HRC go for councelling on their negative attitude towards common sense.
Ya but Wheat is a precursor food to much more addictive foods like corn dogs and hot cross buns.
That is Liberals think we must keep it as prohibited food.
Fred @ 10:54:
Heh! Wheat is a “gateway crop”! What next? Cheese?
Oh, the humanity!
It’s been said that some prairie farmers would eat sawdust as long as they knew that nobody else could buy a steak.
The Wheat Board must be audited and all ill gotten gains lost to CWB members and employees paid back to the farmers and tax payers who were forced to finance the crooks in the first place. I have read that some wheat farmers in the east buy Wheat Board priced (low) high grade prairie grain to sell and keep their own lower grade wheat to feed their farm animals. There will be squawking when this regional discrimination is stopped. There must be a monetary reason for some producers’ preference for selling to the Commi Wheat Board; western producers should be asking that question before the CWB is dismantled.
Make the wheat board a charter issue. Equality under the law – either everyone is subject to the rules or no one is. Freedom of association – choosing who you want to do business with could be argued as a basic freedom of all people. Of course if the the charter of rights and freedoms were for real many things would fall under this clause. There would also be property rights written in and no “not withstanding” clause.
Oh Please! We are all Liberals.
And I’m truly hoping you are not suggesting that the current policy of following the U.S. war on drugs is in any way sensible.
I’m betting every single one of you are filling in your mandatory census rather than risk the $500.00 fine as the State reaches out and touchs every household in Canada. And if you don’t answer they come and knock at your door.
Wheat boards. Gun control. Census. The subject doesn’t really matter. Imaginary improvements courtesy of my Conservatives. And I bet the future brings more of the same.
Tweedle dum. Tweedle dee.
The preponderance of evidence suggests Canadian mice one and all.
Eeek!
It will be good to see movement on the CWB. Now they will need to retain customers without state coercion. Hoorah!
Now … about the CBC…
I may have filled out the form but I answered the questions the way I felt deserved an answer. We were selected for the long form and my wife wanted to fill it out. Interestingly there is now someone in my house of the Jedi faith and contrary to what my parents believe, I am now black.
Tell them what you want or do not fill it out. On the other hand I was fully willing to not fill it out if it was a mandatory requirement.
Yeah, it always starts out with some wheat, just because all the cool farmers are doing it. Then it moves up when people get bored. Start doing lines of sorghum in the silo. Even see people smoke cracked barley in full public view. Vile. WHY DON”T YOU THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!?!1
If you took time to twitter about the “sleeveless-floozies” on the Sun TV News Network before attending “Slut Walk”… you might be a liberal.
If the woman wears the pants in your family… U R definitely a pu$$…ahem…liberal.
If you’re always telling people to “wear pink” for one cause or another and are offended when someone calls you a “Pinko”… then you’re probably a liberal.
If you hate Homer Simpson… you are probably a liberal.
If you’re a dude and you’re wondering “do I look fat in this?”… you are probably a liberal.
If you call Soccer “Football”, you are definitely a commie liberal.
If you say “it’s not fair” after you lose… U R a liberal
@sol fill out the census form and LIE. My ex-wife put one of our cats on the voters’ roll.
oldfart: I sure hope you don’t think your wife did something unique? Out here in the Great Left Coast, about 5% of the votes cast were on behalf of a cat, or dog, or “I just moved last week” Johnnies. But in Elections Canada, no complaint is too big to not-investigate.
@gunney99 It was eighteen, at that time rare for cats, no longer now they live to twenty-five and more.
So no more agricultural subsidies then?
I’m lovin it.
I’ve always wondered why Canada did not want to run the Canadian Wheat Board in the same manner as the United States ran the Grain Corporation in the Great War. Once they were able to wrap things up, the Grain Corporation was wound down, only to be copied by Canada during the next World War.

You will see that Herbert Hoover was the involved in all of this. For an interesting read, see:

hello sol.
I have refused to fill out a census form in the past when the long form was mandatory. Ignored all the pressure to do so and eventually they went away.
Go wash your whiskers mouse boy.
Frankly I’m in favour of decriminalizing both.
Wheat burocracy instituted to ensure food supply for the UK in WWII.
Yeah, I’d say its job is done.
I would love to hear more from Sun News but I’m on Telus Satellite aka Bell/CTV and they don’t want me to watch these horrid shows.
Great line Kate.
Hopefully now we can get some movement to make the CWB voluntary or dumped.
Steve, keep pestering your tv programming provider or threaten to switch.
