  9. Somebody mentioned in the Top Gear link yesterday about Muslims being upset that Richard and Jeremy dressed in Niqabs/Burkas in the latest episode of Top Gear. Strangely, there’s no mention of the fact that Jeremy Clarkson referred to himself as Jesus Christ (same initials, J.C.), pretended to walk on water, mocked the fish and loaves miracle, and then at the end of the show, instead of the baby Jesus in the manger, it was a tiny version of the Stig (the show’s anonymous stunt driver).
    And yet, it’s Muslims who are upset over two of the hosts putting on a couple of black robes???

  12. Stupid elephants. Think of the liability for them if anything had gone wrong during their inept so-called rescue.
    They should simply have dialled 911, then stood around saying how concerned they were. Always best to leave this sort of thing to the professionals, no matter how long it takes them to arrive.

  14. EBD – whistling tailpipes – Why? why? – Well just look at what is having them installed? This is what passes as culture nowadays. We had baby moons and thrush mufflers, but we could explain (in English) why we liked them, even if our parents didn’t understand.

The panicked baby rescue was even more dramatic when you realize that elephants would normally refuse to step down into areas where they cannot touch and evaluate the bottom with their trunks before committing themselves. Getting into the water with the baby to help calm and redirect it was the key.

Not that long ago, New Zealand’s official department of global warming and temperature data manipulation put out a graph of NZ’s temperatures over the last century which showed unprecedented warming recently. It didn’t take long before some enterprising individuals took the raw temperature data and found that the only warming present in NZ over the last 40 years was the “adjustments” to the data. Similar things were found in other areas that have experienced unprecedented increases in the values of temperature records.
    Well, it appears that in NZ the raw data has won out and the warmistas are conceding there hasn’t been any warming aside from that added to the raw data
    I’m wondering whether or not I can still use this mathematical technique before it gets fully discredited; my bank account balance could use a couple of zero’s at the end.

    What the hell happened. Looking at the comments on this thread, it appears that we are collectively commenting on two or three entirely different topics.
    Not a biggie…I still love elephants.
    (Bruce – it’s EBD here – I can tell you’re new here, so I just want to explain that the Reader Tips comments thread is a place for SDA readers to post links/tips to anything they think might be of interest to others. The videos I post each night aren’t the topic, they’re just amusements to start off the thread.)

    Funny though, Cali as a paradox…….
    News item yesterday, Disneyland, and its neighbouring California Adventure park, were at capacity and turning people away yesterday…….recession, what recession?
    Or are BamBam’s policies funding free tix to Fantasy land?
    To the link you provided….Our last trip there a couple years ago, revealed much of what was said, trips to the aforementioned parks, plus Universal, put us in a distinct minority in these parks, not much English spoken here….
    California is quickly becoming a vast welfare state, run by rich elites, ruling the poverty class. Hope it goes broke quickly, but BamBam needs to stop funding them…….California is so broke, they are now borrowing, not from banks, but from the feds, who are broke themselves……

    Apparently we are to be without Thomas Freidman’s mind boggling intellect for about four months. It’s even money on Twitter as to wether the Chinese have called him back for consultation or he is painting his tiny little shack.

  31. Did anybody catch the big Disney Christmas day parade on CBC? It wasn’t even a parade. It was just a 2 hour long infomercial for Disney products disguised as a parade. After every disney character that passed by in this so called “parade”, Ryan Seacrest would tell when that characters new movie or dvd was coming out. Then they would cut away to showing a new Disney resort you can visit or a singer who ( I believe) all happen to belong to a record label owned by Disney. Disgusting!, and why was this on our government owned national broadcaster on Christmas day? Must be dirty deals going on between CBC and Disney to sell out like that. What do you know, Pirates of the Caribbean was on CBC the next night. This needs to be looked into.

  34. Dan, I have little doubt that Disneyland, Universal Studios, et al will keep on attracting millions of tourists every year. God Bless ‘Em and God Bless all such entrepreneurial activities!
    BUT there are simply too many groups now taking more out of the trough than they’re contributing back. The most prominent of these are:
    1. Public sector employees – too many and too highly paid.
    2. Welfare recipients – I heard that 32% of all welfare recipients in America live in California, even though the state only represents 12% of the nation’s population.
    3. Illegal immigrants – While they do work for sub-par wages, they also consume vast resources in terms of health care and education.
    So the proverbial trough is now technically bankrupt. Fully expect in 2011 for California to be seeking a bailout for the federal government. Mark Steyn has predicted that if this happens, there’ll be a civil war in the U.S.

  35. I have a solution that will make everybody happy! Instead of a bailout from the feds, give California to Mexico. It’s more or less what La Raza claims to want, independant cinema will have a chance to flourish and nobody will need to sneak into Arizona anymore.
    And if Quebec doesn’t start acting nice we could throw them in too. Freedom from Anglo oppression and all that. I’ll miss Montreal but I won’t miss LAX. Adios, mes amis!
