Whether Michael Ignatieff wants him or not, a jettisoned Liberal candidate will be running for the Grits.
The Liberal Leader booted Quebec candidate André Forbes from the party last week for once describing aboriginal people as “featherheads” and questioning their work ethic.
But Mr. Forbes did not pull out of the race and will remain a Liberal on the ballot in the northern Quebec riding of Manicouagan.
I bet it comes as a surprise to Iggy his authority does not extend to firing someone the party has chosen. Aww.
Isn’t that the same thing the Libs did with their controversial former judge, after they were able to extract their forced Maoist-style public mea culpa — “I have sinned against socialism comrades” — from him?
Expect a similar public apology from Forbes as well in the next few days, followed by Ignatieff’s “the Party has exonerated you, dear comrade”.
Actually I think both of these Libs should stand by their free speech rights, denounce the Liberal embrace of Maoism and join the Conservatives!
It would be interesting to know how many people actually agree with André Forbes.
Other than the politically correct, I don’t hear anyone praising the native culture in Canada as it currently exists.

I think ‘native culture’ has, as characteristics, a spirit of generosity and respect for elders. The natives also value creativity and the natural world. The reserves where I live vary quite a bit, depending on their people. Generally speaking, I tend to like them. There will always be dissenting factions, but as a whole, they’re good people.
Very interesting that Iggy’s booting someone from the party doesn’t mean they can’t run as a Liberal.

I have no problem with people claming my ethnic group(Irish) have more than their fair share of loudmouths and lushes. I can’t comment on other ethnic groups, except to say: The more defensive you get, the more people are going to believe the stereotypes apply across the board.
So will Mr. Ignatieff repay every single dollar that the LPC will receive in vote grants for the votes that mr. Forbes gets?
