Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I just wish the frickin’ CPC would get the memo. Tax cuts and firing state employees is the new deal, boys. Get on the band wagon or its going to run your @$$ over.
“Renegades going rogue together”…Love it!
Delingpole may have seen the light after climategate but Kate, Cjunk and others saw it long before that.
It would be interesting to see the rank, total number of posts here at sda. I bet climate fraud top the list.
The woman is a political genius.
saw the ads for her new show . . think it starts in tow weeks time.
I will put that one in the PVR rotation.
Christie/Rubio 2012. Palin could endorse this ticket and be secretary of state for her troubles.
Good stuff. Palin is one of the most media savvy pols out there. Pro-Palin PAC ads, Twitter and Facebook, even LSM anti-Palin attacks – she manages to get all of it working in her favor.
The Grizzly Bear and Gadsden Flag symbols are powerful images of fearlessness and strength. Positive symbols that contrast well with the thuggish aggression of “punish your enemies” and “put them on the back of the bus”. She gives the impression of personal empowerment which is far more effective than the typical “You’re to stupid to understand, so shut up and we’ll explain it to you…again (sigh)” attitude view of Obama and other elitists.
Unfortunately, the character assassination of Palin has been effective. If she runs for POTUS, she will have to assemble a strong, visible political team (VP,etc) to blunt the relentless LSM attacks about her lack of experience in specific areas.
Re:Britian. It’s too late. The only choice for non-statists is to leave and go to a country that is still salvageable – Oz, Canada, US, to name a few.
With Prentice resigning there’s one more “progressive” conservative out of government.
Where’s our Sarah?
I think she is in Alberta leading the Wildrose Party, leeky.
Sarah should be president of only to piss off Islam.
Behind that twangy speech patter is a very bright woman whose mind has not been soiled by the programmers at Harvard or Yale.
And did I mention she is hot? But them so are most conservative women as I have noticed.
May God bless and keep James Delingpole, and our Sarah, too.
Mama Grizzly stakes out her territory for the cubs.
All the imagery that will drive the Havard professor type ‘progressives’ absolutely wild.
Of course they didn’t like the ‘get back to nature’ course they just received on Nov 2.

Phantom, yes, smaller less intrusive government. Let the soviet minded emigrate to Venezuela.
Mama Grizzlies and Morning in America with shots of Rubio, Palin and others she endorsed who won in the “Mauling 101” coined in the post above.
Trent Lott and Lindsay Graham need to learn this and soon. THEY no longer have the say. And never will again. Rebups in Washington haven’t got it yet. IF they had we’d have a few more in the senate. Thanks to them and their dim view of Tea Party Candidates, they do not. Time for our new guys going to Washington to sweep clean and that includes the likes of Graham, Lott and , yes, Mitch McConnell…( a milque toast go along if there ever was one!)
Palin gets it. The American heartland is still made up of the best the world has to offer, hard working, humble, charitable people who are so tired of coastal liberals telling them not what to think, but what they ought to think…if they were able. She is going to turn them on their heads.
Bozo’s continual throwaway line on cutting government in the 08 campaign was “he wants to use a hatchet, where a scalpel is what is needed”. Momma grizzly woyld set it straight: “Obama wants to use a scalpel, but I’ve got a chainsaw”.
… Palin’s 71% endorsement success rate thus far—52 wins out of 73 declared races featuring Palin-endorsed candidates (eight additional races are undecided as of 1:30 p.m. on November 4)—is impressive, especially considering that she embraced a number of underdogs in traditionally blue states. Of particular importance is the fact that eighteen of the twenty candidates backed in Palin’s Take Back the 20 initiative have won their races (one race is undecided as of 1:30 p.m. on November 4). That’s a 90% success rate.

And to just pile on some more cuz it’s fun,
( I’m not sure if John Hayward is the Doctor Zero that posts over at Hotair or not.)
Sarah Palin did the GOP a lot of favors during this election. She’ll have plenty of markers to call in, if she runs for President. Conservatives4Palin put together a scorecard of candidates she endorsed, and it boasts a very impressive number of wins. She poured her strength into crucial victories, including most of the people I’ve already mentioned, plus the likes of Renee Ellmers (NC), John Boozman (AR), and Kelly Ayotte (NH). Dismissing Palin as some kind of fringe, “divisive” figure is transparently foolish. She made a difference for a bounty of good candidates, who will make a difference for America in the years ahead.

Heh. Not only did he use neither a scalpel or a hatchet, the dumbass wheeled 10 more corpses into the room.
