American readers may not realize it but if Prime Minister Harper had spoken at an event such as this he would have been in Canadian media:
Especially had he said something along these lines:
…
Speaking at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, Obama said his Christianity has been a “sustaining force” during times when doubt have been raised about his faith and that of his family.
“We are reminded that ultimately what matters is not what other people say about us, but whether we’re being true to our conscience and true to our God,” Obama said…

I wonder who Obama’s God is.
I’m not going to listen to him pretend to be a Christian when I’m positive the only idol he worships is his own mug of narcissism.
Himself, ATRIC.
And I was wondering why the MFM was puffing Obama over his “Christian faith” so much this morning. so it was because of the annual Prayer Breakfast. I knew there had to be a real reason for it and not just the usual cheer-leading.
Don’t let him say grace over that meal! It’s sinful to consume food sacrificed to idols!
ATRIC wrote: “I wonder who Obama’s God is.
I believe I can answer that…
“Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.””
Notice he was very clear with respect to what his price is. Do you think it has changed in 2000 years?
Everyone is missing the point. Harper would be torn to shreds by the Multi-Cult Worshiping/Leftist/Secularist media in this country because of his Christian beliefs and that’s what’s frightening.
I am somewhat confused that the same America that can s myself.o blindly run around removing church (mostly Christian) from state would not have a problem with their leader speaking at an event like this.
Although, given the great 0’s track record of endorsing stuff, I’d start saying a silent prayer.
Eh. If he wants to make himself look stupid, he’s free to do so. Ditto for Harper.
Really? Canadians are so rigourously secular that showing up at a prayer breakfast is a sin? I’m not a Christian, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll get bent out of shape if a politician talks about their Christian (or any other faith).
Sad.
Madman2001
“Canadians are so rigourously secular that showing up at a prayer breakfast is a sin”
Naw. It just makes for a snazzy headline.
What puzzles me is the criticism of Christians for believing in God when the same people worship Utopia. If you look at the respective gathering of the tribe, one throws rocks and one sings hymns. One shows respect and the other belittles.
And yet the Utopians feel they are on the higher moral ground. Curious that.
“What puzzles me is the criticism of Christians for believing in God when the same people worship Utopia”
You gotta tell your dealer to stop lacing your weed with windex.
Too close to the truth?
Madman: “..Canadians are so rigourously secular that showing up at a prayer breakfast is a sin?”
No…just the Canadian MSM would think so.
Mark…this is a year old. Why post it now?
Just asking..
“Too close to the truth?”
Complete nonsense, more like. Not only is the phrase “worship utopia” completely meaningless, but you’re trying to defend your silly belief in gods by trotting out your OTHER silly belief about non-believers. I figure that sort of lapse in judgment could only be caused by inhaling harmful chemicals.
Oh well mouthing the right (Christian) words at the National Prayer Breakfast gives Ostumblebum cover for his advancing Islam around the world.
bluetech: Quelle horreur! Got the year wrong with the video, fixed with the current and thanks.

Careful with the bi-lingual comments on this blog, Mark, you aren’t in Ottawa now!
Didn’t you get the memo Speedy? Alex is better than all of us.
Canada (the official version anyway) turned its back on God a long time ago, seems that a certain P.E. Trudeau was more than good enough as an earthly substitute.
As for Obama’s Christian faith, that could be a cover story for something else, or just another thing he made up.
Alex and other militant athiests are idiots. People like he like to insult and belittle those that have faith all the while ignoring the fact that many of the most brilliant people dead and alive have faith.
Yes, alex is an idiot for his belief that he is better and others are silly. His faith in his own beliefs (or lack there of) betrays to everyone (Christians, Muslims, agnostics and athiets) what an idiot he his.
Speedy @ 9:02, exactly.
Mark had the caption right. Karl Marx is the new God of the left.
Chairman Kaga I try to always let them expose themselves by letting their last statement stand as proof they are fighting unarmed in a battle of wits.
larben: But how to communicate the feeling of “Quelle horreur” in English? Wie furchtbar?
Perhaps a gap in our language.

Mark @10:27 – “Oh Sh*t!”, peut-etre?
lol. I’m getting called an idiot by a guy with an imaginary friend 🙂 Priceless!!
See.
Still worshiping utopia, skippy?
Alex, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, a Thai woman sat in a glass cage full of scorpions for 32 days.
