Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Huffington Post, Oct. 2010 – Solar Panels On White House: Obama To Install Solar Panels In 2011
Washington Post, Feb. 2011 – Dozens of [Washington, CD] residents who installed solar panels on their homes under a government grant program promoting renewable energy have been told they will not be reimbursed thousands of dollars as promised…
Flashback! – “Renege on solar power angers farmers, investors”

But,,, Gore, and Suzuki will give them the money, wont they? It’s for a good cause and,,,
(cue the cricket chirp clip from Cjunk)
Mark Bannister’s claim about 12% return over 20 years in the Simcoe Reformer article is nonsense. Performance will degrade over time as the surfaces get scratched. It’s also likely that the 12% ignores capital costs. And as if that isn’t enough, I’d love to see what insolation flux he’s claiming that Simcoe farmers will get, and what his company’s propaganda suggests will be the average number of clear days.
For the larger picture, just about every government in the world is climbing down from solar subsidies including Germany, so why should we be surprised that Washington is as well? What is truly stupid is the number of people who believed the government’s mendacity in risking their incomes and finances on this.
Some of the most dangerous words in the world are,
“I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”
The beauty of renewables is that politicians can exploit these schemes to boost their environmental bona fides, and then cut them without anyone missing the energy they haven’t produced.
So the government doesn’t keep it’s word. How unique. Sounds like Obama’s enviro-care needs another stimulus.
From the WaPo article, $700,000 for 51 people.
That’s almost 14 grand a person in credits.
Eventually, I’m sure the city will pay up.
The one guy was investing $25,5000.
Always nice to see poor folks subsidizing people with money to invest.
Woops. Fat fingers.
That was $27,500.
All I can say is…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA….
I am happy those watermelons have been screwed by their own government. This makes me smile.
Kate, the problem, as displayed here, is that although no one misses the energy they don’t produce, these green scams are supposed to produce money, in the form of government subsidies … and THAT they do notice.
Hey, Kate, how about this for a pick-up line: “Do you want to clean my green house, babe?
Wow. A government promises to give citizens something, and then renegs.
No story here. Just another example of history repeating itself.
Ugh, Kemo Sabay.
But, what’s the question, Ranger?
Where is that {censored] [censored] ]censored[ socialist McGuinty?
At Queen’s Park, TO, Ranger.

“Costly hydro towers sit idle”
“Hydro One has been powerless to complete a $116-million transmission line upgrade for five years because Caledonia “warriors” won’t allow workers to wire the last towers.
Tory MPP Toby Barrett raised the issue of the stalled Niagara-Caledonia-Middleport transmission corridor in the Ontario Legislature Monday on the fifth anniversary of the Caledonia aboriginal land claim.
He argued it could have an implication for the Big Becky electricity generation project at Niagara Falls.
The entire 76-kilometre stretch of transmission towers, completed except for the missing wires, sits idle while the land negotiations take place.
Hydro workers who attempt to connect the towers are met by aboriginal “militants” who refuse to let them access the site, despite a desire on both the part of Six Nations native and community representatives to move on, Barrett said.
“Today, never used, white elephant power towers march into Caledonia, unfinished, worthless and wireless; five years of trestles from these power towers being used as blockades, festooned with warrior flags,” he said.
Just prior to the Caledonia crisis, Hydro One issued a brochure which highlighted the importance of the new upgraded transmission corridor.
“This project will increase the power transfer capability between Niagara Falls and the rest of Ontario by about 800 mega watts,” a Hydro One manager said. “That’s about the equivalent of a new generating unit at Darlington.”
The bulletin, under the headline “Niagara Reinforcement: Letting the power of the falls flow freely,” says …”.

Fools & their money . . . .
Greenie fools and our money too.
Crap like this gives investing a bad name. There are no guarantees in investing. That is called a bond or GIC.
So Premier Pinocchio of Ontario isn’t the only one to renege on people’s expenditures on the green scam.
When adolecents are voted into power, bad deals happen. Because of the crooks Gore and Suzuki and uncle Mo and their SCAM, glowbull warming, and their accomplices in the media and politics, many people will default on loans and go without because of their gullibility. This is a really big “planet” green morons, we can bugger up pockets of it, but to change the entire temperature, only a libtard, is stupid enough to believe that LIE.
It is surprising that the front running lefty “Family and Friends” of Ontario politics
who must have had first crack at climbing aboard the buyers section of this boondoggle
are quietly taking their bath. Unlessssssssssss most of them knew it was poison from
the start and so just ran along beside a standard pump and dump.
.
“are met by aboriginal “militants” who refuse to let them access the site, despite a”
gee maz, I wonder where the natives learned to do that.
why raigtch heah beagle, in amongst all the remaining broken promises of gubbamint.
oh, I see maz, you mean like how ALL political parties everywhere make promises they can’t keep but people still support them.
No sympathy here…do it on your own dime… not my tax dime.
“The D.C. program is funded by a dedicated tax on city residents’ and businesses’ gas and electric bills. ”
I wonder if the dedicated tax on everyone’s bill has been taken away also.
From one of the earlier linked articles:
“Duguid says the price had to come down on ground-mounted projects, otherwise the province would have to find $1 billion over the next 20 years to cover these generators’ annual rate of return of 25%.”
25% rate of return!! What was the government thinking – oh wait, it’s the government. Talk about rent seekers.
Caveat emptor
This is what you gt from a guy who you know thorns his friends in a chipper when no longer needed. Spends like he’s a King, lies at every opportunity. Hides behind long boring speeches full of BS.
No tears here.

Dozens of [Washington, DC] residents who installed solar panels on their homes under a government grant program promoting renewable energy have been told they will not be reimbursed thousands of dollars as promised…
Just wait to hear the hew and cry when 100s of thousands don’t get their income tax refunds this year…
*interesting times we live in*
……will not be reimbursed thousands of dollars as promised because the funds were diverted ….
Al Capone would be proud.
Obama to install them? with a screwdriver and wrench?
like he hung the curtains?
I doubt if Barry as much as changed the tire on his bike as a youngster.

Re the phantom power line…….
The kicker is that the line runs ADJACENT to the land claim, that was NEVER part of any indian reservation.
Besides if a white guy had this land he would be expropriated instantly and the result backed up by several SWAT/ERT……

“Always nice to see poor folks subsidizing people with money to invest.”
Poor folks don’t subsidize anything! But I will agree with you that the subsidies are ridiculous none the less.
That said, this so called solution to the self inflicted problem will definiately harm the poor and not poor folk alike.
“To that end, the council is considering legislation designed to increase demand by requiring companies to use more renewable energy.”
What a bunch of f’n morons. I’m sure that raising fuel costs on everyone to bolster a few fools and solar companies will do wonders for the budget. What a bunch of A’holes! They’re solution to screwing-over some people is to screw-over everyone some more.
Rant finished:(
That should be [Washington, District of Columbia], not [Washington, County Durham]