Replacement of the previous generation. Both parties. Not a bad thing for us. I hope the newbies do not get sucked in to the Old Stream way of doing things and resist the pork and a lot of the dealing votes.
Sarah Palin has been very focussed. It is part of her genius.
If she leads forcefully and intelligently over the next two years, the presidency will be hers.
But it’s a minefield she has to get through.
Is there any chance that Kate McMillan will get into federal politics? She obviously is intelligent,
she broke the news on Climate Gate, and she could give Sarah Palin a run for her money in terms of looks.
I wonder who is the better shot?
Could any of our present federal politicians stand up to President Sarah? I don’t think so.
PM McMillan, though, would have what it takes – “a strong anarchist as leader”.
Policy is Sarah Palin’s strongest point, in Alaska she always considered the long-term impact on the people and their wallets. She took a lot of flak from special interest groups because she wasn’t about to leave government on the hook by default, which is exactly one of the reasons why the US economy and government’s across the US are in such bad shape – previous politicians allowed policies to go forward that gave away the future store – and the future is now.
I’d vote for Kate in a heartbeat, but not for Palin. Not until I saw some evidence that she’s actually smart. Which I haven’t, yet.
All this is academic if the “Reichstag Fire” that Beck predicted a while back occurs.
Consider this Obozo’s massive junket to India includes even his kids…..
Certain elements have deduced this is to avoid the fire….perhaps a false flag terrorist attack….nuclear…..the sum of all fears….
Desperate people do desperate things……

Sarah Palin’s chainsaw to Obama’s scalpel: “That’s not a knife…”
Phil in Canada, Sarah Palin went from a beleaguered governor to savvy political bookie. That’s what one can do when one’s brain cells work overtime.
Phil in Canada said: “Not until I saw some evidence that she’s actually smart. Which I haven’t, yet.”
Barry’s smart. You like him?
“Smart” is over rated in a political leader. Raw intelligence counts for a lot less than moral rectitude. I prefer somebody who knows what the right thing to do is, and goes and does it.
How smart do you have to be to cut taxes? You just CUT them, and tell all the “smart” people who say it can’t be done to shove it.
I’ll give up smart for competent.
Tina Fey is allegedly smart, while Sarah Palin is allegedly dim-witted.
Which of these two people has done more for her country? Who has accomplished more? Which person engaged with a process far larger than herself and emerged stronger and triumphant.
Which of these women most closely resembles “the man who counts”?
Tina Fey has made a name for herself mocking a much better woman and pretending to be people she isn’t. Sarah Palin has redefined politics in the world’s most powerful country.
People who slander Sarah Palin are engaged in the most amusing form of public irony. It makes me chuckle, anyway.
Palin was smart enough to recoginize the tea party and its potential. She also picked up on the mood of the general population and the desire to change everything back. She left a low paying government job to make millions. Ya, your right, what a dummy.
Test
Phil in Canada –
Have you read Sarah Palin’s book, then investigated each claim she makes? I did, and the overwhelming impression is intelligence, integrity, and the heart of a lion, devoted to defending her family, and fighting for policies to ensure the wellbeing, God willing, of the nation in perpetuity.
If you are bothered by her folksiness, may I suggest reading Abraham Lincoln’s speeches and quotes – he was folksy, because his aim was to save the Union, which required persuading the unaffected and plain Union voters to endure a grueling war. That is Palin’s goal – to persuade those on the fence, and to defeat the political enemies of the nation, who can be neatly and completely described in a single word : liberals.
Envy across the pond might more accurately be described as despair across the pond.
The Brits I know say ” it’s too late ” when asked if Britain can recover; they see no way back.
LC Bennett has it right – we can’t ignore the things that are bad, but we should count ourselves incredibly blessed, because we are.
I found the ad unbearably corny. Genius? You’re kidding.
Also, Sarah needs a vocal coach to help her take the edge off that grating voice. Don’t get me wrong; I’m besotted with the lady.
“Our movement, our moment, our Morning in America”. LOL. Cold-sweating shudders at 4 am maybe.
Here’s a stat I recently encountered: mandated spending including medicare, medicaid, social security actually EQUALLED total revenue this fiscal year. 2.1 trillion I believe the number was.
That means that everything else, including the military is financed by borrowed funds.
Strictly rhetorical question:
Will Sarah/Tea Party call for a serious reduction or elimination of these mandated social programmes and a reduction in military spending which is about 7 times the next country?
