  1. My God it takes a lot to get the MSM to wake up.
I’m betting this election on Nov. 2 was as much about the MSM as it was about the two traditional parties. I think the same can be said of the Toronto election.

  2. “The network denies that this has anything to do with Mr Olbermann’s minimal to non-existent viewership”.
Hey, maybe like Juan Williams, he’ll end up on
    Fox!

  3. However, the network announced, pimping for Democrats on air is still eminently acceptable.

  4. Whether we like Ober what’s his face or not, I find it troubling that someone can be suspended from his employment for making a donation. I may not like his preference for a protectionist / socialist American political party, but like it or not – America is supposed to be a free country. That would / should / must include freedom of association. Not disclosing his partisanship, yeah a problem, donating – hmmm that axe can be swung both ways.

  5. I watch MSNBC during FOXnews commercials. I must say that KO is the most pompous person I can think of. I personally don’t care what KO does or what happens to him, in my view, MSNBC and CNN have long ago shed any semblance of impartiality.

  6. I don’t care about the impartiality. It’s the stupidity and the ugliness in his commentary that should have got him fired long ago.

  7. Olbermann has been peering over the rim of the lame stream media’s crater for the past 2 years.
What with his low brow schtick of channeling Ed Murrow while spewing some clownish tirade against middle America, his Che Guevarra tie tack glistening intermittantly in the camera lights, a phantom rendition of ‘send in the clowns’ playing through my subconscious as I watch this mass media Pagliacci. A more cartoonish talking head does not exist. I was gob smacked to learn of his salary and contract term.
Oh well, The wasteland of cable news is a little less wasted today.

  8. That election just keeps getting better and better.

Yes it is, and if I am may steal a quote from the Honeymooners Jackie Gleason’s character, Ralph Kramden; How Sweet it is !!!!

  9. I’m gonna watch Beck & O’Reilly today . . . sure to be some pithy comments & observations 🙂

  10. Why fire him? We know he’s a lib, I assumed that they all made contributions to the dems, anyways. I guess MSNBC didn’t want their image of impartiality damaged :0

  11. the bear, he technically was not suspended for the donation. His freedom to make a political donation has not been impinged in any way — he was, in fact, able to make the donations. This action, however, broke the ethical policies of his employer, policies which he presumably agreed to, in writing, within the terms of his employment contract.
Simple contract matter, really. Choices sometimes come with consequences, and Olbermann is probably understanding that better than most right now.
What I find shocking is that MSNBC actually exercised its contractual rights to suspend Olbermann in wake of the ethical breach.

  12. Heh – about time. I agree that his political contributions have to be his private business and not the reason for ‘firing’, but I suspect that the station used it as a pretext to get rid of him for his verbal abuse of people on air.
Meanwhile, Pelosi is running again for leadership of the party in the House. That’s a mistake. It effectively means that the Old Guard, the radical socialists, are maintaining control of the Democratic Party. This prevents new blood from regenerating the party.
The ‘time-out’ phase for the GOP was absolutely vital, with the old Washington set losing power and coherence. That, plus the emergence of the voice of the People, via both the Tea Party and Sarah Palin (who speaks for The American People not for the GOP Party)…enabled the GOP to regenerate and revitalize itself with new people. People who insisted on an adherence to the fundamental principles of the US – not to the aberration that had emerged in Washington.
Now, in the GOP, there are people like Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Eric Cantor etc..all speaking for the basic foundational principles of the free USA – not for the big govt of Washington. Now, they must develop policies within these principles.
The Democrats have nothing and no-one like this, and the rigid control of the Party by the Democratic Radical Socialist Gang will continue to prevent any new voices from emerging. They are effectively frozen.

  13. bear, Keith Olbermann’s employer had a standing policy that its newscasters were not to donate to political parties or campaigns or controversial clauses. He violated a term of his employment contract, he got suspended for it. There’s no civil rights issue here.

  14. Not like this move will restore MSNDC’s credibility… they could fire everyone and still not salvage a pinch. In fact they probably should fire the lot.

  15. Olbermann may be suspended but he isn’t GONE. ABC Disney capitulated to CAIR’s demand that Brietbart NOT be a part of election night coverage. The war ain’t over, folks. We have won a few battles but the war AIN’T over.
SaraPac’s video of Mama Grizzlies and Tea Party winners says it all. They (we) are there to stay and on the march. As she quotes Reagan in the video” It is Morning in America”. Just about Noon we should see new blood in the White House.
While we rejoice in all of this, there are other things going on we must watch: UN demands 100 billion dollars to implement further ‘Global Warming” Initiatives, ignoring COMPLETELY the FACT that Climate Change is a hoax and a fraud.
US President Obama is going on a 10 day trip with 40 planes, 24 US Warships, 3000 people , booking the entire Hotel in Mumbai that was the scene of terrorist attacks, booking other hotels for the entorauge. This at a cost of 200 million dollars a day of US Taxpayers dollars. 2 Billion dollars for this trip. WHY? There IS a reason and I suspect we ought to know what it is, because it is important. Just as it is important for governments and leaders to understand that we are on to the Global Warming hoax and refuse to buy into the idea that we need to pay polluting countries for our economic successes. Polluting needs to be stopped or at least greatly reduced. Global Warming wealth distribution is NOT the way to go about it. I want our politicians here in Canada to actually SAY something that indicates they know this and refuse to play along. THEIR responsibility is to Canadians and it is high time they indicated that. Stephen Harper has done a so-so job of that, not nearly strongly enough articulated. Still afraid of the media hammer.

