This story from a couple of days ago reaffirms the Liberal flair for focusing on the truly important ethical issues of our time:
Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis (Scarborough-Agincourt, Ont.) was so offended by one of the (Conservatives’) ads, which he said unethically used Mr. Harper’s office on Parliament Hill as a backdrop to pitch the record of his government in partisan fashion, that he lodged a complaint with federal Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson.
Karygiannis fumed “I think it’s up to every Member of Parliament to write to Mary Dawson and say ‘I think this is unethical,'” before adding, somewhat nonsensically –
“We don’t live in a third world country where everybody controls the media. This is a democracy and as such if you want to be democratic about it and you want to promote that you’re a good guy and you’re a good prime minister, well, have him working there at the Conservative offices.”
Rumour has it that the Liberals’ upcoming ads will show them hard at work texting CBC reporters from restaurant tables.

I saw the ad and, too be sure, I couldn’t tell Mr. Harper’s office on Parliament Hill from the famous etching of the Prime Minister’s office on the back of the $300 bill.
If anybody has a gripe it oughta be the surviving Beatles for having a coffee mug with their old Band name on it in the ad.
Why the need to text CBC reporters when they, serving as your de facto PR agents, are sitting at the same table?!
So, Karygi-annis is outraged! Outraged! I tell ya… so is the CBC and pretty much every other MSM “Liberal” mouthpiece… nothing is more important to the media and the Libs than whining about some political “attack” ads that simply, and effectively frame a narrative that contradicts their own. The MSM and other “Liberals”, Karygi-annis, feel entitled to sell their own narrative and agenda, without the nuisance of opposition.
I heard the Liberals will brown bag it when it comes to Ad costs.

I hope Canadians can see through these bullying tactics that haven’t abated in five years. The Prime Minister and his Party, despite all of the good they’re doing for Canadians — and that’s all Canadians, not just their friends and cronies — have been unmercifully hounded and hectored by the Librano$ and their henchmen in the media ever since they took office. It’s a disgusting spectacle, and if the Liberal$ knew what was good for them, someone in their Party would put a stop to this garbage. The Liberal leader also questioned how the Tories can continue to accuse him of plotting an opposition coalition to take power, saying he has stated on the record he wants to form a Liberal government.

Funny how the CBC attempts to dispel rumours of a coalition in the works, attempting to do this by constantly reinforcing Iggy’s claims to the contrary with Solomon and Barton among others getting combative with Conservatives every time that claim is made by them. He said “No” so the claims have no merit, in the CBC’s view and the Tories should cease and desist. But they’ll play the “hidden agenda” card on Harper for the Liberals, continuing to use it in spite of the PM’s assurance that there isn’t one.
CBC accepts the answer of one leader but not the other, without explaining why they hold each to a different standard of trust.
If that doesn’t cement the CBC’s hypocritical bias and favouritism towards the Liberals, I don’t know what does.

Listening to The House on the CBC. That was a question to Kady O’Malley. She went through the rules and in the end no one has done it before so there is no rule. The rules made my head spin.
Iggy was on the early segment and they did not give him a free ride. I could hear frustration in his voice at points. Did you know our deficit? He relates about that numerous times.

So we should shut down the CBC, lest the broadcaster (a national property) be used for partisan purposes.
Thank goodness Jack Layton probably doesn’t read SDA, but I would wager that the NDP could double their support in the polls if the NDP would just issue a bunch of non-attack ads right now, just something where Jack says “look, this is what the NDP stands for, either ya like it and vote for it, or ya hate it and don’t.”
These attack ads basically suck. Nobody likes them, and they bore people with irrelevant nonsense that has nothing to do with issues of the day. Moreover, they just promise more of the same, a fixation on name-calling that the average voter figures must cut into the working day of his elected representatives — people who are huddled in offices talking about what nasty things they can say next about their opponents can hardly be working on the national debt or finding an “answer” to climate change, now, can they?
Of course it would be nice to have an attack ad on climate change, but that would require that the average I.Q. of the Canadian voter be raised to three figures, something that generations of inbreeding has rendered impossible, so we pretend there is climate change and then pretend to be doing something about it. Then it gets way colder and the joke’s on us, because the gas gets more expensive as the weather gets colder. And still, we expect the average voter to be more concerned that Michael Ignatieff missed the Chretien years than that we’ve wasted a hundred trillion bucks on windmills that don’t turn.

Still no complaint from the Liberal Party on the intimidation tactics of the Iranian embassy this week at Library and Archives Canada. But that was back in the days when some Liberals still had “cojones” and actually stood up to dictators from time to time.

I suspect that is why there are never enough liberals in the house to defeat the conservatives. They have to pool their bus money and some days there just isn’t enough for everyone.