Palin is going to be a political force to be reckoned with, and the MSM,who have a visceral hatred of the woman, have aided her tremendously with their incredibly vicious attacks on her.
The MSM has been more kindly to Hitler,Stalin, and Chairman Mao than they have an intelligent, accomplished, attractive American woman. And no one achieves the success Palin has without possessing intelligence and ambition.
The same can be said for just about any successful person. You may not like them,or agree with their agenda, but “stupid”,they are NOT!
I don’t know if Sarah Palin would be a good President, and the only way we’ll ever find out is if she is elected to that office. We can speculate forever.
But, to add to Palin’s list of accomplishments, we can add “toughness”, BIG TIME. She’s survived the most vicious attacks on a public person I’ve seen in over sixty years on this planet, and come out on top!
Some day in the future,I hope a competent author does a book on the “Battle of Sarah Palin”,and exposes the insane vitriol aimed at not only Palin, but her entire family, even her infant child.
Tha MSM attacks on Palin during the last election campaign have to rank as the most disgraceful example of attack journalism in the last hundred years.
But she survived, and thrived. And it looks like she’s going to make another attempt at the Presidency, this time not as VP, but as the President!
So, roll out the hate campaign, you third rate losers in the MSM,but don’t expect it to have much effect this time around. The public has grown weary of your constant fear and hate mongering, and given the abilities of the candidate YOU championed, you have little credibility left.
me no dhimmi…?
you should have heard the house of commons in the 19th century and later as I did…the accents!!!ohmigod!!!!
fortunately we and my colleagues were interested in the IDEAS being enunciated in WHATEVER accent it was expressed …
This is a joke right? This impossibly corny ad, which is the dumbest thing I’ve seen not produced by the Obama presidential campaign, has cons all teary eyed. If Obama released something as stupid and flakey as this, he’d get torn apart by you people-but Palin got those traditional values! She can pay down trillions of dollars of debt with ‘faith in America’ and traditional values. All without cutting a red cent from the military, medicare, SS, or anything else that is the target of any serious (ie libertarian) deficit-buster. Of course, I forgot, logic and consistency are for elitists.
Libertariansaresmarter,
Still pissed about California’s Proposition 19?
Well if Cuomo leads New York and New England out of the Union and that group joins Ontario in a New European Union, there really would be nothing to stop Alberta and Saskatchewan from joining the US. Maybe the new American “Manifest Destiny” is a great republic from the Arctic to the Gulf.
Libertari…..
Who said nothing would be cut? Tea Party advocates are quite clear: stop spending.
This means repeal Obamacare, don’t bail out wall st., don’t bail out GM, don’t bail out Chrysler, don’t bail out California, etc. etc.
The ad is red meat for those who want to see a return to limited government. Palin is finding a fitting place as cheerleader for this movement. Not the leader, since it doesn’t need one. That’s the beauty of the Tea Party. It’s a fault-tolerant, decentralised system of ideas.
Thanks for the article Kate. This guy bares watching.
What I can’t understand is the visceral hatred so many “liberals” have for Sarah Palin. I made the mistake of making a positive comment about Sarah Palin at a dinner meeting and got pounced on by all the other doctors there and just had the lone conservative agree with me. Given a choice between Obozo or Palin in the white house, I don’t see how one could go wrong with her.
Hopefully the Tea Party movement will spread to Canada. It’s too late for Britain and the best that can be done is to accept freedom-loving refugees from that country if they want to come over here. An interesting statistic from my Advocates for Self Government email today that 35% of Tea Party members identify themselves as Libertarians. It seems that the best way to get Libertarian ideas accepted in the US is to reform the Republican party from the botton up. Unfortunately I doubt whether the same thing can happen in Canada as many Libertarians migrate south rather than try to change the system up here.
Olberman and Mahr say that the bear is an ACTOR!

Phil in Canada:
I’m with you, buddy. Is Sarah Palin a decent, honest, principled woman? Absolutely no doubt. Has she tapped into a potent source of power in the Tea Party movement? No argument here. Does she have a good sense of the basics of sound government? Probably.
Has Sarah Palin been unjustly maligned by the LSM? Yes. Has her family been ridiculed and lampooned in a way that Will’s has not? Yes. Has she been discounted to the Democrats’ chagrin? Oh, yeah!
But is she ready to be the most powerful human being in the world? Not by a long shot. I’ve seen her live interviews. She doesn’t think well on her feet, she’s not articulate, and she doesn’t show any evidence of consideration beyond 30 second slogans.