  16. Almost peed myself laughing about this one, I mean honest, unbiased, factual KO. Can Tingles be next? Wonder how owl liver or giggles tabor make out if this was checked?

  17. I’m starting to question my Atheism…THERE MUST BE A GOD!!!
    And he is a conservative.

  18. I really want Olbermann to stay on the air. He is such a wonderful embodiment of left-wing politics. He NEVER makes an argument; he just calls names, while almost literally frothing at the mouth.

  19. Word is that Keith Olbermann’s contract said all of his political contributions had to be approved by his employer. Seems reasonable in his case, since only Olbermann would be stupid enough to contribute to politicians when they were on his show.
Let’s face it. His money was nothing compared to giving them exposure. Political donations are a matter of public record. I can’t imagine what Keith was thinking. It’s like he wanted to get fired.
Meanwhile, Hillbuzz.org has an interesting take on this. You know this isn’t about political donations, right?
GE, who owned MSNBC until recently, was using it to suck up to Obama in hopes of massive “Green” contracts and tax breaks. Obama screwed over GE, who then sold MSNBC to Comcast. Comcast wants to make money, and knows that supporting Obama is for suckers.
Looks like Olbermann’s the first to learn these new facts of life.

  20. “considering it a breach of journalistic independence to contribute to the candidates they cover.”
*gasp* Olbermann?! Not impartial? Color me shocked.
That said I think that he should be free to donate to whomever he sees fit so long as he doesn’t use his pulpit to tell others to do so. I mean his breathlessly furious hyperbole against Bush, the Tea Party and republicans in general are probably a worse display of partisanship.

  21. I couldn’t honestly give a hoot who Olberman contributes to. I just wish the legacy media could grow a pair and simply come out and honestly state that they are biased (the media that is). This lame pretense of impartiality — give me a break! Papers in the old days made no such pretense, why should TV stations now? MSNBC should simply come out and openly state, “We’re all liberal/socialist all the time.” It’s not like they still won’t be the last to recognize it. And then they can rant to their hearts’ content and loudly go the way of Air America.

  22. I doubt the explanation that NBC is giving.
Instead, I think it was his hideous performance on Tuesday night. Chris Matthews’ abuse of Michelle Bachman was bad (with Laurence O’Donnell cackling like a fratboy in the background), but Olbermann’s reaction to Boehner’s speech was vile, and no decent person could have taken it any other way. Rachel Maddow was little better at that moment — that pompous ass may be on a short leash for the next few weeks too.

  23. Obama doesn’t need all those warships while he’s in India. He needs them to get back into the United States.

  24. Landslide victory, Olberdouche suspended, Nancy Pelosi running for minority leader. GREATEST WEEK EVER!!

  25. A superb week here.
Monday, the Steyn appearance in London. Tuesday, the beginning of the end of the Obama administration. Thursday, TSX up +200 points.
    There is a God!!

  26. ann coulter does some dishy eviscerations of olberman…worth looking up….
as for the 5th rate certifiable demagogue hisself…well it’s the same old ain’t it?
hubris nemesis and the dies irae.

  27. btw it’s clear his employer is trying to bust his contract…the meathead was a liability and in order to get out from under their contract along came this delicious revelation….
the walter duranty of our times i allus called him….it sure looks good on the schmuck….along with that weenie leg tingling dick with his road to damascus horseshit…he finally saw the light did he now?

  28. MSNBC has been taking a massive drubbing for its petty, peevish, and partisan election coverage. It was one of the most unprofessional journalistic efforts I’ve seen (like a car wreck, I couldn’t look away).
And the host was … wait for it … Olbermann.
Not a good week for MSNBC.

  29. “Journalistic independence?”
    MSNBC?
The only ones still under that illusion are the people working at MSNBC.
Now KO can get that job at NPR he always wanted.

  30. Some may not understand the significance of this.
Olbermann IS MSNBC. The current evening lineup of leaners was, to a great extent, composed around and by Olbermann.

  31. Olbermann… isn’t he the one with rabies?
The couple of times I saw him, he was frothing at the mouth.

  32. (like a car wreck, I couldn’t look away).
Bingo! I haven’t been able to look away since the Scott Brown election. I’ve still got liberal gray-matter splatter patterns (say that fast 5x)on my living room walls.

  33. To be “Olbermanned”: To be hoisted on one’s own petard as a result of being a bombastic condescending pompous hypocritical pseudo-intellectual horse’s ass who unabashedly excoriated members of the right-wing media for being shills of a political party while at the same time sending cheques to political candidates he had interviewed. See dork.

  34. I sent this to Billy O
I want my damn signed copy of “Bold Fresh”
There once was a pundit named Keith, who when speaking of FOX gnashed his teeth.
He got caught making donations, for Progressive machinations
Now we won’t hear him bloviate for weeks

  35. “Whether we like Ober what’s his face or not, I find it troubling that someone can be suspended from his employment for making a donation. America IS a free country(so far) Oblohard had the choice to donate or not knowing full well it was a condition of his employment. No one forced him to go to MSNBC.
