Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Comment read on BNN this a.m.:
When Iggy makes those wierd hand-gestures,I’m not sure if he wants me to vote for him,or steal third!
Boy. Doesn’t get richer than this.
The Subsidized Housing Guy taking the Homeless Man to task for being a no-show.
Love watching these two scorpions in the coalition jar. It’s like watching the Tsar and Lenin have at it bareknuckle-style.
CTV gives Harper #1 and Layton #2. Iffy 1/2 of Layton and that is about right. Kinsella sees it differently I imagine?
Iffy had some old stuff about crime prevention and victims regurgitated from old university texts of failed practitioners still teaching.
Iffy was destroyed by his attendance record and couldn’t recover. He kept trying to bait the PM into a mudslinging match with his comments that his parents landed as immigrants but failed to mention the stop over with wads of cash in the UK. Harper refused to be baited and looked totally in control.
Taliban Jack demonstrated that he is from and belongs in Toronto. Elect me and I will spend everything and more. Never mind the rural areas for Doctors or gun registry.
If Iggy were Obama, would that make him a Black Russian?
Piss on Jack, always muddling in provincial jurisdiction with federal, the man is an open faced liar.
Tweet from Klown-show Kady:
“Why are Iggy’s eyes so red? Allergies? Antihistimines might explain some odd pauses.”…unbelievable.
I have to say that Mr. Harper’s stare into the camera was a little… odd. I think I know why he was doing that — speaking to Canadians and all that — but I think I would have preferred him to look at the dorks on the stage whilst engaging them.
Lickmuffin, maybe Harper is like me….when forced to deal with people I detest, I have trouble with eye contact too.
Can we have a juxtapose?
Jack’s indignation at ‘private’ health care vs. the fact he went Shouldice clinic for hernia repair.
How about a caption contest for Iggy responses to Layton in that video?
Start with: “That’s not fair, I was on the bus”.
Is Duceppe the epitome of the attitudes extant in French Canada, because if he is then “Houston we have a problem”? The French in Quebec pride themselves on their progressive modern attitudes as opposed to the scary conservatives. Here we have this man Duceppe, baiting the other leaders because they don’t support a Quebec composed of French speakers only. Steve Paikan should have called him on his shoddy bigotry since nobody else would.
Iggy’s channeling Mao? Maybe HE has the hidden agenda?

ya gotta luv cbc’s cut & paste job on the National last nite, They show Ignatieff spouting the jets, jails quick cut healthcare. However in the actual debate he was flustered & struggling to spit it out.
And funny No Mention of their Future(if they get in)Billion dollar Daycare Boondoggle. And No mention of the Cap & Trade.
Final Impression of Ignatieff, He was in his Lecture Hall with his students.
Laytons zinger was planned, saw a commercial after debate with same theme How many days missed, In fact why not say how many days all Liberals were in attendance.
Not watching French Debates as the Owen Sound Attack(OHL) can put away Plymouth Whalers tonite & its telecast on Rogers Cable TV.
Go Attack Go!!!!
Btw anyone notice the PM was the Only one to take Duceppe to the task over this Bill 101 in Quebec. Layton fumbled there big time & Ignatieff way off in La La Land of Oz
I only watched a few minutes of Iffy dodging most of the questions in favour of not answering said questions by politically blustering the three lib talking points. Telling Harper he rules Canada, how bloody funny coming for a Royal Count. Jack and Harper wiped the floor with Iffy and Dippydo looked like he’d fall asleep wake up and rant and rave and go back to nighty night.
another thing i noticed, the constant interuptions from the Opposition, trying their best to not let the PM answer, Can you imagine what it would have been like if May was there? Repeat of the last Election Debates only they were standing.
* I recall the PM once jumping in when Ignatieff talked about the No Coalition But the Votes cant recall what they called it the PM was quick to jump on it(someone help me out on that one cant remember), Over all he respected the other leaders He remained calm & let them talk.
* But this is the left liberal/ndp way Never let the opponent make their point shout over them, Dont beleive me just watch any Power Play when you have the MP’s forum or Strategist forum.
I can’t stand the guy but Duceppe is quite correct when he asserts that Quebec’s society is not compatible with the “mosaic” concept that sees immigrants keeping their own culture.
I also believe that the rest of Canada should adopt the same policy. Policies like “mosaic” weaken the fabrick of our country. We become a mini United Nations and we all know how that’s working. The US model of a “melting pot” is much more conducive to nation building.
My sister-in-law made this observation which deserves to be repeated far and wide… and then farther and wider:
Jack Laytons closing statement: The Liberals served, and failed- The conservatives served, and failed- the NDP deserves the chance to fail you!
