Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Very funny! Here in Calgary we rely on Global Warming’s second cousin twice removed, Chinook, for residential snow removal.
Hm, I thought all the chinooks were in Afghanistan.
That could explain this recent cold snap.
Sure, but next thing you know Global Warming will decide to unionize – no removal on stats, numerous sick days, stress leave, outrageous pension and health benefits…
@sycrodox, the two are not related. Chinook is part of the non-fiction family, while global warming is pure fiction.
For snow removal, here we use the “Saskatchewan Time Change Strategy” and simply ignore the fact that the snow should be removed. Like good Saskatchewan’ers and time change, if we just ignore it, all will be well in 6 months. Until the next time.

“Thing Of The Past : Europe Snow Forecast
Posted on November 24, 2010 by stevengoddard
I don’t think I have ever seen a forecast like this before. Heavy snow across almost all of Europe, including half of Spain and Portugal. The UK and France are expected to be nearly covered from one end to the other.”

Having spent many years living in Regina, I can attest to the accuracy of “Saskabush’s” report from the frontier. Good luck there, sport.
Saskabush REALLY needs to post more often!!
Snowing again today in Vancouver — the plow will be working again tonight. I am pretty sure we have only one.
This reminds me of the Saskatchewan Government green website ad I saw on CTV news site. Take a look and you will see that the Sask Party has drunk way too much of Al Gore and David Suzuki’s Kool-aid.

Howie, good point.
I heard that Calgary does the same thing wrt to residential streets……
How does that work in a country where it snows 5 to 7 months out of the year?
Here in Halifax we have about 400,000 people and 160,000 residential structures. Every road is supposed to be plowed within 24 hours of the end of the snow falling. Now that doesn’t always work in an extra heavy snow fall, but the vast majority of the time it does. I cannot even begin to imagine the chaos that would be our residential streets if they were not plowed.
Snow removal is the worst in the cities. Sask’s towns manage just fine. Even in rural areas the roads are cleared in 24 hours on a school bus route and soon after on other roads. There are some benefits in having a council that doesn’t attempt to save the world instead of clean the streets.
So they’ve taken the contract away from Mr. Melt that usually starts in late April?
A related item comparing Saskatoon’s snowfall budget with other Canadian cities found while Googling around for city snowfall comparisons.

You guys are talking snow?
How could you have missed the other breaking news headline at Saskabush –
“Tiger Woods has Sex with Sarah Palin on Melting, Penis-shaped Ice Burg”
Now there’s an eye popping story!
heh, heh
Hmmm. Considering that I’m flying to Saskatoon this Sunday for a week of fun in the sun, I hope there’s not much snow and a whole lot of that Global Warming dude.
Lived in Moose Jaw for 15 years then moved to Vancouver.
Big difference then but apparently not any more.
Looking forward to 19 day Panama canal cruise soon – which ends in Vancouver.
Hopefully the tulips and crocuses will be up.
Oh the humanity!
Best Canadian joke of the year….
An American couple, standing in a Florida airport terminal waiting for their luggage,
notice an oddly and somewhat heavily dressed man also waiting for his luggage.
The wife asks her husband, “Where do you thinks that man is from?”.
The husband says he doesn’t know but decides to ask the man.
He approaches him and asks, “Where are you from?”
“Saskatoon, Saskatchewan” the man replies.
Puzzled, the husband returns to his wife.
“Well, where is he from?” she asks.
“I don’t know” replies the husband.
“He doesn’t speak English.”
