    But I too had a teenage crush on Liz,any red blooded boy would have after seeing “Suddenly Last Summer”.

  5. To see her at the peak of her beauty, watch *A Place in the Sun*. She was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous.
    Just finished reading *Furious Love*, the Taylor/Burton saga.
    No wonder she could relate to Michael Jackson – they both had warped childhoods. She, as was he, was a victim of a parent’s ambition. Talk about living vicariously through your children. At least her brother was clever enough to sabotage Mom’s attempts to make him a star as well and seems to have lived a relatively normal life.
    I think, given her abnormal upbringing and lifestyle, she did really well with her children and I suppose that’s the legacy that counts.

  10. Stunningly beautiful. Passionate beyond belief. If she had an inner voice that told her to tone it down, she never heard it nor paid it any heed. She lived a life most others haven’t the balls to do.

  13. I walked right past her inside Holt Renfrew on Bloor St.
    She’s really short, not what you’d expect.
    She had on huge movie star sunglasses and a big hat.
    My buddy did the double take and dragged me back to get a better look at her and her husband/contractor-guy she met while in rehab.
    Crowds of mostly women were following her through the store and trying to look like they weren’t.
    As short as she is, there will never be another movie star as “big” as she was.

  14. I agree with a previous poster she was at her most beautiful in film in ‘A Place in The Sun’.
    I didn’t really like her look in ‘Cleopatra’, but she looked pretty good in MILF/cougar territory in the 60’s.
    She was a ‘Star’, so she sort of sucked after her looks faded.
    Life is cruel: She looked like Richard Belzer in the Papparazi shots in her last health crisis.

  18. My mother was fortunate enough to sit and chat with Liz.Thought her sweet and very polite, my dad was so pissed that he went to a Masonic meeting. Who goes to a Masonic meeting while on vacation in Hawaii?

    True but I like to say at least one about a Human being. She had what I think was a tragic life that she created around her . Other people where just collateral damage to her. By a hedonists behavior, that had no bounds.

  25. She was a 20 in a world of 10’s. I am devastated that she never got around to ME.., my dreams won’t have that same Zing..
    My wife bought me tickets to Richard Burton & Liz’s Stage performance (1980’s) in Philadelphia. It was Burtons last Curtin Call…I got to see her up close…Beautiful, but I understand why she was bedded quickly without any small talk. (Her voice was like finger nails on a Calk Board).

  28. Simeon – that story would make more sense to me if your parents’ roles had been reversed, although I don’t suppose they let women go to masonic meetings.
    I told my godmother, a woman not given to hyperbole, that Taylor had died yesterday. She said she’d seen her on stage 25 years ago; that in a theater those famous “violet” eyes (which had double-lashes, BTW; Liz was a mutant) still jumped out at you (as it were).

  30. Black Mamba my mother also mentioned the violet eyes and double eye lashes. Remember my mother grew up watching Liz and the mere coincident of sitting by her made the meeting that more memorable.