Ah yes, Mr. Cherniak. Would love to hear his long list of excuses for Iggy’s lackluster performance. It would sound a lot like the Monty Python’s Dead Parrot Sketch:
“he’s not dead, he’s just resting”
I can’t help but think this is more of a “I tried pot, but I didn’t inhale” or “I voted for the war before I voted against it” regarding Iggy’s voting record!
Damm i wish i could remember how the PM jumped on what Ignatieff said about total votes, anyways CBC was quick on that one in the National showing how Ontario Liberal David Peterson formed a pact with then NDP Leader Bob Rae after the Consevatives Miller only acheived a Minority back in 1985.
Funny how that clip was all ready out of the can after the debate comments on Coalition or Pacts, it was like the CBC knew in advance what Chairman Ignatieff(Flowers in Bloom) was going to say.
This whole election is one big conspiracy with the Liberals,NDP, CBC & other liberal leaning MSM with the BQ the Ace hidden in the sleeve.
Canadians reaction to the english language debate thus far a 21 POINT LEAD in the latest Compass poll.
Those would be ‘shoot an arrow and hurl a tomahawk’ at em type numbers.
PMSH deftly puts on the war whoop as the “Coalitionistas” plan turns kindling into ashen embers. Meanwhile the MSM is suffering ataxia and conniption fits.

Tories destined for a majority: Pollster
Stephen Harper’s Conservatives have gained a massive 21-point lead over Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals, according to a new COMPAS Research poll obtained exclusively by QMI Agency.
In Ontario, the Liberals trail their Conservative opponents in every area of the province except Toronto — although Harper leads in the city’s suburbs.
The poll, the largest telephone survey of the campaign, also found that Ignatieff is trailing both the Conservatives and the NDP in Quebec, as NDP Leader Jack Layton shows some surprising strength in the province.
Pollster Conrad Winn said Harper is particularly strong in Ontario and all points west.
“The way things are going, he’s destined for a majority,” Winn said. “The only chance they have is to prevent him from forming a majority, and for that they would need far higher public confidence in the leaders of the opposition than exists.”
Gord @ 2:02 am, it gets funnier every time.
Jamie nails it @ 7:43.
I was left wondering last night, why Gilles Duceppe is even invited to these debates. I think if he wants to participate, there should be one just on Quebec issues. That way, the other candidates can hold his feet to the fire rather than him simply criticizing the others. He’s a tool from the toes, up. Also, for those of you familiar with the SNL character played by Justin Timberlake “Bring it on down to Omletteville”, did Jack Layton not remind you of him?
This debate was better than the 06 one but still a kindergarden affair compared to US Presidential debates.
Harper won and deserves his long overdue majority.
Layton is a socialist but he is consistent so no whore like the Liberals are, so the NDP deserves official opposition.
Until the Liberals know where they stand instead of just attaining power at all cost (Who was the government bastard that leaked the A.G’s report we’ll never know, but I had the gut feeling some lefty low blow like this would surface eventually…Lefties simply cannot accept defeat honorably)
I don’t understand why Harper did not throw in the fact that the troika coalition contract is still valid until June of this year?…Maybe he’s waiting for the right moment which should be 3~4 days before vote day: It should be a TV spot too.
The Layton knock out “days in parliament” debate with Iggy should be made into a TV ad too.
IMO, the worst of the two debates is tonight in frenchy Queerbec…The lefty ‘climate change, dirty oil, social justice’ vomitorium will be a much bigger challenge for Harper as the medias might potentially have lots of garbage to print and report again’st common sense AKA Harper.
Tonight, it’s truly the sock and sandles night…Perhaps Beaver May could sneak in and woe the amphibians some more.
I’m hoping Harper goes for Duceppe’s jugular…He needs to remind Qcers that they are never in power with the Bloc (There is wind of that discontent in Quebec right now)…He needs to remind them of what Lucien Bouchard says about the Bloc still being there even when the Province has no more appetite to secede.
Quebecers will first bicker at the truth but will come around…They need a swift kick in the butt for a reality check.
The Bloc could not have a better name. Everything is ‘blocked’ in Quebec, hardly anything gets approval anymore, it is an ecofascist world just like California. Quebec is totally constipated.
BTW, a carbon trade scheme between California and Quebec is underway…The MSM reported this AM that BC was part of it but that Province is now saying “Not so fast”(The Libs tax on oil had gone so well with the public the last time there)…Ontario and Manitoba are supposed to join the fray too down the road. Just try it McGuinty!
Different Bob: If you are an immigrant to Quebec you will learn French and your children will be taught in French. Is that an effective way to prepare new Canadians for a future in Canada? OK if you spend your whole life in Quebec but people move around now and they sometimes look for opportunities outside their home province. Knowing English outside of Quebec can come in handy.
