This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Acts of cruelty to animals are not mere indications of a minor personality flaw in the abuser; they are symptomatic of a deep mental disturbance. Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty to animals don’t stop there—many of them move on to their fellow humans.
The co-founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Ingrid E. Newkirk “Obama’s a sports guy, Vick’s a sports guy, and comebacks and redemption can happen.”

  1. It never ceases to amaze me how liberals will twist and bend in order to protect their own. There are countless examples of this phenomenon….

  2. and all those holier than thou vegans who dine on sprouts . . you know, the aborted fetus of the bean plant. Hmmmmmmmmmm good.
Now that’s indicative of mental disorder.

  3. Intellectual pretzel making sure seems common on the left. Giving Michael Vick a pass while declaring Obama a sports guy takes it to another level.

  4. Naw, Michael Vick is the guy who gives passes.
And, didn’t you hear about Obama getting a fat lip playing basketball or playing golf in Hawaii?

  5. Obviously the handlers screwed up and let the big zero speak without TOTUS. Little wonder that the folks over at HotAir.com are having a tough time narrowing down the field for the “Obamateurism of the Year”. Too much to choose from. In truth he makes Biden sound almost presidential. (almost is underlined, eh)

  6. actually, Obama’s played a lot of basketball. I haven’t read his books, nor actually touched them, however I’ve read others talking of his on court ability,
He looks perfectly at home shooting hoops, it’s just those mom jeans while riding a bike, that awesome throw from the pitcher’s mound that almost made it to home plate, that “all over the map” body english while on the putting green that’s giving him a bad sports name.
If I were Michael Vick, I doubt I’d have taken the President’s call. Vick has served his time, if he returns to his ways with animals, all bets are off. In the meantime, he continues to be beat up on the football field with late hits while anyone looking at Mr. Manning draws a flag.
Here’s the hoops shots starting at about 40 seconds.

Still, a fair call on the juxtaposition. And PETA’s (silent) stand on animals slaughtered by islamic / halal rules is another example. I’m not happy at all regarding Loblaws sourcing of its chicken from halal type processors. Nor all the Christian oriented books from their reading aisle a few years ago…

This brings back memories of our next door neighbor girls who took their cat by the tail and swung him around to throw him in their swimming pool. I can’t remember if the cat made it alive. I do know the little girl is now an obstetrician.

  8. My family and I have just been discussion how powerfully effective the new Humane Society and ASPCA ads are. They show pathetic creatures with sad eyes begging for sympathy (and donations).
Obviously, anyone with a video camera could capture an equally sad picture of their cherished and well-treated family pet given enough time.
Propaganda, appeals to pathos, and greed disguised as compassion know no bounds.

  9. Vick is an A-hole,but he did his time and does deserve a second chance. No,he earned his second chance, and took a bigger beating than any unknown Joe Blow would ever have taken.

Those who say he should not be allowed to play pro sports are being vindictive. The man is a football player. That is his livelihood. It would be wrong to take this away from him.

Almost everybody deserves a second chance. Almost nobody gets a call from the POTUS after they excel at post-imprisonment employment.
When do you suppose Obama will be calling the Pittsburgh Steelers to congratulate them on the apparent rehabilitation of Ben Roethlisberger?
Vick can do whatever the market will bear. Obama can’t help but bare in which he markets.

You are entitled to your opinion…I will never fault anyone for expressing their views, regardless of how much I may disagree.
We are, after all, living in a sort of democracy.
But being a pretty tough guy myself, and the owner of a string of golden retrievers, Vick, in the unlikely chance he ever showed up on my property, would leave in a state similar to that horrible photo posted of the dog after the dog fight.
Take that one to the bank…

  12. nv53, you don’t know what you have been missing. Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has been posting the Obamateurism of the Day since Mar 21 09.
