Chicom, er, capitalists: They look like destroying Buddhist treasures too

In Afstan, no less. See the end of this post, which contains some essential reading for those longing to embrace China–as so many of our politicians, pundits and businesses do:

Dragon watch: Should a Chinese company get a substantial holding in Potash Corp. (and other matters)?

1. The Yukon wants to sell our gold to China – complete with Chinese workers to mine it- here! Google Yukon Nevada. Where are the greenies? Under their rocks.

2. Lucky for those ChiComs the copper mine isn’t 900 yards(approx a kilometer) away from a mosk.
Seriously though, the abandoned Buddhist site is nearly a kilometer away.
Is that supposed to be close or is the strip mining going to overrun the archaeological site?
If the mine is going to overrun the site, which is more important?
That Afghanistan finally develops an economy and stops being a failed nation or an archaeological site that was abandoned by Buddhists long ago?

3. Time like Ezra says, to start with oil products than anything else made.
To purchase the least evil.
In the end it may cost more but your in control not the government by voting with your dollars.

4. Maybe I’m just getting too skeptical and reading into things more than I should these days. How does that saying go? If you don’t get grumpier as you age you’re not paying attention, or something like that.
I just happened to have watched the “How to Train Your Dragon” movie last night for the first time. According to that movie, you need to make friends with the Dragons. It’s an endearing well done movie btw.
I disagree with the review of the movie below on some points, and agree with it on others. I found the movie to be politically motivated, and the ending clearly shows that the children are the ones who teach the old-fashioned adults how to bring peace and harmony into the world. The adults are undermined in this movie; being portrayed as super stubborn and justifyably stupid, stuck in their ways unable to consider alternate paradigms regarding the Dragons.
For instance, the Head Viking Leader admits to banging his head against a rock as a child because his Father told him to, so of course he did it without asking any questions-this confession causes the viewer to automatically assume that the Viking Leader was stupid to do as his Father asked and also serves the dual purpose of providing an empathetic, yet convincing excuse for why the leader kills Dragons – it’s not to protect the village and the sheep whom the Dragons snatch away – it’s because he is obviously brain-damaged from banging his head on that rock like his Father told him to.
Oh yeah – all the adults in this movie are
really fat which is brought to the audiences attention by the child hero, who not so subtley alludes to this fact, and suggests that the Dragons snagging some of their sheep might just be a good thing for the villagers waistlines.

5. “Should a Chinese company get a substantial holding in Potash Corp.”
NO!!
China is about to become the world’s predominant economic power, and China works patiently for CHINA,not for the benefit of anyone else.
They are kind of like the old Mafia that way,it always appears to be a good deal, until the day they collect their favours.
The Federal government has the authority to reject the potash deal, let’s hope they bring the Red Dragon up short!
Politicians have become lulled to complacence by the benevolence of the Americans in their position as the world’s Super Power. They should NOT expect as kindly treatment at the hands of China.
Kill the potash deal, Mr.Harper, it may turn out to be the best political move you ever made.

6. From what can be gleaned from news reports the only offer on the table for the Potash Corp is from BHP (Broken Hill Properties) the giant mining conglomerate out of Australia. The price offered seems to be low now that the share prices have risen. What is now becoming clearer is that the NDP and all their union lackeys along with all committed (unfortunately not to the button factory) socialists and social engineers including the Liberals and especially the MSM are determined to nix the sale to BHP and are begging for the Chinese to put a bid forward. The personal opinion is that no resource and/or company in this country should be sold to any companies owned by foreign Governments. Potash Corp should be able to stand on their own.

7. Why doesn’t the Sask. government just change the royalty rates on the potash to make sure the owners of the minerals (the people of Sask. NOT the people of Canada) get the proper price per ton? Then it doesn’t really matter who owns the mining equipment.
I don’t know enough about the potash business but in the oilsands, ownership of a producer doesn’t lead to oil landing in China. There is no route for the oil to take from the oilsands to China, rather the Chinese INVEST in producing the oil and spend that money buying oil else where.
Sure one day they may be a line to the west coast, but even a 300k bbl/d we’re talking 5% of the total production, of which most goes south to a neighbor who increasingly doesn’t want to do business with us and is loosing their buying power.

8. As long as BC has a substantial hold on pot production, who cares if the Chinese get a big share of potash.

9. China is on the tippy edge of an economic DISASTER that will re-impoverish a billion people.
Selling them stakes in Canadian companies will amount to zippo. Potash Corp. is a big hole in the ground in Sask. They can buy it all they want, but they can’t pick it up and take it with them. It ain’t portable. Same goes for the tar sands.
We’re selling them the Brooklyn Bridge.
Take their money and build up the military with it. We will need a decent army when the Chicoms go bust. Keep the warlords in line.

10. looks like an indictment to all western nations that accept Chicom investment.
including the revered-by-SDA harper harpoonists on parliament hill.
they ALL do it.
the good news is one day the Chinese will be in the position to FORCE the japs to finally ADMIT their WW II atrocities and plant them firmly in their schoolbooks for starters.

11.
socialists and social engineers including the Liberals and especially the MSM are determined to nix the sale to BHP and are begging for the Chinese to put a bid forward.
Uuess…
Lets see: The Economic System of post-war Japan was American designed and using American investment was used to compete against America. Americans also designed the Post war System in Korea, to compete against Japan & America…The Chinese system is also driven by American Investment….
Now how does one bring American Foreign wealth back to America without detection?
I guess we Americans could adopt a Domestic $ momentary system. That way we wouldn’t get stuck with failed International investment….. AIG
was an International Bail out..
My point is the MSM useless minds are worthless

12. Let the Chinese overpay for an asset in Saskatchewan. They have to unload their 900billion USD as it will depreciate soon. They are willing to overpay for it. We can always raise royalty rates to make up for it.

13. Is it just me, or does it rather look like the Buddha is sitting on the couch with TV remote in hand?
