Roy Rogers’s whiskered sidekick Gabby Hayes never had a chance to record “Angel of the Morning” – he sadly passed away years before the 1981 hit was released – but the late Walter Brennan did release a cover version of Kenny Rogers’s 1969 hit Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town.

I may be old, but my early memory is still intact.
Angel of the Morning was originally realased in the 1960’s. And, I preferred the earlier version over Ms. Newton’s.
Men have abortions too, you know.
David Thompson – you can’t go wrong.
Aha, Mike – so Gabby did have his chance. And he blew it.
Kate, you have to check into this: THE CBC IS SHOWING LIBERAL CAMPAIGN ADS FOR FREE!!!!
This is the second time this has happened. I was home at lunch today watching some tube while I ate and I happened to stop at Newsworld (I know, I know, big mistake) I was floored that once again, under the guise of reporting news, the CBC showed the latest Liberal ad as part of its broadcast. They framed it as the Liberal’s response to the AG leak. (As an aside, it was a remarkably detailed ad for a leak that only happened a couple of days ago). They did the exact same thing last week when the person was tossed from a Conservative event. Again, it was the CBC showing as “news” the Liberal’s ad in response to the ejection of said person from the Tory event. I can only stomach the CBC for little bits at a time but I truly have to wonder how many times this has been repeated through the day. In fairness, they might have done the same for the Tory’s and the NDP, but, knowing the CBC, I highly doubt it.
I’d register a complaint to Elections Canada, but they’re in the Liberal bag anyways. How the he!! does this get stopped?

Poll on who won the debate. We need to hammer home what Layton asked, “Ignatieff, if you respect Parliament, why have you missed 70% of the votes?”

Craig Oliver just about nearly choked as he proclaimed that Harper won the debate. Then he turned around and said that Stephen Harper didn’t say where he was going to lead the country if he won. What debate did he watch? Oh yeah, he was on ice until it was time for the newscast. Unbelievable!!
Good news for Shaw customers who want to watch Sun News Network – it will be free on cable/direct for six months starting April 18.

Does Marijuana Cause Global Warming?
http://www.globalwarming.org/2011/04/12/does-marijuana-cause-global-warming/
Indoor marijuana cultivation consumes enough electricity to power 2 million average-sized U.S. homes, which corresponds to about 1 percent of national power consumption, according to a study by a staff scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Anon – interesting article in the Toronto Sun. Especially since I just received a reply from Shaw today indicating that Sun News Network will be a 30 day ‘free preview’, not 6 months. After that customers will be able to order the channel as part of the Specialty Line-up for $2.95 per month plus tax. I wonder if Francis at Shaw e-Care Account Support is wrong or The Toronto Sun.
Still, I’ll take it.
Merrilee Rush did the late 60s version of Angel of The Morning.

Why does MSM keep on talking up their Separatist Coalition?
PM Harper knew he did not have to “mention the Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition”. MSM does that on his behalf.
The fear/awe of the MSM for the lone conservative is evident.
PM Harper dared to be a Daniel, Dared to stand alone, in the den of the Separatist Coalition.
PM Harper slew 3 cowardly socialist lions.
Selley/MSM:
“Most notably, not once did he go out of his way to mention the Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition that’s supposedly lying in wait to seize power if the Conservatives win another minority. We can only hope it will rub off on his war room.”

“outraged environmental groups.”
…-
“Congress, in a First, Removes an Animal From the Endangered Species List
Congress for the first time is directly intervening in the Endangered Species List and removing an animal from it, establishing a precedent for political influence over the list that has outraged environmental groups.
A rider to the Congressional budget measure agreed to last weekend dictates that wolves in Montana and Idaho be taken off the endangered species list and managed instead by state wildlife agencies, which is in direct opposition to a federal judge’s recent decision forbidding the Interior Department to take such an action.
While the language on the Rocky Mountain wolves was a tiny item in budgetary terms, environmental groups said it set an unnerving precedent by letting Congress, rather than a science-based federal agency, remove endangered species protections.
The rider is the first known instance of Congress’ directly intervening in the list. While Congress overrode the protections extended to a tiny Tennessee fish called the snail darter about two decades ago, it did so by authorizing the construction of a dam that had originally been tabled to protect the fish. In that case, Congress did not overturn scientists’ findings about the fish’s viability.”

Grope my children please!
I can hardly credit that there are people who believe it is not only acceptable, but preferable that they allow government officials touch their children’s privates in the name of safety.

Just got off the phone with Shaw. Sun News TV is scheduled to air April 18 on channel 517. This is subject to technical issues.
Dang TSA frisking and drug testing a 5 year old girl was caught by the comment moderation. Huh? Please release me, let me go….
Liberal Count Ignatieff did not say this:
“… we are the people we’ve been waiting for; that we’ve always been waiting for and who will never, ever leave.”

In a statement that may become a classic, the former speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, appealed to Republicans to remember that whatever their differences, everyone in Congress belonged to the Party of the Incumbents. It was their class duty to close ranks against outsiders like the Tea Party. For they, and only they, knew what was good for the nation.
[Begin Nancy Pelosi] To my Republican friends: take back your party. So that it doesn’t matter so much who wins the election, because we have shared values about the education of our children, the growth of our economy, how we defend our country, our security and civil liberties, how we respect our seniors. Because there are so many things at risk right now — perhaps in another question I’ll go into them, if you want. But the fact is that elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do…But when it comes to a place where there doesn’t seem to be shared values then that can be problematic for the country, as I think you can see right now. [End Nancy Pelosi]
“Elections shouldn’t matter as much as they do”. The permanent elite in Washington knows best and has always known best; moreover it will always know best, however great the screwup they’ve landed the country in. The one invariant, the single unchanging star, the final certainty is that we are the people we’ve been waiting for; that we’ve always been waiting for and who will never, ever leave.
It was an astonishing declaration by a woman, who I think says it from very bottom of her being. In 1776, John Adams hoped that a legislature would be “in miniature an exact representation of the people at large. It should think, feel, reason like them.” No more.
In Pelosi’s conception it had become something else. The province of the special people, with the right academic degrees, the right number of years in Washington and a sufficient quantity of cosmetic enhancement to qualify as players.
From there it is but a little, baby step to the acceptance of secret diplomacy; the divine right of kings, applauded by the court and great nobles — all, all — on their way over a cliff.”

AGW won’t matter when this baby goes off….let’s do the math, shall we….
“The hotspot finally reached Yellowstone about 2 million years ago, yielding three huge caldera eruptions about 2 million, 1.3 million and 642,000 years ago. Two of the eruptions blanketed half of North America with volcanic ash, producing 2,500 times and 1,000 times more ash, respectively, than the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington state. Smaller eruptions occurred at Yellowstone in between the big blasts and as recently as 70,000 years ago.”

The voice that CBC is using for PMSH’s translation sounds like a young Daffy Duck. They did this last time also, shame on them.
I noticed the same thing, wallyj.
Layton’s got the deep, manly voice of a very Scottish Sean Connery.
Will the chicanery never end? Please, God, a majority in three weeks.
Yes, the lisp is back. It obviously wasn’t just an accident last time. And do you notice that when the other candidates interrupt Mr. Harper, their translators are louder than his?
It’s farcical.
I love the citizen-Quebecers’s questions:
“Where’s my stuff?”
“How much money are you going to give me, personally? Who’s going to pony up and get my vote?”
This broadcast is very close to being unwatchable. On the bright side, most of English Canada has likely drifted away. The down side is that the media pundits will be telling all that Ignatieff was brilliant, might even be a game-changer.