She’s laughing at you, Alex. “Alex is weak!” she says. “He fears and shuns scorpions! He is puny and snivelling and lacks the fortitude to challenge my record! Instead of grappling with scorpions, he annoys people on a blog in Canada, displaying his pathetic desperation for attention! He is not a man! Hahaha!”
Are you going to let her get away with that kind of smack, Alex?
no faith here Alex
perhaps you’d like to speak to your unshakable faith in you own beliefs.
it’s obvious from your vacuous response that you are more interested in name calling than actually considering what has been said and discussing it.
You remind me of the Sask Green Party leader who phones the Gormely show and makes a fool of herself for all to hear. I’ve told John that regardless of how entertaining she is, and the fact that she’s the leader of a so called ‘political party(sic)’, it’s still low brow to allow a young pup to make such a fool of herself. yup, sounds just like alex.
and yes Mamba, I now regret asking “where are the trolls?”
Awesome; another person who’s smoked himself retarded. Aren’t there any normal people on this blog?
Alex, when you display that what other people think is important to you and that you sorely need others to reciprocate to people who just don’t give a flying fk, you are bound to get called out for being an idiot. You may fan cy yourself a savant for calling atention to yourself, but. .. bah you’re just an idiot
He just can’t get away from the corps man lol!!
they are all his corps man lol!!
What a moron!!
ME ME ME I I I All about me !!
“it’s obvious from your vacuous response that you are more interested in name calling than actually considering what has been said and discussing it.”
Are you for real?
How can you possibly be such a liar and a hypocrite without feeling at least a bit of shame or guilt?
All the observant Christians I know have been horrified by Obama from virtually day one.
This man’s very recent “conversion” to, apparently, Christianity seems as phony to me—and the other observant Christians I know—as everything else about this poseur.
Relativism has really taken hold in Western societies: in the days when people understood the reality of this world—that there is good and evil, right and wrong—Obama’s lies and TRANSPARENT dissembling wouldn’t be so easily presented, by him and his henchpeople, as even a semblance of truth.
2 Timothy 4: 3-4
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, /and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.”
I do not believe that Obama is anything other than a “Christian” of convenience. Absolutely NOTHING in, what I consider, either his duplicitous words or his arrogant demeanour convinces me otherwise. In fact, if he is lying about his faith, which I believe he is, his actions are blasphemous.
Kyrie eleison/Lord have mercy/ on him and all of us.
BTW, faithful Christian Obama blew his Bible quote.
http://weaselzippers.us/2011/02/03/obama-botches-bible-verse-during-national-prayer-breakfast/
Jebus, people. Everyone’s rising like a big fat bass taking the troll’s bait. Just ignore it. Note how it has completely derailed the thread?
I remember reading that when bambam was a community organizer everyone would ask him which church he belonged to. He figured it would be a good move so he went to the Wright congregation. I never got the impression that religion was very high on the reasons. This is the guy that steamrolled a woman to get his first seat. Rahm style.
Stop trolling Colin. We’re trying to have a conversation here. We don;t need any of your leftist nonsense.
Mark
“”Quelle horreur” in English”?
‘Imitation Maple Syrup’.
Cheers
Speedy – well said and oh so true. The desire for and movement towards building a Utopia on earth is in itself evidence of the longing for heaven that is innate in each individual and is in fact an admission that the world & people are broken – that we have lost something we once had.
I am so thankful that we have a God who became flesh and dwelt among us, who partook in our suffering in order to set us free and give us the strength through his spirit to not only pray but to use the gifts he has given us so that his will be done on earth as it is in heaven where there is no pain and suffering – where the lion lays down with the lamb.
jay forbes – George Bush once said that believes in grace because he’s needed it. You seem incapable of understanding that Christianity is for sinners, not for those who don’t need that grace; perhaps you don’t?
If memory serves me correctly, he canceled the prayer breakfast last year, yet this year he televises it. I’m wondering who the pastor was that he met while community organizing that led him to Jesus Christ. I’m surprised he/she has not come forward to confirm his conversion or endorse his campaign.
Me thinks he has fooled more sheeple with that quit picking on my faith bit.
Time will tell with both Obama in 2012 and the MB gaining momentum and power in Egypt.
Nothing surprises me too much anymore.
World?