Iggy wants to be PM of Canada, but seems to want to skip all the boring prerequisites:
1. Live and work in Canada
2. Come to work and vote as an MP
3. Win a party leadership vote
And people wonder why the Liberals are no longer taken seriously.
English being that pesky “other official language”.
I think the NDP as official opposition with a Conservative majority would be great. You would actually get a debate on principles then. The Liberals have been so wish washy it is sickening to see.
Folks, if you have a Facebook page, please go to the direct Youtube page of this video and share it there.
We need this clip to go viral in Canada, ASAP.
This is not satire.
Of Hope and Fear.
Popeye, the I’M’Iggy Man.
Liberal Count I’M’Iggy = O’Harvard O’narcissist*.

>>> “And what what’s more ridiculous is that he’s trying to make you afraid of me, myself.”
But Ignatieff said a government led by the Liberals would bring back hope for Canadians.
“Do I scare you? Is there something sinister about me? Look carefully,” he said drawing some laughter from the crowd. “I am what I am. A patriotic Canadian citizen. I love my country.”

“Knowing English outside of Quebec can come in handy.”
nold
No kidding…I’m one of them. I went to school in French but was lucky enough to have a my mother that grew up in Ontario, so she was bilingual…TV and radio was always in English, so I learned most of it that way. It’s just amazing how young children exposed to a certain environment can learn…Anyway, I never was comfortable in the French Quebec culture…it’s boring music and TV shows always referring to the past; the language…Always about the %$#@*^@% language…I have no plans of returning to live there. Ever.
I left Quebec in 1995 for better job oppertunity and more so so my kids could go to school in English and have a chance, instead of being either a welfare receipient or if somewhat lucky, in some Quebec Government job.
IMO, a language is a means of communication. The distinct “Joie de vivre” and famous Quebec hospitality can still be present in someone’s heart and being even if said person speaks other than French. It’s an illogical obsession.
A majority of Qc parents want to have the choice to send their kids to English school but the Government is not giving in right now.
Quebec is still the zit faced, awkward and insecure teen discovering himself…50 years later!
You know what they say to do with kids that won’t leave home to fly they’re own wings?: You push them out of the nest.
The most dependent Province screams it wants to be left alone…What a joke!
Excellent work by Layton here . . . right up until the end. What was he thinking by backing off with his last comment?
Maureen at 11:00 AM: “I think the NDP as official opposition with a Conservative majority would be great. You would actually get a debate on principles then. The Liberals have been so wish washy it is sickening to see.”
===============
I agree. It would guarantee the Cons a long term at the helm, too.
Prize for dumb comment last night may be a toss up between Ignatieff and Duceppe.
Ignatieff gave us “health prevention” ( Is that actually in the Redbook)
This might qualify but it is such a stunner that it will take days to even try and break this one down
Ignatieff was asked “How do you think you did?”
His obscure or unintelligible reply was “That’s like asking a horse in the middle of a horse race”
Duceppe had a dandy
“Duck Registry”
Honorable mention goes to Ignatieff for this gem
In discussing gun registration Harper said registration is not control, and in fact there are licensing rules in place for hand guns and some weapons are outlawed but shot guns of the hunters are not the problem of gun crime in the cities.
Iggy’s gem in reply
“Long gun, short gun who cares – all they know is they’re dead”
@Peterb,
What Iffy knows about Guns is about as much as he knows about crime. Or anything else like showing up in Parliament or voting?
He kept on about “Crime prevention” as if it is a new and innovative concept (doesn’t really work either) and beside – law enforcement is a provincial and municipal responsibility except where the RCMP rules in smaller towns and villages but he forgot that.
Pardon my cynicism, but anyone who has his/her vote swayed by a debate probably has trouble differentiating sh*t from shinola anyway. Anyone paying attention knows the issues and where the parties stand. Anyone paying attention knows the track record of the parties and how they voted on the major issues (ie. gun registry), who stole taxpayers’ money (hint: Liberals), who are rabid socialists and who are separatists running candidates in one province only.
Harper is a gentleman, a statesman and behaves in a mature, common sense manner, resisting the urge to take a cheap shot even when the opportunity presents itself.
Layton acts like a used car salesman and, due to his party’s standing, can make promises for which he’ll never be held accountable.
Ignatieff is a bumbling idiot.
And Duceppe is an irrelevant loudmouth.
The debate comes down to trivial issues such as who had the best tie, whose suit was ill-fitting and who looked into the camera rather than at his opponents. Real important issues!
