    Yep it is a deliberate attempt to marginalize their opposition and intentionally invoked to draw the connection to fascists ….. but since the terms lying scum and fraud and scammer applies very justly to the originators of “climate change denier” and so come to think of it does the term fascist…… I won’t lose any sleep over the pejoratives I choose.

  6. It is extremely offensive to some because of its obvious reference to the Holocaust deniers. As a tool to silence skeptics it is just stupid. Making references to a group being kooks or conspiracy theorists only works if it is a fringe group. US polls show that 40-50% of people think that global warming is exaggerated*. At this level of support “deniers” are hardly a lunatic fringe. Warmists need to update their message, the more they use “deniers” the sillier they look.

  14. “Climate Change Denier” is in truth explicitly and deliberately connected by hard core greenies to the Holocaust. It was coined for that purpose, and they came out and said Global Warming(TM) -was- the Holocaust, and that Western Civilization was to blame for it.
    Typical piece of projection, you ask any Greenie what should be done about Humanity, if they answer honestly they’ll say it should be reduced by three quarters at least, and as soon as possible. They dream of empty cities with a few hippies pulling rickshaws full of organically grown hemp.
    Oh and Lefties? Hitler was from your side of the aisle. National -Socialist-, remember? Comparing the DemocRats and Lieberals to the Nazis is entirely reasonable, given their propaganda, programs and policies (with one obvious exception) are virtually identical.

    I guess I shouldn’t be surprised – this IS the “Science Doesn’t Apply” blog, after all. It’s just funny that you would reject the well-established link between greenhouse gases and an increase in global temperature, while claiming that his garbage “seems to have merit”. There’s a reason the guy has never published any peer reviewed research, and why his only public appearances are on late-night radio shows more commonly known for conspiracy-mongering than science-reporting. His “theories” about magnetic reversal are laughable, and his book is full of errors that would make a physics undergrad blush. Worst of all, even the most rudimentary research would have told you that our ancestral species – Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, etc – survived multiple shifts of the magnetic field without any discernible effect.
    If you’re looking to dismiss evolutionary science, you’re almost better off going with the “god created everything 6,000 years ago” scenario.

  16. Funny you should mention that, Alex, with AGW being a religion with a belief system very similar to other fundamentalists religions – absolute obedience, sacred symbols, preachers, original sin, redemption, heresy.
    The fact remains that global warming skepticism has been losing ground not just in the US but even in the secular EU states and places such as India. Calling researchers insulting names rather than debating them (Re:James Cameron, Suzuki, Gore) is indicative of those who fear critical analysis.

    It’s IS an established fact that green house gas concentrations are contiuing to rise and that global temperatures have been falling for over a decade.
    The hypothesis that the green house gasses are a driver of temperature increase has been undeniably falsified.

    The one that caused the large temperature rise in the 1930s before the large scale emission of CO2?
    The one that caused temperature decline in the 1960s and ’70s after the start of the large rise in C02 concentration?
    The large temperature rise during the Holocene despite a drop in CO2?
    The fact that every major change in global temperature for the last half billion years has been FOLLOWED, not PRECEDED, by a change in CO2?
    Like the rest of the green scum, Alex, you confuse cause and effect deliberately to reach a predetermined conclusion.
    Now, when you can provide answers to all of the above, we can talk.