Someone above said that Will Smith is “smart”, and how’s that working out? First, I disagree that he is “smart” – where’s the evidence? I see evidence that he’s an excellent actor, a chameleon with the ability to be what you need him to be, and a guilt surfer who’s not shy about playing the race card whenever it suits him. But his university thesis is hidden, people who worked with him at the Law Review said he never showed up or did a lick of work, and his books were ghost written. “Smart” is an invention of the media, as far as I’m concerned. Like all neo-fascist liberals, he thinks he knows better than the great unwashed, and he wants to make our decisions for us. Sarah, and millions of Americans, have replied “F! you” to that.
But Sarah is not the right replacement. Her appeal is a mile wide, but really only inches deep. I don’t think she has a clue about the economic forces battling the US today, and her naive belief that the US will once again be the leading economic power in the world shows no understanding of history, business, or even demographics. She cobbled together a “bachelor of communications” degree from four nondescript colleges – from my personal experiences with graduates from lesser known US colleges, I’d say that’s the equivalent of an honours graduate from a good Canadian high school. Stephen Harper has more intelligence, knowledge, and good sense in his pinky finger.
I’ve said it before – I’d love to have her as a neighbour and friend, and she’s doing a great job running point. But she is not the right person to be in charge, and if she wins the nomination, look for four more years of Democrats in the White House (maybe not Will, but a Democrat nonetheless).
KevinB – why are you calling Obama “Will Smith”? Like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air Will Smith? I like him. What’d he ever do to deserve that?
(p.s. Palin’s getting stronger.)
I agree, mostly, with LC Bennett. I note that Palin had to beat, not only Democrats, but also the
RINO wing of the Republican party.
She took her attackers and threw them on their heads – something like a karate expert fighting a drunk in a bar.
Education? Formal education is much over valued. Now we Canadians like formally well-educated PMs –
Sir John Abbott, Mackenzie King, Lester Pearson, Trudeau. But it is not the American tradition. So
I wouldn’t worry too much about Palin’s lack of an Ivy League degree. In terms of competence,
Barack Obama with his superior education isn’t even in her league.
A similar comparison exists with regard to their abilities to speak extempore – perhaps a little weak with Palin, nonexistent with Obama.
As for Sarah Palin’s optimism – sorry, children, but that’s straight out of Leadership 1.
And not totally unrealistic. American creativity and drive in business is unrivalled, in new industries.
The information era is driven by cheap high-capacity hard drives, and they are an American specialty
(can you say “Seagate”? “Western Digital”? And compare RAMAC with Seagate’s latest offerings if you want to experience a miracle).
Several American entrepreneurs have revolutionised marketing, through Amazon and eBay;
information access, through Google and Bloomberg; and social networking, through Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter.
Not to mention such little things as TeX and LaTeX, and AMSfonts.
Politicians who get government out of the faces of entrepreneurs will do the US a huge favour; a rationalised and
responsible financial system would be the second leg of renewed American
economic dynamism.
How far will Sarah Palin go? We will see.
“But is she ready to be the most powerful human being in the world? Not by a long shot. I’ve seen her live interviews. She doesn’t think well on her feet, she’s not articulate, and she doesn’t show any evidence of consideration beyond 30 second slogans. ” As stated above by KevinB.
It seems she thinks better on her feet than Joe Biden, current VP of the USA. And Obama for that matter, since he needs a teleprompter everywhere HE goes. And, for that matter, she certainly thinks better ‘on her feet’ than Katie Couric, who famously sat on a train beside Joe Biden during the ’08 campaign and said not a word to dispel the twisted time machine coming out of Biden’s mouth when he stated that FDR
‘immediately’ went on television during the crash of ’29’.. not only did she remain silent, no eyebrow was raised nor a sputter of astonishment.
So, let’s leave off with ‘she is not qualified’.
She has much more experience running cities and states than Obama and Joe Biden put together.
( It is fact that senators run nothing, unless you can include their mouths)
Mrs. Palin can go as far she she chooses in any venue she chooses and she has proven that. She was NOT in charge of the ’08 Pubbie campaign and had she been, there may have been a far different outcome. Let’s face it. She did better in her debate than did McCain and he, the candidate, refused to call Obama on a series of glaring issues that NEEDED to be raised. And he refused to do so. Mr. McCain was the failure in ’08 , NOT Mrs. Palin.
Proof is in the results of the midterms!
I’d vote for Kate in a heartbeat, but not for Palin. Not until I saw some evidence that she’s actually smart. Which I haven’t, yet.