We are very sorry for inflicting Duh!1 one you…

Madman2001: “Really? Canadians are so rigourously [sic] secular that showing up at a prayer breakfast is a sin?”
Hey, if Chretien or Martin had shown up at one, no hay problema for the Canadian MSM. But if Prime Minister Harper were to, the Canadian MSM would crucify him. ‘Guess you’re not that tuned in, Madman2001.
Obambam needs all the credibility he can muster these days, now that he’s on the rise after his speech at his election rally … er, I mean, the Tuscon Memorial Service. As Jesus said, “Not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heavean.”
The Obamessiah is a fairly good wordsmith, if his teleprompter’s handy, so now he’s using the Christian vernacular to see who he can lure into his web. It’s all about numbers and head counts and has nothing to do with grace or humility. I agree with lookout: His Christian protestations are insincere and, as Joe says, are a “cover for his advancing Islam around the world.”
If Harper was Roman Catholic like Chretien and Martin, but still pro-choice, pro-criminal, pro-‘progressive’ policies, pro-gay-marriage etc., etc., etc., he’d get a pass from both the media and the Catholic Church no matter how many prayer meetings he attended. It’s when a politician actually lives and acts according to his beliefs that he gets trounced on by the media.
Everyone knows Obama’s just catering to the religioius half of America and doesn’t mean a word. Like Clinton and his Bible-carrying across the White House lawn. That’s why he gets a pass. He’s just paying lip-service to the religious yokels out there — a wearisome thing that ‘progressives’ have to do in America to get elected.
Despising the very people they govern over — that’s progressive pols for you. I just hate it when the ones who feel contempt for me get to make all the decisions about my life.
Obama just does not say what god.
He never quoted bible either.
No discerning Christian I know believes that Obama’s a committed Christian.
’Remember he said, about Muslims in the USA: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Interesting . . . because, as we all know, Muslims get a free pass in the USA, by virtually all its institutions—the government, military, its schools, courts, the MSM, etc.—while it’s CHRISTIANS who are given a hard time. Where’s “Christian” Obama on this one?
Taqiyya: “Taqiyya is a practice in Shia Islam whereby adherents may conceal their faith when they feel that they are under threat, persecution, or compulsion.” So, Obama would have no problem lying about this issue. As far as I’m concerned, he acts far more like a Muslim than a Christian. And, if he were a Christian, wouldn’t there be a fatwa against him for apostasy?
IMO, this man is a deceiver and is just playing an evil game here. Shame on him—and shame on the complacent, who are being led like sheep—to the slaughter.
Madman2001 said: “Really? Canadians are so rigourously secular that showing up at a prayer breakfast is a sin?”
Absolutely. Any mention of religion by politicians is severely frowned upon here in the Demented Dominion. People squirm uncomfortably if even the Lord’s Prayer is recited at a public function, they glower if a guy with a clerical collar is on the podium. Mention God and you are done like dinner.
Well, except Islam and Sikhism, they get tolerated with some minor grumbling, magnanimous liberals make allowances for the ignorant superstitions of brown people. Its just one of the small sacrifices everyone has to make in a multi-culti utopia. White people however are expected to know better, by George!
The only creed allowed to loudly proselytize in the public square these days is Atheism. It has been chosen by the cognoscenti (aka the cool kids) as the unofficial Official Creed of Canada, and has taken its place next to government paid health care on the plinth of holy Canadian Values(tm).
People who go to a Christian church on Sundays don’t talk about it in public, in the same way that gun owners don’t talk about shooting. Conversely, atheists bray their convictions loudly to anyone who isn’t actually running away with their hands clapped over their ears, and can’t really be made to shut up about it.
Its one of the major planks in the Hate America platform actually. Here in Canada the cool kids decided Christianity was uncool back in the 1970’s, and those d@mn Yankees have been ignoring them ever since. The one thing the cool kids can’t take is being ignored.
That’s one reason they all love Barry too. When Barry gets up and talks about God, they know he’s lyin’. The cool kids love it when people lie for them.
Ann @ 8:52 – Harper would not get a pass from the Catholic Church, he would get a pass from various liberal new-age Catholics who don’t want to leave the Church because of its teachings, but want to change it to fit their personal moral code (i.e. Zero). Those and various priests, bishops and nuns who are trying to undermine Church teachings. God knows there are enough liberal churches out there that they could convert to.