And for those who rejoice in Layton possibly stealing a few seats from the Liberals, keep in mind that a NDP-Lib-BQ coalition is identical to a Lib-NDP-BQ coalition.
The Subsidized Housing Guy taking the Homeless Man to task for being a no-show.
Jamie MacMaster
That is about correct.. although any George Sorus, puppet Iggy, homeless has no borders…
George Sorus talking points = Liberal Talking Points….Strange? NOT
From the CBC comments
Iggy’s promised Family Pack. What does Iggy really think about families?
Michael Ignatieff : “Why I Abandoned My Children.” “Michael Ignatieff explains why he abandoned his children.” “You cannot live a life for others.” “They burden us.”
It shows what he really thinks about others. Iggy cannot be trusted
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KdO1kdc0xo&feature=related
This is another reason he is the least trusted leader in Canada
I disagree with those who say Duceppe shouldnt be in the debate. If he performs like last night then anyone who figures that a Lib NDP coailition is going to have to rely on that guy is going to get super queasy.
Now I can only hope Gilles brings the crazeee to the french language debate as well.
Rumours from the cons are there are real gains, not landslide gains, but gains nonetheless shaping up for them in rural Quebec.
3 seats in Newf
3 in Que
5 in ontario
4 out in Man to BC
and voila you have a majority. But there are more Ontario seats that will go.
It is still going to be close and the cons will only have 3-7 seat majority but it is possible.
Of course if this was post seat redistribution….well, then its comfotable con majority.
Layton nailed Iggy and thats going to be it.
Barring anymore interference from the Canadian Public Service (whose sphincters are puckering at this point) Steve may get his majority. Then he has to use it properly to get stuff done! Defincit elimination being priority 1, claning house of all the hanger on groups and funding is priority 2 that supports priority 1.
Now if we could just get a couple of Supreme Court Justices to retire I would be even happier.
maz2: “(Liberal leader Bob Rae is Maurice Strong’s nephew.)”
That’s very INTERESTING.
“Bob Rae blasts Harper ‘jihadis'”
From your link:
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2011/02/24/17396346.html
“Meanwhile, Liberal MP Bob Rae blamed the Oda controversy on Prime Minister Stephen Harper for creating a culture in his office where unelected political staffers — which he described as ’25-year-old jihadis’ — routinely overrule ministers, senior bureaucrats and senior diplomats.”
“But Kairos drew the ire of some Conservatives, notably Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, for what Tories believed was an anti-Israel and possibly anti-Semitic bias to Kairos’ work.”
Bob Rae should be ashamed of himself. Is his wife not on the board of the Canadian Jewish Congress?
Of all people, Rae should know the meaning of the word, ‘jihadist’ and use it sparingly and above all, accurately. What a nasty windbag.
Unless he can cite REAL examples, he should shut up.
As for the Bev Oda ‘scandal’ as the media call that kerfuffle, she is the cabinet minister in charge. She had the right to NOT fund KAIROS.
What small-minded twits dwell in the dark places and talk wistfully of letting the flowers bloom.
Ignatieff: the unelected professor of democracy
Hull has the lowest employment rate in Canada, they vote bloc and here’s what irritates the crap out of me: Most of those employed in Hull Quebec cross the bridge and work in Ottawa as snivel servants-they love those goberment jobs yet they vote to seperate. I wish they would think of all those cushy snivel service jobs open to the rest of the country instead of exclusively to Hull Ontario zip codes?
Ignatieff is not only the Count, he would be great as a Dracula in silent movies.
That’s interesting–because this AM–the Globe and Mail ran this headline. “Ignatieff’s rebuke of Harper majority hailed as Liberal “turning point.”
Turning point?? In what direction??
Talk about disillusioned.
Simeon: “Piss on Jack, always muddling in provincial jurisdiction with federal, the man is an open faced liar.”
I’m with you, Simeon. I’m glad Layton dinged Iggy real good, pointing out his dismal voting record in the HOC, but Jack doesn’t put his money where his mouth is. It’s easy to be a hail fellow well met when you know you’re never going to be in power and the buck’s never going to stop with you.
He avails himself of private health care but denies it to other Canadians. He and his wife, Olivia Chowdown spent $1.2-million of taxpayers’ money last year to live a lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed and, yet, he and Olivia purport to care for the little guy, for the average working family.
Total BS. Jack’s a phony.
“Cool Hand Harper”…By Don Braid of the Vancouver Sun.
“Even his enemies will have to conclude that he stays calm in the face of extreme provocation. The mystery is why his opponents didn’t learn this in 2008, when Harper showed the same flat, emotionless look of the patient cobra waiting for his moment to strike the mongoose.:
LOL!
