2. The lady calls them farmers instead of serfs or indentured peasants. This seems to display a
   touching concern for these constantly grumbling masses who don’t seem to appreciate the
   fine work being done on their behalf by their betters.

7. Oh well. It will only change when wheat farmers get out their tractors and plug up downtown Winnipeg for a week or two.
   Right about now Blaikie and Martin – big supporters of the wheat board – could sure use that kind of exposure in their ridings.
   Won’t happen though. Too bad. There’s still ice in the curling rinks…

9. As a 3rd generation farmer, I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me. The CWB hss to go. I am tired of driving my wheat to Ontario to sell through my friends.

    My brothers-in-law have asked me many times over the years why western farmers stand for this Soviet style grain grain monopoly.

15. What if Prairie farmers opted to boycott producing wheat for a year? If even 30% of those who normally would have farmed wheat instead planted alfalfa or canola or soy or anything else, it would have a significant impact on the CWB. And if *nobody* planted wheat this year, what could the CWB do? Nothing.

    Been tried before? In Winnipeg? During a federal electuion campaign? I don’t think so.
    I can’t speak for Manitoba farmers, but I know quite a bit about what it takes to get a tractor convoy to the legislature going in Ontario: the prospect of some government largesse.
    The erosion of roperty rights, cruel marketing systems – that stuff just doesn’t resonate for the vast majority of farmers.
    Full of excuses: too busy (old-timers hockey), doesn’t affect me (not yet); etc.
    Oh, and the latest excuse to do nothing: blame the public for doing nothing…

To give western farmers the choice of where to sell their grain, all the PM has to do is walk down the hall to the Justice Minister ( exactly like he did on the recent change to the citizens arrest law) and tell him to make the CWB Act conform to the Charter of Rights which is the superior piece of paper in this country.
    I find it hard to beleve that the Chief Justice has allowed the Justice Department to be abused so blatantly by a bunch of crooked politicians.
    The CWB does not have the proper authority to do what they are doing, ie infringing on individual rights.
    They can get it but they don’t have it according to the laws of the land.
