Tremble, all ye who doubt me…
Some top advisors to the President are advising cutting off funding for solar and wind farm construction projects, whereas other advisors warn that pulling money from the program could antagonize powerful allies in Congress and signal failure.

More! French give the boot to the “Super Ministry of Environment”

Ya know, I’ve got an even better idea, just cut off funding for the president … any chance of keeping him out of the country until Nov 2012?
“The memorandum also questions the project’s environmental benefits, saying carbon dioxide emissions “would have to be valued at nearly $130 per ton for CO2 for the climate benefits to equal the subsidies (more than six times the primary estimate used by the government in evaluating rules).””
IIRC carbon was valued at $0.05 last time I checked, so they’re saying it would have to be 2,600 times costlier.
And now I think carbon on the CCX is at $0.00 . . .
What a hoot, in the note they say they will be profitable with 65% SUBSIDY!!!
I would regard that kind of subsidy as EXPERIMENTAL ENERGRY extraction; but hardly ready for prime time 24/7 grid supplies.
Cheers

In other words, none of them are -for- the greenie crap, they just don’t want to torque off their fellow Dems on the take, and they don’t want to look bad.
That about cover it?
Come on greenies, defend your guy!
For any government looking to save money, scrapping alternative energy subsidies should be in the top 10 list of unnecessary expenses (if not at the top of the list). First these subsidies rob the taxpayers and then, later, the consumers. They also drain the government of the ability to build reliable, affordable power generation or invest in real conservation.
I have yet to read a rational economic or environmental case that supports the continuation of wind and solar subsidies. Every European country that attempted to lead their country into the green energy market via wind and solar subsidies has failed.
Preaching to the choir, of course, but government seems to plod ahead with these taxpayer funded schemes while ignoring the overwhelming evidence of their disastrous consequences.
The good thing about recessions is it forces liberals to admit their ideas are flawed. It had been so long since the last one, they had forgotten their place. All the 20 somethings had yet to experience one, so they had no idea. They believed Obama was smarter because he was a better public speaker.
Remember all you kids, that Obama is the one you have been waiting for, he is the cure for the planet and the reason you have no job. Now go set the table for dinner, your father will be home soon.
Somebody please tell McGuinty.
“Somebody please tell McGuinty.”
McGuinty’s not interested in facts, he’s a Liberal.
For some IT reason, your link isn’t working now (?), Kate, but the one at Instapundit is (at least in Firefox):

Signal failure???
It should be screaming failure from the roof tops.
“Somebody please tell McGuinty.”
You need a time machine for that, he’s stuck in the 90’s
I listened to Charles Adler this afternoon. He said SDA was the top conservative blog on the planet. I wish wind energy would have stayed in the hands of private investors and not politicized by the loony leftists.
Don’t be fooled, Obama will use every tool to push the AGW scam for every second he is in the Oval Office. This retreat is for show, as he slowly advances on other fronts, particularly regulatory. His liberal masters demand it; he will only abandon it, when he is told to do so by them. So, until that BlackBerry rings, expect AGW as the policy of this admin.
Ahnald get the memo?

“Schwarzenegger pushes new greenhouse gas initiative
Sacramento Bee ^ | 11/15/10 | Rick Daysog
Encouraged by what Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called clean energy’s “greatest referendum in history,” California officials are pushing ahead with a new greenhouse gas accord with developing foreign countries.
Schwarzenegger today launched the third Governors’ Global Climate summit at the University of California, Davis, saying this month’s landslide defeat of Proposition 23, an oil industry backed initiative to roll back the state’s landmark climate change law, shows broad support among voters for climate change initiatives.
“I hope that our success encourages you to fight and keep fighting and fighting because science is on our side, the economics is on our side and the people are on our side,” he said.

“SmithL
This is coming from an a%^&ole who rides to work exclusively in Chevy Tahoes and private jets while his wife parks her Cadillac Escalade in the no parking zone.
Seriously, I do think the roids affected his brain. He does not look healthy.”
California is soon going to vanish up its own a$$hole… taking a fair chunk of the worst morons with it hehehehe
Steve, the biggest pushers of wind and solar subsidies are some of the biggest corporations on the planet, specifically GE and Samsung, respectively. And no one has lobbied harder for banning incandescent light-bulbs than GE.
Yes, the greens are idiots about energy, but they are also dupes for some serious big business. It’s all about pushing product in the case of light-bulbs. How many times have the music companies made you buy the same piece of music over the last 40 years? About six. Well, GE just wants to get paid for replacing all the lighting in North Am. whether it needs it or not. The two sides work hand in hand. You buy your hideously expensive electricity from GE-made windmills, but it doesn’t seem so bad because your lighting comes from your new energy efficient, hideously expensive CFs.

“French give the boot to the “Super Ministry of Environment””
“From Pierre Gosselins “No Tricks Zone”, some encouraging news; the French have surrendered to common sense.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has pulled the plug on the French prestige project, a super ministry of environment, dubbed “Medad” (Ministère du Développement durable). This piece of good news is brought to us by German warmist website klimaretter.de here in a piece written by Susanne Götze in Paris.”

How about solar powered wind turbines that run on carbon dioxide?
No?
Oh well, back to the drawing board, I’ll come up with this green economy yet, I tells ya.
Well…. just received in today’s mail from Viterra- (you know, Sask Wheat Pool before steroids) a circular: Saskatchewan Carbon Credit Program Update.
Seems they’re (Viterra) on the ground floor of just one more scheme to capitalize (rip off) on this greenist enthrallment of saving the environment.
To wit- (quote):
Although the Ministry of Environment is planning to fast-track the development of offset system protocols, with tillage system management at the top of the list, several key matters that may impact the commercialization of a functioning offset market may take longer to establish. This includes issues such as the interplay and details between emitters being able to purchase compliance through a technology fund as opposed to offsets, as well as the initial size of the market to be regulated (i.e., the demand for offsets) versus the large supply given Saskatchewan’s available agricultural and non-agricultural offsets.
Well, I’m certainly pleased that was clarified, wtf?
Snake oil meet carbon credits.
They Still Don’t Get It!! or maybe they do….
OTOH, my Freedom 55?? Nah, gotta be a catch!
PS- for you smokers, being not one myself, I’m open to offers to avail of my respiatory system. Serious offers only. No trivializing please.
ZOMG! Cracks of sanity! If the greenies aren’t careful, the dam of denial will burst, and a whole flood of common sense will wash all their windmills away.
“The good thing about recessions is it forces liberals to admit their ideas are flawed.”
Sorry, but nope! ‘Progressive liberals’ (ie marxists) never ever ever admit that their ideas are flawed. When a recession comes along, that is only “further” evidence of not enough statist initiative and control and laws and a lack of money being dedicated to the cause.
Excuse me while I go puke. Just writing about it makes me queasy.
