  1. Something really strange is happening to my computer when I attempt to access the NYTR article on this story.
    Anyone else experiencing this? Its not happening on any other link from the SDA site – at least not for me.

  4. Works for me dbob. I think Olby made like 7 million a year. Now that is scary. Maybe that’s why he hates Palin. He gots hisself a DEgree from an Ag Colledge and she done have nothin’ and she can pick up 12 million in 9 months.

  10. An American friend of mine assures me that his sudden departure is directly linked to this. I have no proof that this is so but it certainly is an interesting theory.
    If in the next few months we see Chris Matthews either leave the network or dramatically change his tune/tone then there’s likely much credence to what my friend said.

    Olbermann probably had a bump in viewership because people knew it would be the last show. Nonetheless, we’re talking about a country of over 300 million people here. That means that typically no more than 1 in 300 people ever watches any of the MSNBC or CNN “news” shows.
    Kind of gives me hope for humanity.

    On a similar note, what about his old boss getting a new job by executive order of POTUS?
    At first I thought, maybe BO is finally getting it – hiring someone who has actually worked for a living. Then I realized it’s just a patronage appointment for the CEO of his biggest PR department: NBC. I guess GE wasn’t happy just getting billions from TARP unnecessarily. Their head honcho also wanted a govt job.

    And for all his “smarts,” that’s what Olbermann did. $30 million is still _somebody else’s_ $30 million.
    Meanwhile, Beck just hired 43 new employees at his company, Mercury, including an ex-Huff Po big wig.
    They’re heavily branding “Mercury” instead of “Glenn Beck”, dropping the name of the company on air whenever they can, and in press releases.
    Beck may be a recovering alcoholic who dropped out of college, but he’s also a Mormon (convert). That is: He’s surrounded by business savvy friends he can trust.
    Howard Hughes didn’t let Mormons run his empire for nothing.
    While Olbermann was mouthing off, cashing his checks and going home to sleep/drink, Beck was building a stable family, a network of powerful friends, and an empire. If he gets fired from Fox and radio tomorrow, he owns the massive foundation in place to relaunch himself literally the next day and take 10 million loyal fans with him in a podcast he could have up and running in hours.
    Adam Carolla did the same thing after he got fired. Another guy who barely finished high school. Now he owns a Lamborghini (to name a few).
    Another example of liberal “smarts” vs conservative “smarts”, eh?

    With all the truly “bad” people in the world, one would have to think Olbermann has a rather narrow focus. If he wanted to do a public service,why didn’t he publicize some of the “bad” people who do so much harm?
    Oh,right,because so many of them are members of the Obama administration.

    Wanted: Political commenter. Must be miserable loner type who has trouble with girl friends. A pathological hatred for conservative values will be helpful. The candidate may be devoid of ideas as we are a left-leaning organization. All talking points provided by the NYT and the Huffington Post. Salary in the double digits. We have no money and our audience is shrinking. However, your prospects are no better than ours. Call (201)-IMA-DICK for an appointment Keith.

  26. Between just us news junkies, I think Keith’s schtick of channeling Eddy R Murrow was running a bit thin and had become boring. Numbers were dropping even as his Murrow-esque invective intensified against the evils of tea party America.
    Bye Keith, don’t let the door slap you on the butt on the way out. Maybe CBS can use a scolding Murrow impersonator.

  27. Those ratings really tell a story of the players. Having seen the ratings before, its a no-brainer that FOX is on top, and that spells revenue.
    The one that still gets me is how far CNN has fallen into the gutter. Anderson Cooper? At one time, they were the originator, the leader of the pack, then they changed format, and weeded out those that viewers tuned in to watch and listen to. Ted Turner made a stupid (!) choice to have a network that reflected his own twisted leftard vision of the world, vs sound business decisions.
    This is what Comcast has done by ditching OlberPIG. A sound business decision. What a wretch that ratbastard is. He should have been his own ‘World’s worst’ every week…..

  30. I have no idea who obiwanman is or even looks like as I blocked MSNBC long time ago. Quite apart from the talking heads though I would like to find out about the connections between GE, its media arm and the Oblamebush political machine. I smell the decaying flesh of a dead rat there.

Obama talked about nonpartisanship but would can unite the USA like Keith! All he needs is the right, sorry, correct running mate and it is on to Washington in 2012!

Even taking his words out of context, your argument of Glen Beck stirring up them thar conservaive types into a killing frenzy is pretty pathetic. As for Fox-Piven’s views; as Beck would say”Don’t take my word for it, do the research yourself.”
