  1. I can’t believe Sarah Palin just let that girl drown when she quit the governorship like that.

  2. He thinks Pelosi is the most effective speaker he’s ever seen? He can’t understand why she became the lightening rod during the election? Palin’s quitting midterm is the equivalent to Kennedy’s Chappaquiddick? Could he get anymore blatant as to where his support lies? Outrageous.

  3. If you have the opportunity to watch the PBS NEWSHOUR on Friday afternoons you can see Shields along with David Brooks being hosted by Jim Lehrer. Usually it’s well-balanced reporting and commentary.

  4. Ah, yes… if you are a democrat all manner of ills can be forgotten. Drownings, cross burnings, anything. You just gotta be a democrat.
Pelosi was and is a disaster and they know it. She just wants her plane back.

  5. “[Chappaquiddick] was not a problem among Democrats…”
Need you know more about Democrats?

  6. I wish to apologize for the remark I made in 2009 on the Ted Kennedy thread, where I said,”good bloody riddance”,in reference to Mr.Kennedy’s passing.
I should have said,”good riddance”,the “bloody” was superfluous.
Pelosi was the best Speaker ever?!The gentleman’s bias is astonishing.

  7. I couldn’t quite understand why this video was up; had to watch it a couple of times. Then it hit me – there’s no ‘Comedy Channel’ watermark in the lower right-hand corner!

  8. I think he meant that Palin quitting was going to forever make her not a possible president, just as Ted Kennedy destroyed his future chances by letting the Mary Jo drown. Still a pretty crappy thing to say.
If Palin can get people to understand why she quit, then she is a fine contender for office. The free lawsuits law still remains in Alaska as far as I know, and should be scrapped because it will only cause more trouble in the future. What a waste.

  9. There was a time when we’d have put people like that in institutions. Now they get positions of influence and “respect.”

  10. I won’t watch these two anymore on PBS. It is not balanced at all. The liberal mouth goes on and on spewing his Democrat puke and Brooks only gets nominal time to give some common sense remarks. What else could one expect from CBC South….

[……I can only hope and pray that I don’t know any of you, nor ever meet any of you outside of the internet…….]
Sounds like a wise policy to me…..

  12. As for Teddy,
What if he had been driving a Volkswagon? (h/t National Lampoon)
Chappaquiddick cost Teddy the nomination. I doubt very much Mrs. Palin’s resignation will do the same if she chose to run (which I don’t think she will).

  13. Delusional
Pelosi should run for speaker in Egypt, they like pyramid schemes.
They also have a river known as De Nile!

  14. This is the same sort of dressed up propaganda that Canadian views have been exposed to on CBC and CTV if these channels are all they have access to.

  15. Thanks for confirming my suspicions about the talking heads at PBS. Every once in a while I get the urge to see what is on PBS but then I watch FOX until the urge goes away. When I think back on it I don’t think I’ve watched PBS since W F Buckley stopped hosting.

  16. Pelosi was effective like Hugo Chavez is effective.
They get their way but the country is slowly destroyed in the process.

  17. Mike at 5:57 I appreciate your comment. However Mark Shields has been spinning for the Liberocrats for most of my five decades as an adult. Decades ago there was an attempt during the McNeil Leher era to present bothsides.Shields was usually the Chairperson and played off against the most affable of conservative prognosticators. If he can, he will retreat to a less liberal perspective, but IMHO think he, like me, is too long in the tooth to change very much. Cheers;

  18. I used to like Mark Shields, but he’s really drunk long and deep from the loony, left-lib Kool-Aid and is now staggering and jabbering incoherently. They’ve teamed him up with David Brooks on the Lehrer News Hour and, as someone else has mentioned, Brooks only gets to clean up the spills. What a waste.
Mark Shields is an institution in his own mind, which never leads to any good.

  19. Nancy pelosi is stupid enough to qualify for NDP leadership, and that’s saying something.
This doofus is not far behind her.

  20. I was about to click on the vid but thought I’d read the comments first. Thank heavens I did. Dinner was only 10 minutes a-go and I’m sure my stomach isn’t settled enough to listen to that swill.

  21. I think a lot of folks are missing the point.
When Teddy was alive the MSM studiously avoided any reference to Chappaquiddick. Now that he’s dead they use the reference to excoriate Palin.

  22. Syncro: “Now that he’s dead they use the reference to excoriate Palin.”
Yes, but the comparison makes no sense other than to show how sick their minds are.

  23. Ya gotta wonder about Obama when he uses the ‘economy is a car in the ditch’ metaphor.
One would think the Democrats would steer clear of automotive metaphors after Chappaquiddick.

  24. Mark Shields looks old and about retirement age so he’ll soon have to get hammered out of his gourd and kill a young intern hotty that he’s trying to bang behind his wife’s back and then cover up his involvement or… quit his job.
