  3. Is this the same CBC that runs ads for the Cuba Tourist Board? Gee, I wonder where the money from the travel they facilitate ends up… not in the hands of a regime that jails journalists, of course.

    But those journalists are counter-revolutionaries, so Ms. Langenegger would probably argue that they should be jailed.

  5. The cabinet minister was probably intrigued that Ms. Langenegger would acknowledge that other cultures might actually treat her peers worse than she gets treated here. After all, those countries who would lock up their journalists ARE her ideological brethren.

  11. Actually, Mike in Calgary… Would you be really shocked to know, Tony Burman, has moved even closer to his philosophical home.. He is now with Al-Jazeera. I think Avi Lewis, son of “Crying Charlie” girly-man Lewis, is on sabbatical from Al-J, at this time.

  12. Just sent an email of complaint with the link to CBC Ombudsman with a copy to PM Harper noting that this is inappropriate for an ‘unbiased’ CBC reporter to be tweeting this on a CBC account.
    I’ve had a few successes with quasi-apologies from CBC managers, but it is more important to let them know that they are being watched.

  14. She never seemed that crazy back in about ’03-’04, when I had to watch and transcribe news for my job for eight hours a day.
    One thing I did notice was that all the TV reporters “sound” the same, frequently regardless of network. If you can stand it, watch them. When they do their “stand-and-report-in-front-of-the-camera” bits, their cadences are the same (especially CBC), and they’ll all start at least one sentence in that part with “Still”. I can’t not notice it now. That’s why I found that one YouTube video of the generic news report incredibly funny.

  15. I think the girl believes that ALL journalists are state employees… she probably also believes that the legitimate government is a LIberal government.

  18. I always found her to be a tough, independent, freethinking journalist in my working days with the media. She didn’t lean left or right. Yeah it wasn’t always a bed or roses but it never is with journalists who aren’t tame.

  19. Stefani Langenegger is one of the best journalists in Saskatchewan. And I think we can allow for being tongue-in-cheek on a Twitter account.

  20. Uh, I’m pretty sure this is a joke. Langenneger is one of the most thoroughly professional reporters in the game in Saskatchewan. Are any of these commenters actually from Saskatchewan or have any idea of her actual record of reporting news, as opposed to one hack-with-a-blog’s vague remembrance of an eavesdropping that happened five years ago that completely lacked context?

    Maybe jumping to conclusions isn’t the best way to spend your time, friend. Not that comparing Saskatchewan politicians to communist dictators isn’t a TOTALLY reasonable and even-keeled way to spend your time. Because it really is. Yup, perfectly intelligent and level-headed way to spend your time.

    I called Pat Atkinson a Socialist, not a communist. The NDP often refer to themselves as Socialists and they also support Fidel Castro as well as Hugo Chavez.
    You are the one who brought up communists in your little temper-tantrum.
