HarperHitler

A beaver gallops off into terminal paranoia, if not more:

Why don’t we just sew a swastika onto the flag now?

My comment (the first):

“Harper is proceeding on an incremental program of power and control which is little different than what happened in Germany in the 1930s…
…German voters consistently denied Hitler a democratic majority. While leading a minority government he grabbed power in places which the average German thought inconsequential. They allowed him to nibble away at the prerogatives of the head of state until the head of state was folded into the same office as the head of government.
Think Harper isn’t attempting the same thing? The evidence says otherwise.”
Holy Godwin, Batboy! Just don’t get all shirty when your toxic discourse gets the blame after some prominent Conservative is assassinated (regardless of realities).

Predate:

Who’s toxic now?
John Robson of the Ottawa Citizen (a true conservative, that rare breed in Canadian journalism) answers the question…

  1. I dunno, can’t see Hitler playing the piano to Jumpin’ Jack Flash….dancing in the musical Annie maybe.

“Nuanced” — a rather gracious way of putting it. “Deceptive” may be more accurate. Such as, the slow but systemic elimination of free speech, independent media, religious freedom, freedom of thought etc. until it reaches the tipping point.

  3. You know..for all the conservative bravado here, and do not get me wrong, I am socially and fiscally a conservative. There is however, plenty of evidence to support suggestions that Harper is indeed doing a great many things that I find tyranical: Lets look at Bill S-10 shall we..?? Why is a Govt sponsered bill rammed through the Seante first..?? (No Need to justify or account for cost is why),then sent to the house. You all might want to read the lovely pce of legislation that will turn your average teenager into a “serious criminal” for the dastardly crime of smoking a joint. Can anyone say DEA. Harper is also in favour of a Prisons for Profit. Is that something you want to see here in Canada..?? Gee, interesting legislation, make all teens criminals for growing a plant in their closet or smoking a joint (remember, these sentences will be mandatory), and then sell these “crimianls” all to the Private Prisons. heck of a plan. All paid for by who.?? yep, our kids.
You all should take a good objective look at how the Prison system, the Police like state in the US and the coercive power of the DEA combine to make the US the country with the highest prison population on the planet.! Ask yourself if that is what you want here.
Harper is beginning to concern me this type of legislation as well as the way it is being rammed through.
As an aside, comments that he is trying to reduce government is pûre Bovine Excrement. He is no fiscal conservative and his govenment has increased spending (for nadda.!), & grown faster than at anytime during the recent libs tenure.
yea im still conservative at heart…just not blinded to BS.
